Well 2 shadow madness is pretty amazing vs any aggro deck. Its also amazing vs the Belcher meta thats been around since Naxx. Its always a two for 1 and i don't run 2 Cabals as they are a dead early draw and not aggressive enough for me. Double cabals only been popular recently and people have seem to pick up on it in the aggro meta which is good too.

    Lets take a look.

    s8 shaman
Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (19) Ability (11)
    Loading Collection

Based on your deck, it looks pretty clunky. Lets try to streamline it a little more:

    -1 Earthshock +1 Ironbeak Owl
-1 Reincarnate (good card but you are only looking for it for the eggs imo)
    -1 Mana tide totem
+1 Azure drake -1 Gnomish Inventor (1 more mana for better body spell power and draw)
    +1 Sludge Belcher
-1 Thalnos (good card but you have your totem usually + drakes)
+Haunted Creeper x1-2 (amazing target for Argus & excellent early minion removal)
+1-2 Leper Gnome (early pressure and avg of 4 dmg)
+1 Feral Spirit (no explanation needed)

I also find throwing in 1 ooze or 1 fairy dragon have good results.

So i wonder how i am going to make this card useful over just throwing in two Arcane Shots in my deck. Seeing as there will likely be little chance of this surviving any turn after which it is played i am having trouble seeing its true value. This looks like a card that is useful when you have board control already which for a control hunter is going to be pretty hard to do. Overall, i guess we will see just how effective its going to be..

I was never a huge fan of thoughtsteal and currently use Mind Vision as a later play. If you track your opponents hand you can really figure out what been held for a long time. These are the possible big drops or AOEs/combo cards you want to grab (hilarious vs Warrior/Mage). If the game goes midrange-fest, it is possible priest may have to become much more aggressive like you say. In that sense its probably going to hurt them unless they make excellent trades which doesn't always pan out well due to possible tempo loss. As you said though any change is welcome because priest is only going to get more utility and its probably going to make people forum rage.

You forget that in 29 games you will get key card one turn earlier, and in only 1 game it will turn key card into chicken. So you loose 1 game 90% but 29 games win 53%. On average you win more. Profit.

Your logic is flawed.  A 3 mana 3/2 draw a card isnt good enough to win you the game 3% more of the time.  Also, you can have more than 1 important card.  There is a rather new mage OTK mage deck on ladder.  It runs double sorcerers apprentice and ancient mage.  If you burn any of those cards, or alextrasa, you are in deep trouble.  This means that every game you play him, you have a 10% chance to lose.  This means that it decreases you win percentage by about 8%.  This is just one example but there are a lot of decks with multiple very important cards that need to be drawn before turn 30.

I'm not saying this card is must for every possible deck. I just say it is okey card.

You must look best decks for card to see is it good, not worst decks. Your current logic is like "Ragnaros is weak card, because if you put him in zoo you will more loose. He can be dead card in zoo."

Of course there are decks where this card would be bad, as any other card in this game.

Where is it good though? What decks rely on spell-based combo enough to warrant this, and also don't have better options already.

Given the new set isn't out you dont know yet. A completely new chicken engine deck may pop up. :P

Priest really got to shine in Naxx with more defensive options to help them stabilize and it was welcome. I play them second only to my demonlock and it is primarily control. Double Shadow madness has never been so useful and i am betting in the new meta i am going to wish i had 4 shadow madness! Silence is going to become even more premium and priest is in a really good spot on that front as well. Buff priests may become pretty viable since no one is going to be able to run the amount of silences needed to quell a priests onslaught. Im looking forward to that as its always something i thought priests main role should have been and very surprised that paladins got more raw healing options to boot.

The reason Demonfire is ok as a card, is because it is an answer to the very common 3/2 drops, and can buff a demon at a critical time (so that it survives when trading against minions with similar stats). The reason Demonheart is not good as it stands, is that as removal it's inefficient, and as a buff it's much more situationally useful, relative to Demonfire which is more generally useful. By inefficient removal, I mean it doesn't answer common 5-drops like Sludge Belcher well, or Loatheb at all.

As stated previously, I think one way to make it ok would be to cost 4 mana. This would make the removal reasonably efficient; removing most of a Sludge Belcher, theoretically trading equally against the baseline 4-drop minion of yeti, etc.

Alternatively, keep it at 5 mana but allow it to hit the face. This would be my preferred option personally. Giving it 3 options that are arguably sub-par for the cost doesn't sound great, but it is because that's an immense amount of flexibility packed into one card. It would see some play even in non-demon decks, just as a more consistent finisher/removal than soul fire.

I dont know what their balance reasoning was for this card but even if you do manage to pump up a demon, say Voidwalker for instance its 6 mana for a 6/8 that costs 2 cards and can be silenced... If its removed by an owl, your tempo is lost forever. Buff cards will never be good unless they are extremely cheap... I wont even bother touching on the 5 damage aspect of it because its simply out of the question.

Don't forget that even if the Voidwalker is a 6/8 for 6 mana, it can theoritically come out T5 (If the Voidwalker was already out) and ofc anything bigger is larger. Dunno if it'd be good regardless, but that's something to consider it.

The 5 damage aspect is largely nice for Arena, where 5 mana 5 damage is respectable, and for emergencies/times 5 damage gets a lot of value even if it is primarily played for a buff.

No, youre right. I shouldn't hate on the card and its not really how i want to come across. I should have said that this card isn't going to swing games in your favor in comparison to more efficient removal. If i had a choice of which to top deck, i would be asking for Siphon Soul. Then again if i were facing a handlock this card can pump something up for me or help take down giants. With that said it is respectable, but i wish for warlock to get some more than respectable cards; especially in light of whats been released for the other classes -- this seems weak.

What I find funny is all the people defending this terrible card say all this crap and at the end of the day they will netdeck and never use damn thing.

It's clearly a joke card it doesn't have vanillia stats even though it's effect is an rng - stat neutral effect so he should have 3 or 4 hp and 3 attack. The reason he doesn't is because he's just another angry chicken card.

What I find funny is that some random person somehow knows enough about me to assume that I will do exactly as (s)he describes.

I am an innovative deckbuilder and will definitely give this card a chance. Seems like you never built your own deck before, as anyone creative knows that you have to give every card a chance and evaluate its merits depending on your own strategy and the meta / tournament you play in.

You obviously don't understand anything about probabilistic maths and this card specifically, as you otherwise wouldn't propose such incredible stats for this guy. At 4 hp and 3 attack, this guy would have be included in every single deck there is (except for Zoo) - that's how good he would be.

Before you criticize the work of others, start thinking your own. Goddamn it!

I actually fully run every deck as my own actually and I know this card is garbage compared to other card draw cards because 2 hp is terrible for a 3 cost minion the new standard is a 1/3 card + 4/4 for 3 mana right now if you didn't know see: Tinkertown technician.

Also since when did discarding a card at a 65% ratio, (based on current decklist spell minion ratio) Why would that be good? Is a 1/1 token that throws off your early curve worth it at all? Not really and you might even play the terrible 1 mana token till turn 6 or later.

Some classes actually don't need 1/1 tokens see classes: Paladin and shaman. Also other classes can do this ability: 1 damage to tokens not actually firm presence on the board. Do you run razorfen hunter in every deck I assume? Because it's about all you get with this card and it costs 1 less.

Show me the deck you will make will this so I can laugh at it.

He is correct in saying you arent being very forgiving to this card. In freeze mage, some kind of spell rogue/miracle and even a new spell damage shaman i can see this being a late game play into board presence and a much needed wipe or finisher. Instead of bashing the card, lets just say its extremely niche. I am also sure you will be seeing it and maybe even losing to it some time in the future so good luck out there.

Love gold cards, but i play on my 42" TV and i wish they would fix the jagged edges on not just gold cards, but all of them. Anyhow i am slowly crafting all the gold demons, of course its a damn slow process but its going to be so hilariously awesome to complete a golden demon deck, even if it is gimmicky (maybe not with GVG who knows). Recently i've crafted:

    Spectral Knight
Because it looks so damn badass.

People forget that no other class is able to get minions on the board than druid with Wild Growth and Innervate. Creepz, stealth tigers @ 3 and 5 mana make this a pure value on the following turn unless they are AOEd down, which rarely happens. Its hard to actually say for certain, but maybe it will be a win more card if the druid has superior tempo to begin with. This card will likely not swing any games in your favor.

Itll be soon enough that we will see. I dont see an issue with Voljin being real, but that mage legend is just crap because it reveals its presence on draw. Not only that but the opponent can even track where it is in your hand from that being revealed. If these aren't fake i'd be surprised.

Dont expect either of them to be on par power wise with Tirion or Jaxxy. Both of those characters are stronger characters in the WoW story so you can expect thier power to be of lesser quality. Mal'Ganis led armies as a pseudo general i suppose, and not really a good general at all. I will be betting that he will pump demons up, make them easier to play or help your own minions in some other way.

    @Christos - Monday likely.

Ehh, lore isn't relevant to power, I mean how powerful was Sludge Belcher in the lore?

Sludge belcher wasn't really a character in the story. I moreso meant that tirion is an EPIC character, so they wouldn't have made him with terrible stats. Jaxxy too, is appropriately EPIC in regards to who he is. Syvannas commands banshees and they possess minions, she got an ability suited to who she is. Nat pagle wasnt much of a fighter, but he sure did love fish.

Contrary to the unfortunate beliefs of the haters of this card, its pretty much perfectly suited to druid. Hunter has more to do with taming and killing beasts, where this card clearly highlights that druids ARE beasts, noobs. Druid doesnt really need more strong minions but i expect i will be using this one over some of the larger drops in mid-range now.
