FWIW - there are enormously diminishing returns for purchasing more than 50ish packs when a new expansion drops. With 50 packs, you'll get a full play-set of just about every common, and almost a full play-set of all the "playable" rares. After dusting golds, duplicates, and junk epic and legendaries, you'll be able to craft a couple play-sets of good epics, and a good legendary or two. If you open additional packs, you're likely primarily looking for "playable" epics and legendaries, since you'll have all the rest of the good cards. Only about one-third of the cards from any expansion has ever seen regular play on ladder, so after your initial 50 packs, you'll get a good epic you don't already have about once in every dozen packs, and a good legendary about once every 60 packs, give or take. For the most part, the packs you open after your initial 50 will just be giving you dust, and a few bad rares.
But I know people who drop serious coin on 400 to 500 packs, then dust duplicates and redraft everything in gold.
What rank/server is this and what kind of magi are popular?
Ranks 10-7, NA server. Vast majority were Secret Mage. Priests were mostly Spiteful. Warlocks were cube or control.
I was playing exclusively cube/control warlock. Tried the "pick one deck and stick with it" suggestion. Needless to say, I went nowhere. Started at Rank 9, finished at rank 10 ... made it to 7 at one point. Seemed virtually every other match was a bad matchup.
I was in the same boat. Just from 11 trying to get to 10. Would make 11 and 3 stars on a win streak us8ng mage then would loose my way back to 12. Did it 4 times over the weekend. The tilt was real.

Yes if you want it. I bought all adventures, regardless.
If you plan on playing wild, yes. Or you could but it complete it and dust it all.
