posted a message on Nerf this threads..

I wouldn't imagine they do or if they did, I don't see why they would continue to. Very much like the fifa forums and why devs stopped being active on there. So much of what is posted is unproductive, unhelpful, rude, disrespectful and unrealistic.

I've worked in regulated complaints for over a decade and for the most part, consumers are pretty clueless. They ask for things without any idea of how they would be implemented, have unrealistic expectations and you can do most things so well but the first sign of things going wrong and people are pretty intolerant.

Dcuo has the dev team as an active part of the forum and I don't know how they do it. Even threads about the game dying etc must get really tiresome. Imagine trying to do your job and throughout the day, you had people coming up and ranting at you about how your company is terrible, it's going to go bust, your job is at risk, the job you do is terrible, you're lazy, incompetent etc amongst other demands and insults.

It just isn't a productive environment, for the most part and it's the communities fault. Dcuo isn't as bad and did have some really constructive players who really helped the team with tests and feedback etc but here? Nah. There's a reason they invite content creators and pro players to events etc, they're far more likely to have productive feedback and conversations. I'm not saying they won't gather feedback from anywhere else but I can't imagine them getting much to work with on here.

If you check out some content creator's videos on things like nerfs and listen to how they put their points across and then compare it to a majority of what is said on here, you'll see the huge difference. It isn't always what you say but how you say it.

I'm sympathetic to those who are saying it would be nicer to play without spoilers.  Of course you can not watch the "pro" streamers, though it does feel a little unfair and of course stuff gets posted in places so you might want to avoid them.  I get that Blizzard wants to promote it though.

Also agree with fellow f2pers in that of course you can save up for the wings like previous adventures, but this is the first time that one has been alongside an expansion which will have depleted most of many of our gold reserves already and now need to start building up for the new expac.  Grateful for the free initial wing though, and will enjoy the others vicariously through streamer youtube videos :)

Perhaps if this adventure had been released along with the expansion the gold premium being paid for the 15 packs would have been a more agreeable use of precious gold.  Bit late by the time the last wing is released for many.  Simultaneous sounds better for this content.

Still new content is new content and hope those that are buying it enjoy.  Blizzard had to make money to keep the game going - I just miss the old expac, adventure, expac cycle :) :)

I respect that you've balanced your grievances with some logical considerations and I think what you've said is quite fair, for the most part  Only thing I'd say though is of they're releasing each wing as a staggered launch, what stops f2p saving up and getting it? There's 6 days until release and then a wing per week  If you have 0 gold and average 60 gold per day (low reward quest and 3 wins, I'm trying to low ball it here) then you will have 13 days until the first, paid wing launches. That should give you 780 gold, enough to buy the next wing and have 80 spare. If you continue on that average, you'd still be able to buy a wing every 2 weeks and have gold to spare. You'll continue to get free packs via the adventure as well as free cards and stash some cash away for the next expansion.

Obviously that all gets a tok easier if you average more than 60 gold per day which really isn't unrealistic

I hope you get to enjoy the content, even if it's behind the launch dates. If you don't and you save all good for packs, I wish you luck with your packs.

Blizzard is double dipping with their content this is nothing but a DLC add-on, they spaced them even tho it should have been with the initial release or very quickly after so now they can recharge customers. Blizzard is becoming more like EA everyday.

Double dipping? What do you even mean? They added a free expansion, took away cards the community has cried about for months, rotated the entire meta and gave away free cards and packs. None of the released expansion to date had to be paid for. They then look to have added a significant amount more than previous pve content. They are likely looking at bridging the gap between expansions so there is more content throughout the 4 months to keep things fresh.

Why shouldn't it be a dlc add on? Given that the game is free to play? They need to make money, hit targets and pay their bills.

Basically, you're a fucking clown. Think before you post and save us the pain of your pitiful contributions.

Out of interest, do you work? If so, what is it you do?

Good for you. Instead of being a dick, why don't you offer some advice? Sad little flex right there.

OP, I'm currently on a streak with big shaman, plenty of healing, good board clears and can get some big minions out to finish things off. I do think the couple rogues I played drew badly and made a few bad choices but it's stood up against druid, warrior, rogue and hunter so, so far, so good.

It's as if we need a support group for these tender people.

I know, right? Just go, that's what I've done when games have stopped being fun or run their course. I do something else because there are tons of other options in life.

It's attention seeking and pathetic. Half the time, they don't want to actually leave. They just want like minded people to join in and validate their saltiness.

I like your style, clear, chilled out and insightful without a lot of the nonsense that streamers/youtubers seem to rely on these days, such as being incredibly over the top, click baity and insisting on yelling repeatedly because the louder you are, the more subs you get, apparently.

Just gone 5-0 with big shaman after watching your video. Thanks for the content pal, keep it up!

posted a message on Warrior Has FAR Too Much Removal
    Quote from Zion7 >>

Don't be ridiculous Padge, of course you can main a class. Just like you can "main" a character in any fighting game, any moba game, any RTS game and the list goes on. I play all classes but my favorite has always been Priest, I "main" the class, that not a complex or foreign concept.

On topic Mexiito isn't wrong, Priest is sad this expansion and the chief cornerstone reason would be Warrior (specifically Dr Boom). It's a virtually unwinnable matchup. Priest has been bad for most of the time HS has existed (which is fine actually) but the appeal in playing Priest has always been that you grind your opponent down and potentially ware them out in resources if given enough time. The problem is, Priest is not fun to play right now because at current Warrior never runs out of resources, never runs out of removal and frankly makes all other ctrl decks seem pointless by comparison. That's a valid point.

No, what's ridiculous is choosing to play one class in a game where it's just as simple to play across all the classes. This isn't as intricate as many other games where classes are relevant and is always 1v1.

It's very different to games like rts where you will have very little rng and much more room for a specific game plan which can be helped along by a specific class or civ. Fighting games are very different to hs as well. It's purely a skill based game and a style or move set can be practiced over and over to become muscle memory which is really helpful in such a game. It isn't in hs.

Sure, each class has a flavour you may prefer but there is no need to handicap yourself and play only one class. Unless you only want to play with very expensive decks and/or have a very limited collection.

Which is all fine if it's your choice but refusal to use other classes is always going to leave you in a bad spot at times. So don't bitch about it.

I'm actually quite glad there's no chat option. If I faced a big priest and had the option to chat with him I'm pretty sure I'd lose my account within a day.

Wouldn't that be awesome? Face an opponent, annoy him to death without saying a word, receive all kind of insults and threats from his part, then report him at the end of the match (a report feature in-game would be obligatory after implementing a chat) and pray to god for Blizzard to ban his account.

    Beautiful!!! :D :D :D

posted a message on How would you design Tournament Mode?
    Quote from ShadowsOfSense >>
    Quote from Kaladin >>

I mean the mere concept of what a tournament is.  You wanted to make an example with "shuffle mode" but that's not a real thing anywhere and has zero context.  On the other hand, we know generally what is meant by "tournament."  This thread was to talk about specifics.

So which is it - you shouldn't have to describe what you want when you say tournament mode, or you should?

I have seen people ask for over the years:

    • A method of signing up for Blizzard sanctioned tournaments that get you points for the whole World Champion thing, in-game
    • Brawliseum, but all the time
    • Groups of 8-32 players face off over X amount of hours in a bracket, winner moves on (with varying ideas on game/match type)
    • Round-robin style everyone plays everyone in a group, whoever has the most wins is the winner
    • Just straight-up custom game mode stuff, I don't even know why they were calling it tournament mode, though theoretically you could use it to make actual tournaments with bans I guess?

Most of these never list the format for the tournaments, how deck selection would work, bans/no bans, etc

All of these are extremely different ideas. How is Blizzard supposed to know which one people actually want? Personally, as I said, I don't want any of them before a bunch of other stuff. Asking people to explain what they mean when they say 'Tournament Mode' is not a silly question.

(Shuffle was a thing me and my friends did with Yugioh back in the day - you both make a deck, then shuffle them together and split it, each playing with half of the newly shuffled deck. Lots of fun, it was just meant to be a silly example.)

I'd honestly give up mate, they just can't grasp what you're explaining, despite you putting it in very simple terms. You're going to go round in circles because they clearly haven't thought this through whereas it's obvious that you have and rather than just deciding that what you like is correct, have tried to play devil's advocate and come up with solutions.

Im already hating the meta... you just CANT defeat warrior, not with any kind of priest deck at least and i dont know with what... if they get 5 bombs on turn 6 and then play Dr. boom or the hero you are done

dude, you just said that one class is bad against the best class. just play another class.

I main priest.... it cannot be that the class is doomed this expansion, it makes me sad... and anyway you cant defeat warrior if they get the hero and the bombs.. is just insane value, insane removals, also discovering MOOOORE mech with removal effects.. is just non sense.

What is this 'main' I've seen people refer to? How do you 'main' a class in this game? Do you mean you play so casually that you have to dust all cards except for one class and pretty much only play that?

This isn't an rpg or a game where you level multiple different characters but focus on one due to time constraints and having to grind gear/currency for one character more than others.

I think it sounds like such a ridiculous, self imposed handicap that if you choose to go with, you only have yourself to blame because the game doesn't appear designed for it at all.

posted a message on How would you design Tournament Mode?
    Quote from iandakar >>

Years ago, I think during TGT, when I was one of those folks screaming for Tournament mode, I listened to a major Blizzard dev speak on a podcast about it.  They said that they knew it was highly desired and wanted to add it in.  However, they then realized the difficulty of the above question: What, the @()#) would an actual 'tournament mode' look like?  They never could find an answer.

Intrigued, I then started asking on forums and reading other people's opinions on the matter.  I've come to the same conclusion:

You guys have no (#$)#)( idea what you want.

A few of you, individually, MAY have an actual cohesive mentality that could actually be implemented.   Far Far **FAR** more of you do not. You have some vague image or, at best, a small trailer of content of some sort of 'Tournament system' that quickly glosses over the major design issues, sort of like listening to a 10 year old complain about why we aren't all riding in flying cars yet.  Some don't even have that and just want either "what I see on twitch stream, but IN THE GAAAAAMMMMMMEEEEEEEE!" or else REALLY want some other feature, like banning or a best of 3 system, or 'no netdecking' and using 'tournament mode' as a replacement term for it.

Many of the actual ideas tend to be rather dull (just like arena, but you make your own decks) or has a lot of problems for anyone outside a VERY small niche of people (most people don't have time to sit in a 3-5 hour series of games, especially if it involves a lot of waiting for other players.  Most people that CAN do so are already playing the many online tournaments already available through third parties).

Lastly, I got to see the absolute disaster of a Tournament mode that Class Royal did a few years ago and realized that a bad system is NOT better than no system at all.

So, I'll be honest, I think the big mistake of last year with Tournament mode wasn't in canceling it; it was in announcing it in the first place.  Even if they WERE working on it (I think they were) they should've held that close until they were close to a demo.

No, actually they shouldn't' have bothered.  As said, we HAVE a fully fledged tournament system in HTC (now Masters) and a lot of side tournaments that pop up elsewhere.  MUCH better marketing so that folks can find them would be greatly appreciated, but what's more needed are tools to help tournament runners RUN their tournaments rather than trying to make some automated thing in the client.  What's needed a WHOLE lot more is social elements.  I'd take a guild/clan system by far over a 'tournament' system anyday.  THAT can be much better pictured and is something not already handled by outside systems right now.  And a guild can make their own private tournament much easier than we can make organized groups right now.

In any case, the point is that this really is a case of 'the customer doesn't know what they want, but by God they want it!'

posted a message on Are there better/undiscovered decks or have we hit the ceiling this expansion?

I assume there are more types of decks yet to be discovered. This community seems to generally under value how difficult it is to deck build. I'm terrible at it and so tend to scout around for ideas and make some of my own which are far from competitive.

Most people who are 'homebrew' elitists will also be poor at building but likely in denial which is why they lay the blame on others for net decking etc. However, some people will have a knowledge of the game, meta and card collection that enables them to think outside the box. Some of these won't be shared because they want to keep it to themselves and others may just take time to hit the sweet spot.

A majority of players will, like me, rely on others for competitive decks. I don't care if people judge me for it, I accept that I struggle to concept a 30 cars deck together that is competitive because I just don't know enough. Ros launched with some fairly obvious archetypes and so that's obviously what people will go for first of all. You get builds like bomb warrior that we're made fairly early and once streamed, people will naturally gravitate towards it. Once the best deck builders start sharing or playing other decks at tournaments, people will also start to copy of tweak these.

Also, due to the change in cards, the collection is smaller than at other times and so less decks will be available anyway.so it could be the next expansion that sees it really kick on.

posted a message on Why do you play heartstone?

There's another thread with this exact same topic: https://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/hearthstone-general/general-discussion/231763-why-do-you-still-playhearthstone-in-2019?page=2#c21

So here's my post from that thread:

Well, I play for a reason that may seem strange to other people:  I actually enjoy the game and think it’s an excellent game as well. It has a lot of depth and variety which keeps things interesting and, despite of what a lot of people think, the game has a pretty high skill cap so there is always room to improve as a player. I like that. Of course there have been some tedious metas (like the mid range shaman meta a few years ago) but on the whole it’s been generally good

Another big plus for me is that I can play wherever I am on my phone or iPad. This is great because I travel a lot for work so I can queue up whenever I have some free time. I’m on vacation in Vietnam this week and no matter what time it is I can always get a game, even in Wild at 4am CET.

Ive never played WoW so I don’t care about the lore but the I like the characters and the art and the entire feel of the game. The sounds and overall production is tip top as well.  It works for me and it’s the only game I play.

Edit: I’ve been playing since 2015. That’s the longest time a game has ever held my interest aside from Street Fighter II  Champion Edition which I still love and it’s probably been over twenty years!

Edit 2: also the game is fun. I’ve had so many incredible games, crazy long control/value battles that have just been awesome regardless of whether or not I won. And some games where I somehow found a way to win when the situation looked absolutely hopeless. That to me is probably the main reason I keep coming back for more: HearthStone is an awesome game. Well made and a lot of fun to play.

Just going to quote this rather than type a very similar post. Your post pretty much echoes my thoughts and feelings.

    Quote from badhank14 >>

    Quote from SlydE >>
    Quote from badhank14 >>

While I may or may not agree to the HOF of Mountain Giant, it is very unfun to play against if the Mage hits the perfect turns.  Turn 4 Mountain Giant, then turn 5, turn them into 2 big minions with the Calling spell.

There is no counter play to this unless you are certain decks.  Like Rogue will just Sap one or both of them.  Brawl doesn't feel too good either because, they just Calling the minion that was remaining to create 2 more.

Shaman can't even Scheme because it hasn't had enough turns to build up.

The Giants deck reward greedy hands and greedy mulligans.  And since there is no way to punish this style of play, it feels like you are at the mercy of 'did they draw the Giant and Calling spell'?  If they did, they win.  That is not a skill testing deck to play or play against.

All decks should be able to kill an 8-8 on turn 4 or 5 with minions, spells, buff or weapons... If you don't kill it vs mage YOU were greedy and deserve to lose.

Sure, but can all decks do that?  I know the Giant is coming on turn 4 from Warlock or Mage based on how the first 2 turns are carried out.  Just because I know it's coming doesn't mean I get to draw an answer magically.  Go ahead and list all the classes and strongest decks right now and see if you can answer a turn 4 Giant every single time.  And when you get to have your Christmas land scenario, I also get to counter that as well.  Because if I am Warlock or Mage, I can play a Doomsayer the turn before and you ALSO have to answer that card.  So now you are asking decks to answer 2 cards for decks that get rewarded for doing nothing but drawing cards the first 3 turns of the game.

Shaman gets Hex.  Ok, what if you don't draw Hex.  Are your totems going to kill a Giant?  If you play small minions, Warlock can deal with your threats one for one or two for one you.  Mage can play 1 small minion and ping OR simply play Doomsayer.

Paladin USED to have an answer with Equality.  But Equality costing 4 means you need to stick a minion the turn before and not lose it.  Then 2 for 1 yourself as you play equality and trade the minion in.  You could try and weapon up the turn before, but most decks including Mage and Warlock decks are playing weapon removal.

So please, enlighten us to how ALL decks should be able to kill an 8/8 and if they can't they were playing greedy?

You know what deck has the best chance against Giants on turn 4?  Rogue.  Sap for 2 mana buys you enough time to build your board more and keep the pressure on.  Name another 2 mana spell that does the same thing in other classes?

Here is the issue that you don't seem to understand.  Even if I Hex a Giant on turn 4.  Yeah, I did it.  I dealt with it.  But NOT only did I not further MY board, the Mage or Warlock  can play ANOTHER big minion, including ANOTHER Giant.  And now I have to have ANOTHER answer.  I am playing defensively against a CONTROL deck.  If you are playing defensively against a Control deck, you already lost.  You beat control decks by making proactive and aggressive plays.

If all you ever do is spend the WHOLE turn killing a Giant, the opposing player still gets to play their game plan the next turn without needing to waste tempo dealing with your board.  But if you don't kill the Giant on turn 4 against Mage, now you have to deal with 2 Big Threats.

Then play aggro or ignore the giant. Like jeezus christ buddy this is a card game and you can easily tech against this shit or  make your deck aggresive enough where the giants don't mean anything. One of my favorite quotes you gave is "What if you don't draw hex." Lol, fucking stupid. "WhAT iF tHeY dON't DrAw MoUnTaIN gIaNt." LIke come on buddy this is a pointless ass thread.

Let's see...I attempt to lay out an explanation and ask for some counter points or analysis.  Instead we get your comments.  I suppose this is the level of intellect we get from the forums.  Read my comments again and point out where I said that THIS CARD SHOULD BE NERFED!  Nope, I am simply offering arguments for why it could need to get looked at for Hall of Fame.

It's cool.  Your attempt at attacking me or calling me 'fucking stupid' are childish, as are your points you are trying to make.

Part of the problem you're going to have though is the nerf (or hof) threads are just constant  I've lost count of all the things I've seen this expansion that people have complained about or wanted nerfing/moving to hof.

We've just had a huge shake up with 2 cards moved to hof early because people hated them and we've already got nerf after nerf request. Most times I come to browse this site 2-3 of the threads on the homepage are some sort of nerf thread.

It's getting old and tired, the game would be nerfed into oblivion if everyone was catered to and I imagine people are getting sick of having the same conversations just with whatever card or class the op is unhappy with.

I genuinely don't see how mountain giant is a problem. It gives away a lot of tempo to build and get it early and there are multiple decks and cards that handle it. Nothing safe from the nerf requests at the moment.
