PraiseNehekara posted a message on Steal Priest - 90% WR, 18/2, 5-1 RankPosted in: Steal Priest - 90% WR, 18/2, 5-1 RankVery very very fun deck. However I made my proper list with some changes :
- Cutted off the two Cloning Device for two Seance, which I found more useful, you can use it to steal an opponent's big minion which can be later summon with Talanji, but I use it mostly for a second Catrina Muerte, and always keep my last copy for Archivist Elysiana in fatigue matchup (war often run Elysiana so having two just negate their one)
- Cutted off Zerek and Vivid Nightmare and the two Injured Blademaster because i felt they were simply useless, in replacement I added 2 Grave Horror you oftenly got them for 2/3/4 mana as you are casting a lot of spells, one Convincing Infiltrator and one Big Bad Archmage, well those two, especially Infiltrator could be changed I added them quite randomly to test it out, however Big Bad Archmage can do some serious shit when rezd by Catrina Muerte
- And I added Princess Talanji, because she is just a wincon in herself if your opponent do not have control or at least max pressure for your opponent, she really doing wonder, summoning Talanji + Boom Reaver + Crowley/Grommash + 2 Dyno with 8 mana crystals is just a blast against war. And it happened to me in the two last game.
i have only 3 games, all against war, loss the first because I needed to know the deck a bit better and Brawl RNG won the game for the war, the 2 second I just obliterated them keeping outvaluing them until fatigue or concede. it works really really well against those pesky wars, and I gotta say I love it !

Sovereign_State posted a message on [Standard] Bomb Warrior Counter WarlockPosted in: [Standard] Bomb Warrior Counter WarlockHere's one hint to help you succeed in a common matchup you'll be having on Ladder:
Use Arch-Villain Rafaam to turn all the bombs they shuffled into your deck into legendaries that you can get value with! Prioritize Arch-Villain Rafaam in your mulligan and keep him until they've shuffled a majority of their bombs into your deck already, unless you need to use him earlier to survive or feel you can outright take the game by playing him. Arch-Villain Rafaam is not a card you use at the end of the game once you've hit fatigue. Ideally, you'd use him on Turn 7,
follow-up with a Princess Talanji (generated by Arch-Villain Rafaam) on Turn 8,
and proceed to out-tempo and out-value and oppress your opponent with your newfound legendary friends.
However, Archivist Elysiana is included in the deck as a handcuff (in Fantasy Football: the idea behind handcuffing is drafting a player’s direct positional back-up as an insurance policy should the starter get injured). To complete the analogy, Archivist Elysiana is included in this deck as an insurance policy should Arch-Villain Rafaam, our star player, get "injured". In this case, the term "injured" refers to Arch-Villain Rafaam being played just shortly before or during fatigue, with little or no resources and/or value generated. By including Archivist Elysiana in the deck, you have the opportunity to generate 10 net cards (assuming fatigue), which can be upgraded to legendaries with Arch-Villain Rafaam. Additionally, Archivist Elysiana can provide you with another deck cleansing, should those pesky bombs be plentiful.
Why would you wait so long to play Rafaam? Well, here are a number of possible reasons:
1. Rafaam was taking a sweet vacay at the bottom of your deck, so you didn't get a chance to play him earlier.
2. Rafaam wanted to join the party but you had to send him away with a Plot Twist in order to survive a significant threat presented by the opponent. This is not ideal but may prove necessary over the course of the match against a Bomb Warrior, specifically if you find yourself without an answer to an early Blastmaster Boom with prior bomb-shuffle investment by the opponent.
3. The opposing Bomb Warrior thought they were clever by holding onto their bomb-shuffling cards until you only had a few cards remaining in their deck, expecting you to blow Rafaam early. The aforementioned strategy does not work in Bomb Warrior's favor, for reasons I would love to explain, if it didn't play right into the hands of Bomb Warrior players viewing this deck (this is war, people).
Not this time, chiefy ;P

Truffles20 posted a message on Does anyone enjoy the ladder anymore?Posted in: Standard FormatIts not that kobolds is one of the worst expansions, the expansion is fine. The problem is the amount of broken stuff that is in the meta right now. The strongest decks in the meta are so powerful right now that if you try to experiment, you are more than likely just going to get smashed. Getting pinged down from 30 health by Razakus Priest is not fun or interactive, neither is getting a bunch of 8+ mana worth of minions continually spawned in your face by big priest or warlocks usually by turn 6 or getting your face smashed in by aggro.
To be fair this happens in every card game. As the game gets older the powercreep gets stronger. It happened in MTG and it pretty much happens in every card game that is similar. This is why when I hear people go on about how much better eternal or shadowverse are compared to hearthstone, I just think to myself come back when those card games are about 4 years older, the longer the game is around, the worse the powercreep gets because as the game becomes more competitive, there is pressure on the newer cards to be stronger and stronger otherwise they are considered hot garbage. As a result the longer a game is around, the more oppressive the top tier decks end up being because more broken cards keep getting added and its usually the most broken cards that end up seeing regular play in constructed.
I personally think Hearthstone needs more game modes in order to keep things fresh. At the moment we have arena and the two constructed formats, standard and wild which In my opinion is not really enough. Or at least bring about rotations earlier because I think by now people are starting to get sick of MSOG which brought patches, raza, kazakus and jades into the metagame.

Dunscot posted a message on New Shaman Hero Card - Hagatha The WitchPosted in: Card DiscussionHagatha is at least "playable", but this is ass. Getting random spells is pretty strong, I do not deny that. Having this as a permanent effect is indeed threatening. The card is alright, though the battlecry could have been much better for that mana cost, either targeting enemies only or dealing 5 damage.
What really bothers me: Is that really the new "class identity" of Shaman now? Get random spells and see how lucky you get? Pretty much like Casino Mage has been, with Witch's Apprentice being a carbon copy of Babbling Book? Are you serious?!
Not only is this a confession of lack of creativity, it is another "fun" theme for a struggling class which is likely not doing very well. And the worst part is, if it should be doing well, it will make the game so terribly random again. Now they just need to add a super powerful Shaman spell that feels like winning the lottery, like Firelands Portal, and we can all have "fun" winning and losing by dicerolls all over again.
It feels like whenever they run out of ideas, they just add more extremely random stuff that might be fun playing with but feels terrible playing against. I'm REALLY disappointed.

Psy_Kik posted a message on Does it make sense to skip an expansion?Posted in: General DiscussionTop tier decks from now on are generally going to require a mix of epics and legendarides from across all active standard expansions. Lots of class epics and legendaries that are absolute requirements for a compettiive deck to work that will only work in that one deck.
....Unless its a designated (by blizzard) free-to-play deck, for example from last expansion - Spiteful priest. These decks will be designed to have a lower shelf-life than others, but will certainly be competitive for a time. Cards like Corridor Creeper and Patches happen when they are a little too keen on this.
This is not a cynical view, just analyse your collection, the decks and expansions cards came with, it's obvious. Force-fed, expensive deck recipes. Discovery and creativity in this game is rapidly turning into an illusion, even just after an expansion launch.
Anyway, the result of this, if you want to keep playing seriously - you will struggle if you skip entire expansions.

Disguised Toast already 5-0 with this thing. It can make quite the comeback. Still not sure if it beats Shudderwock.

I appreciate the tons of advice being given on this thread, and hope it helps others like me. Glad to see I'm not alone, and there's opportunity to just play the decks I love while learning throughout the way.

I love this game, but I also tilt easy when I can't progress up the ladder.
I think about my rank number (currently 15) all the time. I see pros on stream, and wonder how they get easy opponents all the time. But I also see them lose often, or try meme decks, and not get so tilted when they drop consecutive games. I don't think they (and others) take their rank rating so seriously, and just want to have fun.
That's what I want, just to enjoy the game and not obsess over that little number next to my avatar.
How do you do it? How do you approach all this?

Or can you just play tempo on curve and win through trades?
Feels like I've been seeing too many OTK/TTK, turn 6 Spitefuls, or Jaina that decide the game by themselves.

Thanks for the idea, really liking the Keleseth version. I added in a Mossy Horror to help against those Paladin decks.
