posted a message on Do you Auto-Concede if you meet a specific Class? If so - vs which Class?

I've learned never to auto-concede if you're not about to die. Sometimes even then.

You never know what is likely to happen in a game and how it will play out.
I've managed to scrape victory even against Turn 1 Shadow-Stepping Prince Rogues (which is the most salt-generating thing to see in Hearthstone ever) just by a mix of pure luck and outvaluing him with trades and tempo.

On more than one occasion, I have even seen my opponent miss lethal completely (sometmies just to BM me) and then get rekt because I have the lethal combo for my turn. That's always really satisfying!

Nerf quest mage already!!!! no matter how many dirty rats or gnomeferatus i use, they always complete the quest and burn me down, and all of my minions are useless 'cause they're frozen all the time!

ehhh ... eater of secret ?
Heh - this reminds me of a game earlier today. I got an Ice Block from my Crystalline Oracle.
However, when I played it, (as I didn't have any other spells at the time), the opponent had that spell-cloning thing which copied it. So I basically provided him with even more lives to live off!
I was proper rekt and was about to concede... but oddly he conceded next turn (and beat me to it!) - which was really weird, since he had abou 28 health, a hand full of cards and there was nothing on the board between us.
He must have been really certain he wasn't going to win! Lol!
Lesson there kids - never auto-concede if you aren't about to lose! You don't know what the other person is about to do!

so you play this on turn 4 in a deck with a combo that costs 19 or 20 mana. then if your opponent removes it they just gave you 10 mana early and you win with that advantage. or if they don't you combo off a win. I am sure someone can find a combo with 20 mana in druid so I think this card is good.

    Malygos + 2 x Swipe + 2 x Moonfire, among other spells with Malygos.
The issue isn't the combo, it's how easy it is to break the weapon ruining the combo.  OTK combos shouldn't guaranteed to be thwarted by one card in the opponent's deck.  That's a real vulnerable deck.
Basically, the logic is this:  If this card is really good and Druid decks are built around it (likely an OTK deck), then people will run Oozes and Harrison to counter it.  Since it is so easily countered by oozes, there's no way the meta will settle out with this card in a tier 1 deck.  It might exist in a tier 3-ish deck if all these weapons don't pan out and Oozes are rare in the meta, but if it is tier-3, it sure isn't meta-defining.

     Ahem... Gnomeferatu
I'm just going to leave this here for the salty tears of Razakus Priest players and OTK Mages, etc... :-P

All the viable decks are just a Hit or Miss.

One does enjoy a good self-defeating statement. :-)
It helps the day go by.
For reference, if a deck were "viable", it wouldn't be "hit or miss"...

posted a message on Starting to see real improvement, I think?

    Good job man! #FeelsGood

It took me a while before I found I could reach the rank 5 ledge consistently each season - it wasn't until I quit playing CSGO and Battlegrounds and devoted more time to the grind of Hearthstone that I could do it. (I was interested to determine once and for all whether it was out of my reach due to skill or purely grinding my way there, so I decided to try grinding and was happy to start hitting my targets each month after doing that).
So I guess it's heavy on the perserverence, but a great feeling when you do it! :-)
Keep it up and good luck with the new expansion / season when they hit!

What's better than playing Razakus Priest and Tempo Prince Rogue?
Playing both of them at the same time, of course!

The sheer surprise value of this deck pays in dividends as you start off playing the standard Razakus gameplan and they mulligan and play to handle it.

Then out comes the Prince and a bunch of pirates hitting face and the opponent is bamboozled!

I've had a lot of fun with this deck so far in the Rank 5-1 bracket.
Feel free to have a laugh with it too! :-)

Also feel free to offer suggestions for improvement, or what works / doesn't etc. :-)
    Enjoy!

posted a message on quest warrior -- disappear

Well, I don't know - I have seen Quest Warrior still hanging around in standard occasionally (verrrry ocasionally).

The biggest problem it faces is the direct "over the roof" damage that Razakus deals and the sheer out-value of Big Rude / Big Priest.
It had it's "day" and the meta has moved on.

I for one welcome our new meta Overlords... :-P

Actually, removing this weapon ON or after your turn 9 is perfectly fine since the Druid will  get nothing from it. It will refresh his crystals on your turn, so he won't get the benefit.
So you still want to run anti-weapon tech for it. Just use it later in game.

Twig of the world tree is a L60 BoE blue weapon, which was well known back in the day. Pretty sure that's the reference.

Sure, I'm aware of that (this is where they originally got the idea for the WoW TCG card from).
My point is that they keep re-using the stuff from WoW TCG a lot.
The fact that Sen'jin Shieldmasta actually says "Taz-dingo, yes!" is in direct reference to the fact it is a copy of the card.
It's not a complaint, if anything it's a nostalgic "Aaaahhhh! It's THAT card again..." sort of thing.
Ohh, that's wow tcg? Presumed you were claiming that Blizz were ripping off other TCGs, sorry. I don't think that the two cards are too alike in function, though I've never played WoW TCG. With that said, I don't think Twig is broken outside of blingtron/medihv shenanigans (which won't be common, particularly in your magical christmas land T5 scenario), primarily because there's counterplay (break weapon when the druid's at 9 mana, for example), along with it being a massive tempo loss. Oh, and getting shafted by taunts.
If only "magical Christmas land" draws (like Prince Keleseth and Shadow Step) happened more often, hey?
I don't think many would call me unrealistic to suggest that this was extremely likely by Turn 5 to pull off. (Assuming you get Blingtron in the first 2 x mulligans + 4 cards which I believe the chance of happening iss something in the region of like 70 odd percent). I have the figure somewhere....
    Heh! :-)
But yeah, that card is from the WoW TCG :-) Man, I miss that game so much! :-(
Back when "RnG" only referred to the mulligan and drawing of cards from your deck... sigh...!
Okay, was wrong to doubt that rough figure, tbh, though this weapon is weak without the combo, and you're probably weak to aggro. Just ran some numbers, and it's not a bad chance (Conceded the point before combining the three situations together, though). Though I will point out your example is slightly off due to the fact we're talking two 1-ofs by T5 as opposed to a 1-of and a 2-of by T2, it's still a decent chance. Strange that doesn't seem to apply to my controlling combos :P Hypergeometrics are a pain to do on a computer, though, so forgive me for not sharing the mess! Not too worried about the weapon itself, but we'll see if anything broken actually comes to pass with it.
Actually, you're right - I realised that after I posted it that I hadn't actually taken into the account that it was 2 legendary cards rather than 1. So fair play both ways I guess :-)

posted a message on [CARD] Hearthstone {/CARD] - The Ultimate OP BM Card? :-)

A recent thread discuss got me reminiscing about the old WoW TCG game and I was thinking about what my favorite cards were.
One of my most cherished OP cards was something called the "Hand of Edward the Odd" - a topic for another day.

But another one which was amazing in tournaments and ultimately insane (and OP) was this one :

Image result for hand of edward the odd

And how relevant is it that this is so aptly named? :-)
Which got me wondering - how crazy would it be to have a card that does something like this in Hearthstone itself?
Can you imagine flooding the board with minions and then playing this, going into your next game against a Cancer Tempo Rogue who gets 2 shadow steps and a Keleseth in his hand only to be faced with a rampaging horde of minions on the board.

Yes, it's broken. Yes it's pure insane madness. But it would be so much fun.

    HOWEVER!
That got me thinking - obviously this is a ridiculous card for something like Hearthstone. But what if there was a Tavern Brawl or a mode or something, where the whole basis of the brawl was that if you lost a game, you started your next game with whatever the previous game board situation was for you (and you weren't allowed to change your deck, obviously).

So even if you lost your last game, if you had a big board presence, you could get a huge win for the next one. And then you would be reset, so you couldn't go "infinite" or something like that. And if you lost agin, the chances are that you would have an even better board for the next game and so on. The mode plays into the whole Blue Shell effect.

I dunno - it sounds pretty crazy, but at the same time, I would really love to try something like that to see what it was like. You could be almost guaranteed to get your pack that way without struggling (like you do in some brawls where you arrive late and everyone seems to already be running the most insane optimised decks)

Yes, it refreshes the crystals..its the main pourpose of the card, not to ramp.

The main purpose of the card is what it gets used for, not what it may or may not have been intended to be used for (which is unprovable).
There is nothing to say that this wasn't expected to be used as a ramp card (which is basically the only thing it will mostly see play as). It's far too slow to be used for any kind of refresh except in the case of games dragging on past fatigue.

Kun the Forgotten King + Aviana is a 2 card combo and how good was that deck?

To be fair here, that's not strictly true. Sure, those two cards are a 2-card combo, but it also relied on you having a hand full of other cards to actually play when you pull this off, otherwise you ended up losing the element of surprise.
It's a vastly different scenario to playing the weapon, followed by uber-draw, dropping a 5/5 minion and refilling your hand with massive ramp and tempo.
I'm afraid your example really is a case of apples and oranges here...

    Laugh. Lots.

Get Cursed Blade, lose the game.
Also you need to play the twig first, then blingtron, perfect curve. Will happen sometimes, but far less consistent than Naga Sea Witch combo. Still it's quite a strong card.
The chance of getting a cursed blade is now even smaller than ever before - so the chance of getting the perfect curve is way, way higher in fairness.
The RNG rolls for winnage far outweigh those for losing.
And even if you did happen to get a CB, spreading plague has your back. ^_^
