posted a message on The Blizzard perspective : Monetising F2P players
    Quote from DeadlyKittenMtl >>

The trick is to isolate these new players from the griefers who are farming rank 20 with Freeze Mage (or whatever) decks. This separation is difficult to arrange in ranked (unless they add 10 levels below rank 20) but they could adjust the MMR ranking system in casual. You should only lose ranking in casual based on the damage you have received, so you could not trash your ranking quickly by conceding a bunch of games.

I think they have done that already. If i am not mistaken, i have read abou that. Besides, i play with the account of my girlfriend now and then, which she hardly uses. In the beginning i faced just beginners with bad decks, even in Tavern Brawl. This changed after a while.
This slide is a little too quick still though.  You end up going against people with much larger collections than you pretty early.
I think a possible better solution may be to have tiers of players based upon the total dust value of their collection.  I'm not saying this should be separated all the way up, but up to some arbitrary point where it's determined that with X dust you should be able to build a few competitive decks, and then let that be the wild west.  I mean, players playing meta decks at rank 19 to seal club are pretty bad for the new player experience.
So yeah, you bracket it based upon total collection card value.  Note that these numbers are just made up without a lot of thought, but Blizz would have the resources to do the actual research.
[0-3000] - hardly enough dust total to have face hunter.  Newbie league.
[3k-6k] - probably have enough total dust value to start crafting midrangy decks.  Rookie league
[6k-10k] - definitly have enough dust value to craft midrange, maybe even a bit heavier if you had lucky pulls. Journyman league
[10k-15k] - probably have enough dust value to have a deck with couple of legendaries. Vetran league
[15k-?] - I'd bet at this time you'd have enough to craft control warrior.  Wild west league.  Everybody against everybody.
Maybe would need to be another tier in there, but whatever, I don't have time to do actual research. The MM algorithm would then prefer players in your own league, but would expand if a game cannot be found quickly. Could this be gamed?  Sure, but you'd have to not grow your collection to game the system.  This is why you'd also have to cut off the tiering system at some arbitrary point so people couldn't just make the best decks possible in the final tier below the open.

Not sure why you said priests were one of the worst matchups.  I curb stomped these greedy priests that are all over the ladder right now.  I had the win 5 quest and played 7 games.  Won all 4 vs priest.  Lost to warrior, warriors crush this deck.

How is Innkeeper reading our collections? Our collections aren't written to the logfile, and that's the standard and approved way for 3rd party apps to work with Hearthstone. Is Innkeeper hooking into the Hearthstone process? If so, that can get an account banned by Blizzard. I'd like to see/read some transparency on how Innkeeper is working. I ran it, was like "Whoa! How did it read my entire collection in under a second? What is it doing under the hood?" and immediately uninstalled it.

But if it isn't changing anything it ought to be alright one would assume.
If Innkeeper is hooking into the HS process, then Blizzard can (and probably will) ban your account. That behaviour is strictly against the TOS. Blizzard isn't keeping tabs on benign vs. hostile apps. As far as Blizzard is concerned any app that breaks TOS will get an account banned.
Ah, but in that case those hearthstone deck trackers must be against the terms of user agreement as well, due to them showing you which cards you do have in your hand before the become visable on the screen.
Most of those work by scraping logs as they are written to.  That would occur outside of the hearthstone executable space.  IE, the game outputs to the log what your hand is before the animation is triggered.
I don't know how innkeeper gets it's data though...

posted a message on Its not that aggro decks are bad, they just dont satisfy

Aggro decks are hated because an aggro meta cuts off the possibility of playing many many satisfying and fun decks

Also because aggro players can be replaced easily by bots where it's not that easy making a control deck playing bot.
No difference. You seldom do creative things with ladder decks even if it's control.
This.  I mean, the bot comment has some merit (making a bot that could play face hunter would be significantly easier than a bot that could play control warrior), but it's not like control decks are doing crazy things.  Control warrior is going to play acolyte, going to have a weapon in the first 4 turns, going to stack armor to the moon and then kill all your stuff with shield slam or execute, going to play sylvanas, etc.  It's not super creative.

posted a message on Is there a ladder viable inspire deck ?

Inspire is a good mechanic for the game, but unfortunately, they under powered the cards that have it too much for it to be of use.  Not only are inspire cards slow, most of them are garbage.  Understatted hot garbage.  I think it's much better to use the few of the good ones where it makes sense and look at it as a bonus more than a win condition.

If you really want to build an inspire deck, pally does it decently.  A protected murloc knight ends games and if you can combo it with a mukla's champion, you'd wreck face, but I think that combo is way too slow.

posted a message on what happened to Alexstrasza and Ragnaros??

Alex is still used in CW and freeze mage.  Both are still played, but less than before.  Handlock switched to a demonlock style and Jara and Malganis have replaced it out of there.  Rag is still pretty rng heavy and has been replaced with more consistant legendaries.

posted a message on Mysterious Challenger is OP. Nerf!
    Quote from EatsCompost >>

Mysterious Challenger is a bit of a different situation to Warsong Commander because a new anti-Secret card release could slap it in the nads. Release a neutral low or midcost minion with the effect of Flare and bam, there goes the winrate.

+1.  There was no good answer to patron with creating a card, Challenger could be completely disabled with a neutral card like Harrison Jones that does the same thing with secrets.  IE, destroy opponents secrets and draw cards.  Or even just a neutral that was destroy all secrets (including yours).  This can be handled in the way that overused cards *should* be handled, with counter cards.

I wish you had some gameplay video.  I'm 1-6 with this deck.  Nothing seems to click with it, always feel like I'm playing from behind and can never do face damage.

FB combo has been around for a while, it just wasn't consistent enough to make a T1 deck.

posted a message on DE Golden Jaraxxus or regular?

There are a few legendaries that I would really want to keep the golden version of.  Jara is one of them.  Pretty much anything that summons adds or changes your hero or gives you a weapon, etc are cool as goldens because all those additional things are also golden.

But really, it's up to you and your collection.  If you really want to play some deck and it requires a certain legendary (and you don't have even close to enough dust to craft that card), then it might be worth it.  It is all just aesthetics.

posted a message on How to beat patron warrior?

Warrior has always been the counter to hunter.  Control decks typically do well against them.  Gotta have cards to deny their card draw and aoe clear out 3 health patrons.

posted a message on Is Power Creep Getting Out of Hand?

Really, the power creep in HS has been pretty minimal through 2 large expansions and 2 small expansions.  And the cards they creeped weren't seeing play anyway.  War golem got picked i guess in Arena if you needed big stuff, but magma rager was considered unplayable in all formats and booty bay was pretty much considered the same.  I guess they could have just buffed those cards, but they are commons/base, so who cares.
