As Biomass said - there are plenty counters for that deck and the real shitheads and problem are indeed secret mages...

Pherosizm posted a message on 5 things I would change in hearthstone as a control / combo playerPosted in: General DiscussionCan 'secrets' also be visible to those spectating? In what sense of the word would they be 'secrets' exactly?
Secrets are now removed from the game. They have been replaced with:
"Obvious trap" cards.
This will bring players back to a simpler time, when traps in dungeons were so obvious, you could see them from a room away.
"Hmm.. that glowing treasure in the middle of the next room, clearly illuminated on a pedestal to attract my attention and not make me think about the consequences of touching it is very appealing. Let us walk towards it without concern for the seemingly empty room surrounding it!"

P4dge posted a message on Any other control/combo player feeling completely demotivated to start a game against warlock nowadays?Posted in: General DiscussionQuote from IThe_Beast >>People complaining about tickatus warlock definetly haven't played the deck. it gets shit on by aggro.
The op has acknowledged this though by specifically saying control/combo. They are aware its countered by aggro but aggro is a style I assume they, like I and many others just simply don't enjoy.
I try not to moan about it because I get it. There are counters, there are times they don't draw it, it isn't a meta dominating deck etc etc. I just do really hate playing against, mainly because I like to play off meta decks and for the most part, they generally do OK against most things but a large amount of them aren't aggro, so they go to turn 10 and beyond and are just instantly punished by this. I'm not calling for a nerf for reasons above but for a large number of decks adn styles, it makes for an extremely unfun situation.
I've absolutely no issue with Tickatus burning 5 cards, I think that's a great tech is a worthwhile effect. The issue is the free Tickatus you also get from Y'Shaarj. Having 10 cards burned by turn 12 is just a rubbish feeling. It's basically the definition of a polarising deck. You're either aggressive enough to blast it down before it gets going or you're slow enough to lose a third of your deck.
It's not even about it punishing overly greedy decks. I've consistently hit fatigue against Tickatus when my opponent still has double figures left in their deck. I suppose the closest answer will be to tech in archivist and just accept a dead card in most matches.
If it typically punished decks that reached fatigue consistently, cool but it doesn't. It wrecks anything that wants to dare to try and draw around a half of their deck and that'd too much IMO.
Feels like it should be an 8 cost card. It still serves it purpose perfectly well but is a little slower and a little harder to currupt. It's just too easy to corrupt and regain for free.

Psy_Kik posted a message on Tickatus would have the perfect nerf, yet Blizzard...Posted in: General DiscussionThe main thing stopping control and combo is shaman refilling the board with "must clear or die" on turn 4, turn 5, turn 6, turn 7 and turn 8. Tickatus isnt even relevant.

Absolutely required if you’re playing Highlander.

Anyone who's played Battlegrounds for a decent amount of time can tell you that Ragnaros has (arguably) the weakest hero power in the game. If you're lucky, one of those two fireballs he shoots out can pop a divine shield or maybe even kill a key minion like Baron Rivendare or Scavenging Hyena, but in the late game where almost everything has 20+ hp, it's usually a waste of two gold.

I've always hated Quest Shaman. The stupid amount of value from the double battlecries, and it just got worse after Evolve was put into standard. (I kept beating Quest Shaman with my Quest Thief Rogue deck, but lost every time after Evolve came. Really glad that's gone now).
Now I find myself playing this deck and am just amazed at how strong it can be. I have become what I hate.

I can agree somewhat with the board clearing, but it never seemed like a problem (Spirit Lash, Shadow Word cards, etc) to just survive long enough to play a Shadow Essence or Barnes and pull out an Obsidian Statue or something with taunt.
More importantly, though, is that the benefits of an extra board clear come the demerit of a polluted rez pool, making Catrina and Spellstone less likely to improve your board.

It’s not even just the Rez cards, sometimes Barnes or Shadow Visions will pull him out too.

Can't play a single rez card without pulling out a Doomsayer and destroying my board in the process...
They seem to do more harm than good.

Meanwhile Flamestrike just sobs in the corner.

I only remember getting three: Sylvanas Windrunner, Deathstalker Rexxar, and Duskfallen Aviana. Of those three, only Aviana was disenchanted. I forget what I used her for, but I'm sure it was something important.

So, first impressions after playing this:
It's not great. It's clearly a lot weaker than Bloodbloom-Cataclysm (and no wonder, with so many amazing cards that rotated out). You're either forced to waste cards, like Twisting Nether on an empty board, in order to lower your hand enough to play the combo, or you end up with not enough health to survive once you've drawn all your cards. You often run out of minions to trade effectively with, and your Hellfire doesn't have the damage to kill the enemy minions (trying to play Bloodmage Thalnos with it either takes too much mana, or he dies before you can get Hellfire off). Oftentimes I get Aranasi Broodmother in my opening hand or initial draw, which is just a real damn shame. Solarium -> Plot Twist is an interesting combo, and I do tend to get heals from Broodmother, but it's often not enough to survive.
I can't deny that I could just be playing poorly, but as of right now, this deck is just not that fun to me.

This is definitely gonna be one of the decks I'm trying once the expansion hits.
