Compared to machine gun priest which lead to the DK having to be nerfed? Or the Warlock DK which was a big part of why cube-lock was so powerful? Druid DK was massive in several high tier decks.
Jaina carried control mage decks but those decks were rarely above tier 2 and her hero power was useless if you were too far behind or couldnt actually kill with it.
The way i see it Shudderwock is effectively the next pre-KotFT Jade Druid.
IE a deck that causes a whole lot of salt and frustration for control deck players because it mercilessly crushes slower strategies but it's fairly mediocre against aggro and tempo that beat it before it can do it's thing.
It doesn't feel nice to run into a deck you have about a 5% at best chance of defeating but if you're only running into it 10-15% of the time it's not a huge deal.
Mean Streets was literally the only expansion since vanilla that I've barely played at all. The "dead by turn 4" meta was literal cancer. Besides Jade Druid which in itself was extremely oppressive due to it destroying control decks, every other popular deck was a hyper aggressive 'face' deck. 4 out of 5 games ending before turn 6 is not my idea of a good time.
I love this, it effectively replaces the Frost Nova / Doomsayer combo in control mage which could be really frustrating if you only draw into one of them. Additionally there's no worrying about the potential for your Doomsayer being killed, silenced or transformed.
Realistically, as long as you pull at least a 3 cost card you'd be happy 4 times out of 5.
If you can buff it to a 5/3 with Deadly Poison / Squidface AND give it Lifesteal then it might be worth it but that is a whole lot of effort to go through and probably wouldn't be very consistent..
I've never really had an issue with netdecking but I usually try to make a few changes to a netdeck to give it a more unique feel.
What I have an issue with is people who just netdeck the best tier 1 decks all the time. It just shows you aren't in it for fun, you just want easy wins. I'd rather play a lesser deck that I enjoy even if it means losing more often.
Mage has a lot of high cost spells so this could be very good. Flamestrike, Firelands and Blizzard all see play already and there's Pyroblast and Meteor too. Plenty of options.

Feel like this will just be a 4/3 Divine Shield for 4 most of the time since it will likely just die before your next turn.

Voted playable. The average power level of legendaries is above average so chances are you'll get something at least decent.
Only see it being played in control decks where having an extra card late-game can be important and game winning.
Should be alright in arena as cards that generate other cards are typically very valuable in that format.

I am so beyond done with Raza Priest, cancerous bullshit. Can't wait for that shit to be booted from standard.

Variant of Big Spell Mage I'm thinking of giving a go that will probably change once I've seen all the set.

So works with Servant of Kalimos and probably Pyros 2nd and 3rd forms in elemental mage too...

More options for a potential questing elemental mage deck. Primordial Glyph, Cabalist's Tome, Ruby Spell Stone, Steam Surger. Heaps of options.

Seems like a good firefly replacement in Elemental Mage. Helps keep you going until you play/draw the DK.
