Mainly for cycling through your deck quickly for maybe OTK. First 'In the Library' practically does nothing for 2 mana. After playing the second one, you can draw up to 5 cards in a turn (but this benefit comes only after you have drawn both 'In the Library' & lost 4-mana worth of tempo). Your opponent can also mill you if your hand is almost full.
This card is played either to find your Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound in your deck and play it for a tempo swing on turn 10, or as a desperate measure to find some answers to your opponent's board. Drawback is that it will likely mill you a few cards.
Best Case Scenario: Play Chen when your hand is full. You get 9 Disciples. Next turn, you can play a Disciple for 4 mana (12-8) and another for 5 mana. So on until your last 2 Disciples will be unplayable because they cost 11 mana.
More Likely Scenario: You have 6 cards in hand. After you play Chen, you get 5 Disciples. Next turn, you can play a Disciple for 8 mana (12-4). Similarly, the last 2 Disciples will be unplayable.
Worst Case Scenario: You play Chen when you have 3 or less cards in hand. The Disciples are unplayable as they cost more than 10 mana.
Druids lack reliable single target removals (Naturalize and Mulch have huge drawbacks). So this can not only 'eliminate' a threat from your opponent, but also be used on a friendly minion such as Ragnaros the Firelord which will then demand a non-targetable removal from your opponent.
When you use this on a friendly Taunt minion, I believe that the enemy minions can bypass it just like how Stealth works on Taunt minions, because the target is untargetable.

Deathrattle synergizes with Scavenging Hyena and Cult Master.

Southsea Deckhand

Also has synergy with Cult Master; draw 3 cards.
OTK:
30 damage OTK: Emperor Thaurissan + Tundra Rhino + 2x Scavenging Hyena + 2x Cool Cat

You can Recycle an enemy minion plus shuffle a friendly minion that died back into your deck for a great tempo swing.

Entry: "No talking or eating in the library."
Emote: "Silence!"
Attack: "I love reading."
Death: "Peace... at last!"

That was his 27th attempt by the way. "Sorry, but I don't like that moustache!" That's how brutal the last girl rejected him.

Very specific to Injured Kvaldir, Injured Blademaster, Imp Master & Wild Pyromancer which are the only minions that damage themselves in the game currently.
