Buffs already create a problem of encouraging hoarding of cards. With standard its not that bad because it is generally a bad idea to dust anything non 3rd copy before standard cycle ends but for wild its awful. You are basically creating a motivation to never dust anything because it can be buffed later.

Exactly. Less dust in the system means more money to packs.

    Not proportionately, but still.

It would actually be against my individual interest, but if that meant some wee bit of serious attention to Wild, i'd take it...

posted a message on Reckless Experimenter nerf text should have been on Sn1p-Sn4p instead!

The thing is this SN1P-SN4P is just an awfully designed card.

The Experimenter nerf announcement proves they had no clue when they announced the new Mech.

Right now i have very little faith in their card design team.

Lyra for 4? You are crazy, lyra is strong even without this buff, with 2 3 elementals its pretty good combo

There is currently no Lyra or Miracle Priest in the Wild meta.

The Combo comes at turn 7 now. Turn 6 with the buff.

In Wild the game is already sealed by then, and Priest's Miracles (generating Random spells) can hardly fix that at that point.

Compare with Fandral Staghelm (still heavily unused in Wild)

This is because cards need to be nerfed. The reason you don't see miracle priest is why would you ever play any priest that isn't big priest.

     Sadly true...

    "half-serious". I wrote half-serious.

Just, you know, characters, classic characters in a fantasy setting.

Not humanized silly beasts out of nowhere. That's it. Just it.

    Pretty simple tbh...

I actually like the opponent's from lore. Like the Haro Setting-Sun I have in my avatar, or the goblin barber girl. They feel like cool characters, fitting in a fantasy magical city, possibly with some potential depth behind them.

I could definitely take some vulpera or stuff like that in my encounters, as opponents or stuff, I can also take ridiculous stuff happen ofc, but IMPERSONATING cartoonish animals that seem to come from a Disney movie, that I can't take, sorry.

It's actually something that never happened in Warcraft, despite the amount of ridiculous stuff, it's never directly attached to the player.

So far only the Arakkoa and the Gnoll are decent Hero characters, imo.

posted a message on When do you rope an opponent?

I do it with emoting Big Priests and I may do it with Darkest Hour Warlocks too.

I do not judge them for their deck choices, but I know they play those decks because they enjoy to abuse their opponents through highroll/memes. So it's abuse for abuse. BM for BM.

But even then, I do it quite rarely, since it also means wasting my own time.

Truth is, if I had infinite time, I would rope EVERY Big Priest and EVERY Darkest Hour Warlock...

Heroes feel exceedingly silly and childish tbh.

But I like how they implemented minor expedients and yet fully give the impression of a deep setting, like the carts on the board, to represent being in the Streets of Dalaran.

I just wish we could impersonate half-serious heroes, not secondary characters from cartoons...

    Quote from RavenSunHP >>

But now, after 3 full years of Standard, nerfing Basic or Classic cards is UNACCEPTABLE, no matter what.

Those cards were designed years ago, when noone could predict what future will bring. Some of them were strong - but not OP - because number of tools was limited. Now, some of those cards are synergising too well with newest additions, so they have to be either nerfed, either HoFed.

Let's take Shield Slam as an example. Back then - during basic/classic era - armor options for Warrior were very limited. Shield BlockArmorsmith, hero power... and that was it. To kill heavy minion (like 10 HP+) he had to stack armor for very log time, using only hero power (which was almost impossible) or play combo Shield BlockShield Block + Hero Power + Shield Slam for 9 mana! That was fair, huge effect for big cost and was usable only one time. Now, when Warrior can generate tons of armor with ease, Shield Slam effectively serves as 1 mana "Destroy a minion" card. Isn't that crazy? Noone can outtempo that!

Now look at Rouge's spells, which she could combine with Preparation during basic/classic era, and compare them with spells from current standard, it's pretty much the same thing. That's why some old cards should not co-exist with current ones.

And they knew it very well from the beginning of Standard: Prep was a candidate for HoF for how many years?

I don't care if full OPness comes now, it was OBVIOUS it would have happened.

Which is why a nerf NOW is unacceptable.

Because up to now they have designed spells with often Prep in mind. Now all those spells are worse, not just Prep. Some are still playable, some are more junk than they were already.

Necrium Vial, Cannon Barrage, Fan of Knives, Vanish. Just to name a few.

As I said, Rogue will find a way.

But no, there's no excuse at all for still nerfing Evergreen cards in 2019.

I agree with nearly everything, EXCEPT:

    1. Mad Summoner wat??? It sounds like you haven't really played the card.

    2. Mojomaster Zihi still does nothing at all against Darkest Hour Warlock.

posted a message on What has happened with Casual?

As long as the supreme core goal of the game is winning, Casual will just stay an Unranked competitive mode.

They should introduce moderate gold/dust rewards for Class Levels, and shut down once and for all the silly 10g per 3 wins from Casual. Keep that in Ranked only.

Then, newbies would still have a favourable resource curve, to be pursued in Casual, and Casual would not be a place for farming for veterans, because the usual gold farming for them would be in Ranked only...

posted a message on So Shaman is now Priest?

Well, this is the downside of Standard:

Your main class is NOT guaranteed to be competitive at one of the things it's supposed to be good at.

And since classes' portfolios overlap, the situation you mention is just a normal "day" in Standard, however frustrating.

This thing has its source in the very thing that leads game design in HS: people like spikes of power in a specific direction, and can endure the lack of support as long as they can hope the spike they want will come one day. The same principle, reversed, applies with hated spikes, and relief from them with Rotation.

"fresh and new" is entirely based on that principle.

Notice that the same principle, that of spikes, also indirectly makes Wild the place of increasingly obnoxious decks and interactions...

People like it. And there we go...

posted a message on Short thought on the Rogue "destructive" nerfs.

Rogues always find a way. That's a certainty.

Thing is, once you define an Evergreen set, you must make sure it is thoroughly fine.

It would have been ok a brutal set of nerfs on Classic, once it it became an Evergreen. Same on Basic.

Maybe also after a full year of Standard, at the end of Kraken, once you see how it fares.

But now, after 3 full years of Standard, nerfing Basic or Classic cards is UNACCEPTABLE, no matter what.

It's simply ridiculous, and telling of either a clueless design team, or careless of the overall quality of the game. Or both.

posted a message on How to guarantee Sn1p Sn4p will be fine without any nerf or change to the card...

Actually, the easiest way out is saying the announcement was wrong, and SN1P-SN4P was meant to cost (4) from the beginning.

It would become a silly legendary at that point but Marin the Fox exists so...
