The Daily Quest completion check makes sense to me, they probably implemented that one. But that's also easy to abuse with suicide Warlock. Nevertheless, I don't think many people would do this, it's just too much hassle.
Matchmaking is based on MMR as long as you have a star multiplier. You can lose matches on purpose to drive your MMR down on ranked floors. Do this and when it hits rock bottom, start climbing. You get the same number of stars for winning no matter what your MMR is. Of course when you reach your last month's rank (no more star multiplier) this won't work, but this can be used to make a climb back to last month's rank significantly easier.
