     It would be utterly broken if you could attack heroes with it. And it's fairly easy to play this before you play armor boosting cards to get your damage up. Play this on 2, play Shield Block on 3 for a 5 attack weapon and kill a Tar Creeper with it.
     would it though? you need armor to pull it off, which would exclude aggro decks from using it. When control warrior stabilizes and starts gaining 15-30 health, he is most likely going to win anyways, unless its against control, which is what? combo priest and jade druid? against druid you'd probably have a hard time stabilizing ever, against priest your just waiting to pull your combo off before him. seems pretty much completely fair imo. and your idea of a way to use this card is absolute garbage. you invest 2 cards, 5 mana into a card that does 5 damage on the first swing, one turn later, and 2 damage on the next one? warrior already have a weapon thats 100 times better than that, its called arcane reaper, cost 5 mana and 1 card, and does 5x2 damage, every single time. This card is shit in the early game, and an inferior shield slam in the late game. will only be any kind of useful if people start running 14-10 cost minions in their deck. this is a huge disappointment of a card. unless warrior are getting a 1 drop that gains 5 armor, this is just not good enough.

    Likely it does trigger as a deathrattle on the minion. Look at the wording on Spikeridged Steed as an example. It says "when it dies" but the buff on the minion from that card appears as a deathrattle. So Val'anyr should work the same way.
    oh youre right. didnt notice that. seems to me they could have made both effects, and the weapon especially alot clearer with a better wording. like give a minion +2/6 and deathrattle summon (..)

    Yes you can destroy it with oozes or Harrison, but it will just keep coming back. So most likely, no other weapon can replace it after you play it.

     The irony here is incredible.
    You silence the minion that gets hit by the +4/+2, that stops the weapon coming back to your hand. Not saying silence is a great counter (because Paladin has so many things to silence) but yes silence would work against a weapon.
     do you know this or are you assuming? If you are right it would certainly make more sense if it said: give a minion 4/2 and deathrattle reequip Val´anyr. but it quite clearly doesnt say that. Since it doesnt say that, it seems like they are trying to tell us that the weapon is equipped regardless of wether or not the minion has been silenced. as if it was the dead weapon that has the inherent trigger, and not the minion it self.They could certainly have worded the card better if youre right, but i dont think you are.

    its card in this direction we need to see control warrior viable again. But given that one of the outcomes, as mentioned previously, is equal to shieldmaiden, i think it might be a bit too weak. Sure shield maiden was a stable in that deck, but cards have become more powerful since then, and this is inconsistent. 
    anyone else bothered by the fact that its a shield, not an actual weapon?

    the nerf to evolve shaman is offset by the other new evolve as many times as you like card, and this might fit into evolve shaman. you always have 1 cost 0/2s on the board, so you can presumably use this to buff it to a 6 drop before you start evolving. Id say its better than dopplegangster and the double taunt guy when played on its own/on curve, due to all the small board clears in the game. it has the advantage to big time racketeer of being a 5 drop though, so it can be comboed with the hero card.

    think it might actually see some play in evolve shaman, and elemental mage. 

    edit: just realized the card read friendly minion, which makes it useless against big priest. lol.

    If you have 10 armor this is 100% value. Starts getting really bad at around 4/4 which is 4-5 armor.

    There should be some great new armor gain ways for this card to be really good though. I'd love to see upgraded hero power again like Justicar Truehart.
    The dream: Legendary weapon: 2 mana 3/2, Battlecry: Replace your hero power with a better one (Can only attack minions). But that's maybe too much to ask :D

    if not actually upgrading the hero power, a deathrattle gain x armor would work really well with this card. could also just be a gain x armor each time you attack. i dont think they'll add a upgrade hero power option given the fact that it would be removed by the death knight card, and the zero cost one has been given to priest already. my bet is they will introduce a armor weapon given this card though.

    maybe if warrior gets some more cards to support the archetype. it actually has really good stats though. the 4/8 is going to absorb alot of damage against aggro,  and it wont be hard removed by priest due to the 4 attack. warrior would need some more armor options and weapons though, and i doubt it will be viable until raza rolls out of standard anyways. would really love to see control warrior viable again, its been my all time favorite deck.

    very good card. With this you not only get a 4/4 on board alongside your board clear/heavy spell, but you also enable elemental effects for your next turn, which is why i think it will see play in elemental decks.
