This would belong in the salt thread to many, but since I wasn't playing to win, it made me laugh, so I'm posting it in pepper.

I was playing a deck that I call "Garbage Bomber" at Rank 17 in Standard. It is based on Bomb Warrior, but has Warsong Commanders and mediocre charge minions. I was up against a Mage who had a very lucky Astral Rift. Edwin VanCleef happened in what appeared to be a deck running Mana Cyclone, meaning it probably could've been even bigger than 14/14. I just laughed and brushed it off.

I was playing around with Dalaran Heist, and I had gotten a nice thing going with Rakanishu. Ichoron was the seventh boss, and I went in confident that I could beat him. It was going well until I played Yogg-Saron, and the first spell he cast was Book of Specters, which discarded a Firelands Portal, a Cabalist's Tome, and the Sow the Seeds buff treasure. Then I drew minions and a couple of spells I would've been okay with discarding, such as Mirror Image. I eventually just conceded, as I didn't have much hope of winning.

Dear god, I just got destroyed by Lorewalker Cho in arena.

The game is 11-2 and he gets it off the random summon 2 drop lackey.

Cho just yeets all of my good spells and makes every turn hell for me.

I just got destroyed by the goddamn panda.

I have never been above 8 wins, but I had an Arena match about half an hour ago where I lost because someone was lucky enough to draft Leeroy Jenkins and then topdeck it for lethal in a Warlock mirror. Thank you for reminding me of fucking Standard Rogues, whoever you are.

I've been at Rank 10 in Wild playing a Mage deck that I call "Reno's Casino." It runs one copy of a lot of random effects, plus Reno Jackson and Kazakus. A few hours ago, I played my Unstable Portal, and Resident Shy Guy comes out, or as we all know him, Mysterious Challenger. He only pulled one secret, as Mana Bind is the only one that I run, but I probably caused my opponent to have some flashbacks. What's even funnier is that I ended up resurrecting him with a Kazakus Potion, and then used Molten Reflection on him because he was my biggest minion. I did lose that match, but I was pretty happy afterwards. I also just won with the deck versus a Wild Token Druid. Blast Wave is fun and awesome against anything of that nature, but especially wide boards waiting for buff cards.

I don't remember who I picked during the seasonal championships but last World Championship, I picked the runner-up. This time, I picked someone that still gave me 3 packs. I would have been happy with 1 pack after watching that final showdown, though.

Played against Rogue with Summoner Mage. Rogue uses Faceless Lackey, gets Khadgar. Rogue Shadowsteps the Faceless Lackey and replays it into DOUBLE MILLHOUSE MANASTORM. I have no answer or way to get a bunch of Grave Horrors on my side to stop that. I was dead within a couple of turns. Ice Barrier and Frost Nova from Firetree Witchdoctors only delayed that.

Just got my 9th 500-win golden hero!

This is the order I did it in:

    1. Hunter
    2. Priest
    3. Mage
    4. Paladin
    5. Druid
    6. Rogue
    7. Warlock
    8. Shaman
    9. Warrior

I know some people don't care about it, but I set it as a little challenge for myself. :)

Grats! I have only Mage so far. Warlock and Hunter are both around 415, Warlock is only there due to my recent surge in wanting to win with forms of Renouncelock. Paladin is at 393, Shaman and Priest are about 250, the rest are around 200 or below, with Rogue on the higher side of that. Druid is my last class to level 60 (currently 55) and Warrior got to level 60 just the other day. I remember that in my first few months of playing regularly in late 2015, all the other classes were approaching 50 ladder wins, Hunter maybe even 100, but Rogue was at 3. I didn't like Rogue much back then. More Burgle-type cards changed that. Now it has my second favorite deck in Tesspionage.

posted a message on Seems like the game really wants me to play Priest decks right now.

I was not sure where to post this, as it is a little bit of everything, but here goes.

I have opened four legendaries in the past week or so. Three of them are run in some sort of Priest deck, and only one of them is a Priest exclusive.

    1. I treated myself to some Old Gods packs about a week ago now with the hope of getting Yogg-Saron back. I opened Y'shaarj, which is obviously right at home getting pulled out as a 1/1 by Barnes in Big Priest. Other decks, too, but mostly Big Priest. I have every card for Wild Big Priest except Catrina Muerte, and although I tried becoming the monster without her, it felt so evil to me.

    2. I bought the Raven Bundle a couple of days ago and it had two legendaries. One was the exception in Countess Ashmore. The other was Zerek's Cloning Gallery. I have Velen and Malygos; it would not take much more for me to make a Wild Cloning Gallery Priest either.

    3. I had a nice Warlock Arena run that went 4-3 last night. By this point, every time I opened a RoS pack, I was saying on my recordings that if I opened Catrina Muerte, I was going to scream. Orange mist emanated from one of the cards in the pack from the Arena run. I was thinking "Please don't be Muerte." It wasn't, but it was Chef Nomi, staple of the most powerful Priest deck in Standard. It is low-tier, but Standard is a very different ballgame for Priests right now. Has anyone ever felt this way about any class?

posted a message on Arena Highlights: share your stories

A few days ago, I drafted a zoo-centric Warlock with triple Darkshire Councilman and went 3-3. Today, I drafted another zoo-centric Warlock deck with one Councilman, a handful of deathrattle minions, and double Undertaker. Currently at 4-1 with some close calls. Kabal Courier is some great glue when it gets lucky. I got Antonidas versus a Druid at 3-1; it wasn't even close. A mage lost to my Argent Commander topdeck and Knife Juggler in hand with said Mage at 5...only 3 targets to hit, but one was Hogger, Doom of Elwynn, and he also had lethal. A paladin lost after Kabal Courier gave me Kazakus and I drew the first Undertaker (my only duplicate) around turn 9. I did the 8 damage, gain 10 armor potion. Thought I had lethal with a Soulfire afterward, but accidentally got the armor and damage amounts mixed up in my head. The Paladin nearly won, but Evil Genius came off the top and gave me Kobold Lackey.

Why I picked Undertaker twice: First time, it was with Duskboar and Clockwork Automaton, the latter of which is the worst pick ever in a Warlock draft no matter what else is there. Second time, I was like "Yeah, sure." with Corruption and Sense Demons.

EDIT: Went 4-3. Still got Chef Nomi out of the pack.

I was playing my Even Renouncelock against the typical Wild Zoolock, with Hobgoblins and Magic Carpets being best buddies. I put my faith in Renounce Darkness on Turn 2 and rolled Priest. It was looking pretty good until my opponent played Rafaam after finding damage to kill two 8/8 minions thanks in part to Kobold Lackey from Evil Genius. The Zoolock played Darius Crowley, Boom Reaver, which coincidentally pulled another Boom Reaver, Kazakus with proc, and it was the end for me. I just love that I put my faith in Renounce Darkness, he put his faith in Rafaam, and Rafaam came out on top with two Standard legendaries of the three different ones. I hope that's foreshadowing for Bunnyhoppor at Worlds; he hasn't had much luck with Rafaam so far. I almost picked him as my champion, but decided on Justsaiyan instead for some reason.

I have never played Freeze Mage, with the only possible exception being last year's version of this brawl. I hated playing against it so much that I dusted a golden Doomsayer early in my Hearthstone days, and I didn't want to become the monster, similar to my attitude toward Big Priest and especially Darkest Hour Warlock in Wild today. (I know that Freeze Mage was never the worst monster, I just thought it was the worst to play against.)

Yet, I won with it twice in 3 games in this brawl several years later. First was against Pavel's Rogue; I got my burn before my opponent got his. On the second one, I see Malfurion, I nearly concede on the spot, then I remember that it could be Firebat's Druid. Luckily enough, it was. I froze stuff, accidentally used Alexstrazsa when I was one damage off lethal next turn, Emperor Thaurissan reductions came soon after with more freezing stuff, and I had him. I knew how to do it properly, which was probably my greatest strength.

Played about 15 games so far, here's my favorite moments:

    1. Druid played Dark Arakkoa into a Doomsayer. Apparently my opponent didn't know Druids ran that card without C'Thun. Stiil lost because Alexstrazsa has never removed armor as far as I know, but it was fun.

    2. Won with the Undertaker Zoo with double Soulfire lethal and a 50/50 chance for one Soulfire to discard the other.

    3. Won with the Aggro Shaman in a long and very close match with the Razakus Priest. Having played only the Wild version when it was meta, I thought he was going to kill me with Spawn of Shadows, then I remembered that it rotated out before Razakus/Shadowreaper Anduin was a thing.

    4. Won with the Undertaker Hunter against the Freeze Mage. To be fair, my opponent did not play it very well. At the end, I was like "Oh, I win? Don't mind if I do."

    5. Losing a Miracle Rogue mirror. (I had Firebat's; my opponent had Pavel's.) Sometimes 5 mana Auctioneer is not enough if you get Edwin VanCleef past the point of being able to play him on the miracle draw turn.

    6. Pirate Rogue opponent gets Lab Recruiter from Swashburglar and uses it on Patches. It was a closer call than I thought it was going to be thanks to Blade Flurry, but I lost that one.

    7.  Getting Power of Creation from Babbling Book, and Vaporize from the other Babbling Book. I thought "What good is Vaporize against Freeze Mage?" Alexstrazsa ended up getting Vaporized when I thought my opponent was going to go for my Azure Drake. I won with 7 damage Fireball and ping a turn or two later.

BTW I began playing ladder in May 2015; I never knew the Undertaker meta. Undertaker seemed powerful way back when. Now we've seen many more nerfs. I love this brawl.

EDIT: Had this one just now.

    8. My opponent was Midrange Druid versus Tempo/Pirate Rogue. Druid had Cenarius on board. I was at 21, he was much lower. Force of Nature plus Savage Roar goes off, but the Druid trades instead of dealing lethal damage to my face. Then I play another card or two and he concedes.

Playing Even Renouncelock at Rank 10, I lost to two Jade Druids in a row. I get into the next match. Malfurion appears; it was Lunara the previous two matches.

Me: "Please, not another one of those Jade fuckers."

Druid's Turn 1: *Coins into double Dire Mole*

Me: "Oh, yeah, Token Druid's a thing in Wild, too." (I had almost forgotten that, seeing as how I haven't seen one in Wild for a day or so.)

Druid's Turn 2: *casts two copies of Mark of the Lotus*

Druid's Turn 3: *casts Mark of Y'shaarj on a Dire Mole; draws and plays Acornbearer.* All this is going on as I am getting horrible draws for the situation.

My Turn 4: Knowing the match was looking pretty hopeless by this point, I played Renounce Darkness, rolled Shaman, remembered that I only had one class card in hand, and that became Hallazeal, which might have helped if I had more time. As I ended my turn, I knew that Savage Roar was two over lethal, and you can probably guess where this is going. Yep, left-most card in the Druid's hand is Savage Roar, meaning said Druid got a Turn 4 lethal. I should be careful what I wish for sometimes.

This is a post about me using the wrong Renounce deck of my four at the wrong time; by "shenanigans" I mean Turn 5 lethal.

    My Renounce Group:

Even: Has the best chances of surviving Flamewaker plus double Sorcerer's Apprentice shenanigans on Turn 5 with Mountain Giant/Faceless Shambler, played it two matches before the Mage in question against Jade Druid; lost and I switched to another one of mine

Zoo: Seeing as I don't do Darkest Hour, (yet) this is second best. Has Soulfire/Shadow Bolt to stop the Flamewaker before it starts going ape on my face.

Reno: Only one copy of the two 4 damage cards; also dead before Reno can go off.

Cube: Does not run Shadow Bolt due to 3 mana prince; I'm almost positive I don't run two copies of Soulfire, and I will be fixing my list due to what happened here. Dead before Skull can proc just once. Yet, that's the one I was using.

I bought the Raven bundle, and I got Countess Ashmore, a golden Supercollider, and Zerek's Cloning Gallery. Looks like I'll be playing more Priest in Wild, as much as I hate to admit it, seeing as I have Velen and Malygos. I still love Renounce Darkness to the end, though, and I actually got to Rank 9 and stayed there for more than two matches with my new Even version. Today is a good day!
