New expansions mean revisiting old cards, to see if maybe now they can find a place in a deck to justify not dusting them. A challenge in particular? I'm talkin' Gloom Stag. Odd druid never really found ground, being overshadowed by monstrously successful combo decks, but that doesn't mean it can't find success this time. That being said, druid is only getting 4 new odd cards, almost completely unrelated, but there are a batch of new odd neutrals too.
Anyone else look forward to this experimental stage of a new expansion? Anyone have a good theorycraft they're whipping up? Or are there any other card/themes that are traditionally underwhelming that you're also looking forward to revisiting? I'm looking at you, Moorabi...
Might seem a stretch, but this is the kind of thing that can help bring back Doomhammer. It would take some finesse, but with Shaman's new cards to help heal and stabalize, plus multiple battlecry re-enablers, could make for a fun attempt to bring some doom. :)
He's not this fantastical bombastic card, but at the same time, he's just a really solid 2 drop. I'd include him in just about anything. At his base, he's a 2 mana red flag target that has to be addressed, especially late game. On his own, he provides a minimum of 4 healing if they don't run something to remove him outright, in which case you just scored a likely tempo gain on your minimal 2 mana investment. You don't necessarily have to build this hyper-healing deck to get use. A Truesilver Champion nets you 4hp. Vicious Scalehide nets you 2. Benevolent Djinn gets you 6. Do people run all/any of these, and is it a better option than odd pally? To be determined, but not everyone likes to just dump dudes on the board. To me, he's like The Glass Knight in that he is just a solid card. You won't likely craft him, but if you pull him in a pack, you won't have to be upset.
Play taunt druid and pull your Hadronox with Witching Hour, Carnivorous Cube it and next turn Naturalize it followed by this guy. I mean, nobody runs silence or transformation removal, so I'm sure your cube will stick. Also, don't play taunts, because Haddy will summon them and leave no room on board, which obviously is suboptimal...5-card 7-damage play never felt so good...
...or realize for all that effort risk and luck of the draw that you could have played Maly druid to better success...
I've been hoping Escape From Arcatraz this whole time too! Perfectly fits Hearthstone's kooky sense of adventure while also fitting the arcane predictions of Netherstorm. Bring back Millhouse Manastorm and unleash the crazies!
I really need to update this since the patch, losing creeper has made this a little tougher, because you also lose the great synergy with Warden. I hope to experiment in the next day or so, but feel free to share any comments or insight if you play around with it! Gut reaction might be some ramp, silence, or early minions/board presence. Maybe even more c'thun cards like doomcallers and such.
I ponder that too, and to be honest, he pulls good turns, but unless you use him on C'thun, you could easily replace him with another scalebane for less vulnerability to dragonfire, or just about any other fun large minion you just want. I've considered trying to slot in a Doomcaller, as an example, for more C'thun.
More removal for early game, or even a single Spellbreaker, just in case, might not hurt.
Ya know, it's hard to recommend crafting it unless you really like playing around with Druid, since there are so many higher power cards for the meta (or in general), like death knights, weapons, epics, princes and pirates, and i'd argue that even then, there are more reliable druid decks that don't need the quest. That being said, it's a fun card and quest, so if you legit have the dust and nothing else to craft, and you know you like big minions anyway, it makes for fun games, especially since it leaves opponents scratching their heads.

Nice, Putricide definitely has strengths, and maybe something like Subject 9 can help fuel the secret draw. Curious to see!

At first I thought friendly minions until a reread it as any minion. Makes value trades with tokens that much more valuable. Could be really powerful!

Just a lil' bit of arcane dust in my eye, that's all...I swear...

While you're correct for Rush being subtext, it does get drawn because it's not a Battlecry, but a Deathrattle card.

Adjusted this a little because of the recent patch, but I had a lot of fun with it! Those Grumble shenanigans!

Glad you enjoy! It's not suuuper competitive, obviously, but can still have some great matches with a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing!

Wife raised an eyebrow at the audible laugh I made reading this. Thanks!
