posted a message on Let appreciate how well Spell Hunter turned out.

Hunter is still a second tier class.  They definitely got some love but they're still not the most competitive.

Look at the other tools other classes get... Hunter is one of the OG secret classes.  Where's their arcanologist?  Card draw?  Etc

Definitely in a better space as compared to last xpac, but still has a ways to go

Far too early to say if it's 'good.'

Probably better than anticipated, but I don't think it will be a top tier deck.

I almost can't believe myself that I'm saying this and I probably shouldn't because I'm getting too tired but I start to believe that hunter will be at least tier 2 in the next meta. Hunter gets pretty good early game tools actually from this expansion even though you might not realize it at the first glanze. Hunter's weapon arsenal gets boosted by Candleshot which is actually pretty good early game board control card which also let's you play pirates if you include Eaglehorn's Bow in your deck (and you will, this is hunter after all). Dire Mole is another great early game buffable card which can be e.g. 4/3 on turn 2 if you happen to get Crackling Razormaw. Corridor Creeper can be played probably on turn 4 with 3-4 mana which is a nice tempo gain. This is possible because you have cards like Alleycat, Snake Trap (which is actually pretty good secret) and Unleash the Hounds. So my point is that Hunter will probably not be as bad as people think. It just won't go to the direction Blizzard promoted it to us.

Early game was never really the issue with Hunter. Mid to late game was & will remain the issue. A majority of my Hunter wins over the last few expansions were simply due to having a strong opening hand that I am able to snowball my opponent within the first 5 turns, then finish them off Kill Command + Hero Power. That became more difficult as Team 5 gave numerous classes ways to deal with early game aggro. Once your board was wiped out, it became very difficult to regain control of it. With the cards you mentioned along with Cave Hydra, Hunter will have an even better early game but the late game issues will continue to exist.
Exactly right.  It's easy to argue Hunter is the most reliant on drawing on curve currently in Hearthstone.
Other classes weaknesses/deficiencies have been addressed.  Gone wide against druid?  No problem, Spreading Plague.  Priest?  Pint-Size Potion, Potion of Madness, Mass Dispel (to an extent) etc.  The point is most classes have some way to to regain control of the board or stall out enough to try and regain tempo.
Hunter doesn't have this at all.  It's neat to see them try and push hunter in a different direction.  I don't think the necessary changes were made obviously.  Hunter still has mediocre card draw at best with Flare (which is useless most of the time and a loss of tempo even on turn 2). and Tracking.  Tracking is almost a liability in this deck type if you're looking for an answer and find it, but have to discard a win condition which appears to be Deathstalker Rexxar.
New deck archetypes require a lot of support to make them work.  With the lack of neutral spells and card draw a "control hunter" will be quite difficult.  To My Side! has received a lot of flack for good reason.  It's an epic, with a VERY specific condition, that provides no more value than the card it represents ( Animal Companion ).  I would have rather seen it something like "Deal 3 damage, Summon an Animal Companion, Draw a Card."  Or Deal 3, Summon a 3/3 Bear with taunt, draw a card.  3 damage = 3 mana, as with the 3/3 taunt, and the card draw would be worthy of the epic nature.  It would also make this card not suck in arena.  I hope Blizzard doesn't allow this card to show up in Arena because it's even more worthless there.
It's even more frustrating when thinking about hunter legendaries.  Professor Putricide could have been so many things. Play a secret draw a card etc.
With most of these cards hunter is going to be in a very similar spot.  Tempo/midrange that is heavily reliant on drawing on curve.  Get a lousy starting hand?  How are you supposed to come back?
I don't think Hunter will be as bad as people think.  The point is that it won't be nearly as good as the other classes.  As people that play the game, we should be voting with our wallet.  With the amount of money Blizzard has why can't every single expansion introduce awesome cards for every single class consistently?  Why does it take them so long to make adjustments to a digital game when one of the main strengths is supposed to be the ease and speed of making said changes?

For all those saying the class is automatically destined to be an aggro class because of hero power, needs to look at the various options Blizz has introduced to change hero power during the game's history. Is it really that difficult to make a decent card to change the Hunter hero power into control?

Priest can become a fucking machine gunner, but Hunter cannot get a control oriented hero power. Oh no! It will give Hunter a different play style! How fuck can that be allowed in HS? Fuck Hunters, because I still remember Undertaker Hunter and Face Hunter, what 2 years ago? or more? Sir Finley Mrrgglton can turn any class into aggro, but the opposite cannot be allowed!

Just design a decent card to change the hero power. DKRex is awesome in doing that, make a low cost card to allow a more control oriented hero power for Hunter. Surely the Hallows Arena taught Blizz a lot. Blizz Hunters non-face board control cards, PROPER ONES! And it will have  more playstyles. But nope. It shows Blizz's lack in game design and the communities lack of interest in game diversity.

The reason priests can 'machine gun' is because their particular set of card is very well suited for it.  Look at all the cheap spells they have.  Not cheap enough?  How about radiant elemental?  Running out of spells?  Try Lyra the Sunshard.  Slow early game?  Pint Size Potion, Shadow Word: Pain, Potion of Madness etc.
Hunter has had a lot of cool concepts, Lock and Load being one of them.  The problem is there aren't enough supporting cards to make them a viable deck.  It will be interesting to see if control hunter becomes a think, but right now I don't think its there.  So far the cards released for Kobolds seem pretty underwhelming.  I actually think they'll have a greater impact in arena than in standard.
It would be nice to see them attempt to fix some of their deficiencies.  Something with card draw would be nice, something that doesn't fit into a spot thats already filled (ie Seeping Oozeling competing with Savannah Highmane)
It would be nice if most classes had more than one viable deck right?  Mid range hunter is fun, but so is changing it up.

posted a message on Will hunter be nerfed again?

Balance is such a delicate act.

If you nerf buzzard + unleashed Hunters will have worse card draw than shamans.  If you nerf highmane what kind of mid to late game will a hunter have?

There are decks that do well against hunter.  Miracle for one.

I'll agree it does get old playing the same class 4/5 times though.

posted a message on So who is on track to get their heroic cardback?

    Just finished getting it.

I was slacking on my heroics so I did all but the first wing (which I had already completed) today.

Not a big fan of the heroics tbh.  Blizzard IMO is pretty ridiculous with some of their design decisions.  They want RNG in the game, just not game altering RNG.  As such, they nerfed Nat Pagle and TInkmaster Overspark.  Then they release a whole content expansion where the heroic difficulties are entirely based on RNG to make them 'challenging.'

None of the challenges were incredibly difficult.  If the RNG gods don't favor you though the grind can be annoying.

    I'm running this deck.

    Minion (19) Ability (7) Weapon (4)
    Loading Collection

Obviously adjustments should be made based on what you're facing a lot of.  I was facing a lot of druids, so I swapped in The Black Knight.  Can swap in whatever you like in that slot, Sylvanas, Baron Geddon etc...

Also experimenting with Faceless Manipulator.  I need to play with it more, but I consider that a tech spot and I'd consider any number of cards in there although typically I swap for Brawl.

Haven't really missed Ysera yet.  The games where she made a difference seemed to be few and far between.  This deck with The Black Knight, Sylvanas Windrunner, and/or Baron Geddon has been the most consistent so far.

One card I would say is non negotiable is Spellbreaker.  The silence has won me a TON of games.

*edit*Could also consider Cruel Taskmaster a tech slot.  Possibly another Slam or Cleave depending on what you're facing a lot of.  I still think it provides excellent synergy with the current deck, but you may need more removal depending on the match-ups you're facing.

I much prefer Ysera to Ragnaros atm.  EVERYONE seems like they're running big game hunter and Ysera seems to always get at least two turns before it's taken out.  I still like using sylvanas to bait out the Tinkmaster Overspark first.

Seems like mid range freeze/control with antonidas is pretty dang strong right now.  Doomsayer + Frost Nova is just so nasty.

posted a message on Board control & Enrage warrior deck looking for advice

I feel like Grommash Hellscream might fit your deck a little better than Alexstraza.  Inner Rage and Rampage = 15/8.  Or Cruel Taskmaster if you dont have those other cards at that time and you need a finisher.

I also think two Execute is also pretty necessary as it doesn't look like there is much hard removal for big creatures if it gets to that point.

Also wondering about the Shield Bearer.  I understand why its there, but I'm not sure it adds enough to the deck.  I think Cleave might offer your cards protection through removal.

My current deck has Whirlwind and Cleave.  I keep going back and forth on whether or not to replace Cleave with Wild Pyromancer.  They both provide pretty much the same function, and the pyro could potentially leave you with a body on the board.  Wild Pyromancer probably synergizes better with an enrage deck.  Also been toying with throwing Doomsayer in that spot purely for tempo purposes.

Also looks like your card draw is completely designed around Acolyte of Pain.  I'm not sure how I feel about that.

posted a message on OTK: Alexstrasza + Gorehowl

I think people are missing a large point.

This and its current variations are about control just as much as the Gorehowl/Alexstraza.  You constantly kill their minions and whittle them down when you can and then go for the set up.
