We can't afford to take repeated damage from minions so we need to control the board in the early game to allow our mid-game threats to hit their face repeatedly. The Fiery War Axe is the best early board control card in the game and that is what is should be used for. At some point we ignore the board and push for lethal.
Sound like you are playing this from a board control perspective rather than damage. Admittedly sometimes you just don't get a 1, 2, or 3 drop which can be killer, but that'll happen with every deck. Also I have no idea how you drop 5 ranks with 7 loses.
You are never really in a possition where both players have alot of minions out on the board to make use of commanding shout. We are the aggressor so we don't need to clear the board. Vs. aggro matchups where we do need to clear the board Brawl does a better job.
Honestly just play a little with it in your deck and see if it's any good. Card draw is always nice though :D
You should always play around their board clears whenever possible. For Example I will only play 2 minions at a time vs. priest because of Achenai Circle Combo. Mech-Mage can be pretty gross. You just gotta pray for Sludge Belchers and maybe a Brawl if you get behind. Note: about half of my mage games were against some sort of control mage not mech-mage.
Shade of Naxxramas is the best 3 drop I could find, and fits the theme of the deck. Make sure the Shade grows enough before you reveal him though. It doesn't really help against any one matchup, but is simply better than any other card.
Gorehowl and Arcanite Reaper are better in different situations. I find that 2 less mana and 3 more damage to the face is more useful then the board control from Gorehowl
Yeah 2 Faerie Dragons are too much unless you are running into a lot of rogues or mech-mage. Right now I'm running into Paladin and Priest so I did the same sub you did.
Generally, hit the face with minions and control the board with our weapons. If you don't have anything to hit with your weapon hold it until you have another weapon in hand. Taunt Druid is the tough match-up for this deck. It gave me two of my losses. Vs. Warlock try to be as aggressive as possible, since Life Tap will hurt them as well.

Generally Go face with minions control the board with weapons unless you are pushing for lethal which is around turn 6-7.

I played a bit yesterday and I replaced a Faerie Dragon with Dr. Boom. Grommash and Leeroy are also considerations, but they don't make it for me.

If you are facing alot of mech-mages I recommend. Putting in two Ironbeak Owls for Spellbreakerand Dread Corsair and Dr. Boom instead of Arcanite Reaper

Never considered Dr. Boom. I'll put in him in the deck. My meta isn't really taunt heavy, but your meta is going to be different then mine.
edit: thanks for the suggestion Dr. Boom is still a powerful card.

I really like the deck. 1 Reaver isn't enough. I took out an Upgrade! for him

Just wait until you have a good feel for the deck before trying it in ranked. It's a little more complex then your typical aggro.

Ohh yeah I'll fix that. I replaced the Arcanite Reaper to an Upgrade! halfway through the run.

Yeah he actually started out in the deck when I was testing in Casual and he just barely didn't make the final cut.
