Certainly, the purpose of the game is to enjoy and have fun, but yes I too feel stressed to try and ladder climb sometimes. I actually think that if one plays less frequently it would add more to the stress...since the 1-3 games I play every other day are much more impactful to my climb than if I were able to spend 7 hours playing a ton of games.
And this is even without a significant expansion yet. It wont displace Magic, but its offering of a free competitive card game experience will keep people around so long as they keep it interesting.
I'll admit that I run Zoo. Not all the time, but every couple days I'll switch to it for a bit. I find it a lot of fun because you always have options...always have something to do. But I digress...
I noticed that when I'm Warlock I've been rage-quit on a number of times before the match even starts! I don't know if this is truly "rage-quitting" or more "give-up quitting" but I assume its because they're tired of play against Zoo. But from the Zoo-player perspective, this just helps you climb the ladder quicker...if every 3-4 games I get a free win, I'd be incentivized (sp?) to stick with Zoo. I don't think there's a way around this, if people really don't want to play against Zoo so much, but its an important consideration before quitting out of a game.
Another point worth making is that in MTG expansions they intentionally fill the expansions with useless cards and reprints (not maliciously, they just actually have to.)The 20 dollars you pay for Naxxramas for 30 actually usable, quality cards is significantly less than you pay for the equivalent number of cards in MTG.
This is a great point - every card added in Hearthstone has been different and added something to the game and deck-building strategy. I got out of MtG because it was too monumental a task to collect and manage all the cards - I felt uninterested in trying to successfully keep up with it. I haven't yet paid for the Naxx quarters - though I'm running low on gold so I'll have to ;-) But again, I don't have to if I wanted to take a week to build up some gold first. But I'll probably pay, because the 2+ hours of enjoyment I may get out of a $7 quarter is a fair price - certainly cheaper than a movie.
But the entirety of the content is free to access, so long as you build up enough gold. I don't think its fair to value each card with the monetary equivalent because you don't have to pay. To play MtG you would have to shell out significant money to play as competitively as you can on HS for free.
In any event, I'd like to see another class added, but I do understand the careful balance the game currently has, so any new class would have to be very carefully done. But releasing new cards in an adventure scenario is fun and a nice change. I'd just like them to vary up the release methods in the future as well....keep it fresh.
Agreed that minion focus will see a resurgence in Frostwolf Warlord. Throw this down after some Spectral Spiders and Echoing ooze for some beefiness. It'll be similar to how I use Blood Knight in my Pally deck for an early boost.
Regarding Spectral Knight - I'm eager to combo him with the likes of Defender of Argus - very strong combo
I know, I know, we're not even done with the first expansion. And I'm certainly enjoying the novelty and fresh cards! But I wanted to spitball other ways that Blizzard can execute an expansion, instead of via "quarters" released each week. Yes I'm already excited about future expansions :-)
Here's one idea: An expansion could it work as a map - where you uncover the next battle (on a trail) after completing one, with a fog of war shrouding further down the trail. The trails could fork based on class or difficulty.
Agreed on Mukkla - the early game strength is worth the bananas. I have been tempted to craft Thalnos as well recently because he seems to work well in almost all the decks you mentioned. I'm still frustrated that I keep getting Millhouse and Baron Gedon and other less valuable Legendaries in my packs!!

Of course whenever I get a legendary its on the bottom of this list! So frustrating to have that card flip over and it be useless...

Thank you for the work to put this together!
