Some notable synergies that shouldn't be overlooked are Augmented Elekk and Witchwood Piper. Also, two of these on board should mean two cards get shuffled in. Might not make for a competitive deck without a lot of work, but I love the build-around potential of this card.
Odd card, conceptually and literally, but the shenanigan potential is real, obviously synergizing with Bwonsamdi, the Dead. Excited to see what comes of it!
I feel like Ticket Scalper could definitely see play. 5/3 on turn 4 would rarely trade efficiently, but this time, you could get card draw for that inefficient trade. Arcane Intellect is 3 mana for two cards, so this is like AI with a 5/3 Pirate for 1 extra mana, assuming it kills something with 4 or less health, and as a turn 4 play, that is very likely. Late game, not so much. Not meta defining, and you'd have to work with a deck that understands how to handle this potentially awkward tempo play, but all I'm saying is I wouldn't write it off.
Have to give love to any deck that tries something a little different, especially if you're rolling with Marin the Fox! Always a fun time trying to use him, and this deck is a great time, thanks for the guide!
Updated HS on my phone, got the prompts for the new cards and such, verifying the new patch went through, and I still have golden animations. It's a bug, they've addressed that they're working on it. Also, I have a Note 9, so I'm aware that newer phones work better than older phones, but dude, you need to get some chill or eat a Snickers or something.
This deck is simply too much fun! And that's (usually) the point, right? The shenanigans of my first game had me Flooping Lich-Kings, Face-Stealing, VanCleefing and all sorts of other nonsense that my EvenLock opponent didn't seem to know how to handle. 4-0 with it so far, and I don't know yet if it's luck, but I'm having a blast, so I don't care! Really dig the pressure, and like you said, if you balance deathrattles, they're forced into tough calls about AoE/clearing anything at all. Thanks for the awesome idea, and thanks for putting in the time for such a great guide!
Part of the fun of Hearthstone is diving into strategies to make older cards work in current metas (or so I like to think). Lately, I've been dabbling with Marin the Fox, and it's been a lot of fun! On his own, he's obviously not a meta breaker, but he provides some pretty good value, in particular with a Kingsbane Rogue where I worked in Envenom Weapon to instantly pop the chest. Mixed with Sonya Shadowdancer and Valeera the Hollow, I manage some great late game value and swing turns. It's not traditional, and you're not going to burn your way up the ladder (though I've had pretty great success, with practice), but it's fun, and fun is often overlooked.
Anyways, my question to you all is, do any of you find ways to work with this guy? Or, are there other cards you love to showcase that never seem to get any love?
Feel free to share, and as always, take care and have fun!
Gloom Stag can only ever become an addition to an already established odd deck, no odd deck will ever be made around this card, just not worth it. Good luck with theorycrafting tho, that is ofc part of the fun as well :)
Amusingly, I actually have a decent odd druid built in my collection (It has a decent winrate though it will probably do much better with the addition of biology project). One obvious card it doesn't run is Gloom Stag because it is a beast and messes up witching hour. Gloom Stag is just not worth it even if you establish an odd deck :P
So, a spin on taunt druid? Or different beast synergy? Either way, glad you could find some odd-Druid luck, even without Gloom Stag, lol. I once tried to run a Void Ripper style Druid to flip all of its high health/low attack minions into a sudden burst attack turn, but it just wasn't consistent or fast enough.
Lastly, Bladed Gauntlet could be a sweet card with Crystallizer and Eternium Rover coming the turn before it. I think control warrior might shock some folks this expansion
All three of these are so against type, I love it! I also pulled a golden Splintergraft, so I'm feeling the challenge of using him (vs. dusting him and pulling another...).
I'm looking forward to making use of Millhouse Manastorm. Between Shredder 2.0 and call to arms, we can probably get him on the board consistently without triggering that horrible battlecry
LOL, I dig bringing Millhouse in! The best will be that 5 second pause when you feel how they don't know what just happened when he pops out, for better or worse!
I'm honestly most interested in bringing aggro back, as there are too many possible OTK decks around right now. My focus was on warrior first, but I have since shifted to hunter as it seems to have more burst potential. Paladin might be OK too, but I'm not seeing it yet (outside of already established aggro decks).
EDIT: Oh wow! I just realised priest has a lot of goblin bomb support. Aggro priest is definitely on my list.
My fun deck right now is a Tess Greymane in Wild, using the tendency of Burgle effects to not deplete hand size to power out Mountain Giants while maintaining tempo. But it doesn't match up to the overall power level of the meta despite the threat it carries, mainly due to the randomness of the cards illicitly obtained, and is especially weak in Standard. So I'm very interested in the newer cards from the expansion as there appears to be some support for this style of play.
Mountain Giant is often overlooked and is a great fit for slower value decks, sounds like a fun deck! Maybe in the chaos of the new expansion you can carve a path and get a feel for how it performs and tweak it accordingly!

Thanks for this, it clarifies a lot of the speculation!

Nice! I'm digging that priest, and love seeing EVEN hunter vs. the popular odd version!
