I think the main problem is that it can win the game so early on. An 8/8 Edwin on turn 2 (while also drawing cards, and clearing minions) has always been a problem, it's just magnified right now due to the fact the rogue is so strong. Combine that with the fact that early game is super weak for most decks and cheap removal is gone with the rotation, it poses a problem.
HOWEVER, I don't think this is the THE card I would target. If rogue can be brought to balance, I think Edwin loses his power. Nerfing cards around him, like prep, backstab, shadow step, etc., can help curb his power level. I think the thing that makes him so powerful is all the things you can do in conjunction with him coming down.
Run elysiana for the bombs and play an even longer game is the only thing that i can get out of the top of my head, but bomb warrior seems to be a hard counter to mechathun decks
You could actually do this on 7 and play a shorter game too. Remove all bombs up to that point and half your deck.
This meta is by no means the worst we’ve seen. (I never want to go back to frozen throne launch.) But I feel like every deck is only based on value generation. How much more RNG value can I get.
Most of the meta feels like arena. There are very few alternate viable win conditions that aren’t just control the board and generate value.
I’m excited for where this meta will end up but I think we might need to see some small adjustments to cards before it really feels coherent to me.
I am getting very concerned about Archivist. Is it a broken card? No. But it disables any combos in the current meta, and encourages hour + games.
MEchacthun...hmmm lets counter it with hakkar...him lets make hakkar useless
Because bomb warrior is braindead retardly easy to play a card like that is necessary. Finally a NEUTRAL that avoids fatigue instead of just rogue or druid with their fucking bullshit.
You're not wrong.
Unfortunately, Mecha'thun doesn't have a great deck right now. Hakkar/Bomb (which is arguably the best counter to control) is disabled by this neutral card so every control deck is going to run it, along with the combo disruption we have now.
I just don't want to reach a meta where games reach turn timer or it comes down to who got the better discover cards. All I think is that Archivist should cost 10 so it can't be combo'd with.
I was the same way. Except the way current druid is going they never run heal, they favor gaining armor.
After the rotation they'll still have some armor gain but perhaps druid will utilize healing as well, which will make crystal stag a serious threat, mid game.

No because he changes zones.

I love the BM in the example video. King Krush lethal with 10 mana, but plays the Scarlet Webweaver first.

The article even says, Peter Whalen responded and said this is supposed to be how Overkill works

Right. Not saying bring back OTKs, but the decks before the rotation felt like they had a little more synergy.
I think I'm more concerned with the clown fiesta of RNG value swings. "add random [x]" cards. If that makes sense.
Maybe it will just take me a little bit to get used to the "old" style of hearthstone.

I kind of agree with MrDuloup.

Hearthstone Rule #347 - Never disenchant tech cards.

I'm excited to play this card.
I'm not excited to have this card played against me.

You need "LIKE SWATTING INSECTS!" twice.

I'll just say it, since we're all thinking it... Malygos
