Mugen8 posted a message on It's TOTALLY FINE to netdeck in competitive environments.Posted in: General Discussion(Before I start, I refer to 'scrubs' a couple times in the below - for definition and explanation, see http://www.sirlin.net/ptw-book/introducingthe-scrub - it's something I found probably close to 2 decades ago now, and is as valid today as it was back then)
In a recent thread a lot of posters were complaining about players, presumably in ranked, netdecking. Things like "I only rope if my opponent is playing a netdeck; in that case they deserve it" or "netdeckers deserve every bit of BM that comes their way".
Now, there are times when this might be an appropriate call to make. Mainly, if the environment you're playing in isn't competitive - which will generally be something like a match with someone on your friends list. This isn't the case for ranked, which is a competitive mode.
When it comes to playing a game competitively - Hearthstone in this case, but it applies to most competitive games - using every legal (game rules and otherwise) tool at your disposal is what the best players will do. Creating arbitrary rules to challenge yourself like "use only homebrew decks" or "win without epic of legendary cards" is fine, but you enter scrub-territory when you try to impose those rules on other competitive players. There is absolutely nothing wrong with using the research of players that came before you in order to gain as much advantage as possible against the competition. Doing so means you're making effective use of the tools available.
Sure, you may feel annoyed if you lose to someone that's using the flavour of the month netdeck and made some pretty obvious misplays, and you may feel like the deck carried them. Maybe it did - but so what? It was a legitimate win. Whether it was the matchup, the draws, the plays or whatnot, the stars aligned in such a way that they won - and that's fine. Using a netdeck is not some secret advantage that player alone has - if you don't want to use one that's totally fine too, but it's bad form (and again, symptomatic of a scrub mentality) if you decry their victory just because they chose to use a deck that, in all likelihood, has proven to be strong in the metagame.
If the issue is because you don't actually want to play in a competitive environment, and would rather play in a more relaxed environment with more casual archetypes (and believe me, I know - kitchen table Magic is far more preferable to me than competitive events), then that's not an issue with people netdecking - that's an issue with Blizzard not offering such an environment (casual would be more accurately titled 'unranked', and while you can find friends online that will play casual decks with you, it's a bit like Destiny in that they make you do the legwork for multiplayer fun).
As another example, the first RTS I wanted to actually get good at (as opposed to just playing against the AI and taking advantage of their issues) was Starcraft 2. And when I first started out - hell, pretty much the whole time I played - I took advantage of build orders that others had submitted online. That's effectively the Starcraft/RTS version of netdecking (a build order basically defines what you build in the early game, where the decision tree is generally so narrow that you can refine a reliable opening to springboard into later stages of the game). As a new player, was I just supposed to head into games and flail about, hoping for the best? I would have stayed in bronze for much longer if I had taken that approach!
To sum up - there's nothing wrong with a player wanting to use every legal tool at their disposal, and taking inspiration (either partial or entire deck-wise) from players that came before them. Not only is it fair game, but if they're trying to be as competitive as possible it makes sense to identify and use the best deck for the current metagame. If you don't want to netdeck and want to impose the challenge on yourself to use only homebrews, that's totally fine and good luck with it! But to try and impose that rule on others when it isn't actually a rule within the game is a scrub-like mindset.

XanKortal posted a message on Buff Basic and ClassicPosted in: General DiscussionOver half of these are either overpowered as all get out, go against the fundamentals of the basic set, or are actually secret nerfs...
Footman: so you want a neutral version of one of the strongest zoo cards to exist?
Raptor and crocolisk: both are already really good options right now - in WILD as build-a-beast options. They are already efficient stats, when stapled onto another minion, why would you add more to that?
Grizzly: breaks the intended design of basic cards -nothing has both a card text ability AND a keyword ability. Plus, this is also a stealth nerf because it would get instapunted out of build a beast, just like king of beasts, so you have less taunts available.
Razorfen hunter: card text and keyword, again.
Ogre magi: neutral version of cosmic anomaly? No thanks. There's such a thing as a critical mass of cards, and secret mage is already running hog wild in wild format, dont need to make it EVEN BETTER.
Stormwind knight: secretly a nerf because the whole point of the card is for OTKs.
Charge: the entire POINT of that nerf was to prevent degenerate charge combos.
Warsong commander: this would be cancer. Period. I don't think I should need to explain why, considering we went through 8 months of that card being in 80% of decks in the metagame.
In case you missed it though... even *without* grim patron, this card was utilized in a variety of degenerate combo strategies utilizing frothing berserker to generate spontaneous OTK lethals.
And a lot of the rest of these just sort of fall into the trap of being overtuned, and powercreeping on previously existing expansion cards, thereby invalidating many peoples previous purchases.

Silved posted a message on New Rogue Card Revealed - Whirlkick MasterPosted in: NewsDon't ask me why I did it. I have quite unbusy day and needed to switch on something. Also my math is not that reliable, so I might make a mistake somewhere.
So there are 13 combo cards in standard (unless we will get more)
3 of them are 2 mana,(~23%):
- Defias Ringleader —not great, not terrible. Few free minions are always welcomed
- Eviscerate — most likely best result
- Cold Blood — for free its ok. Sooner or later you will find use unless you losing already
7 of them 3 mana,(~54%):
- SI:7 Agent — good result, body and immediate board impact
- EVIL Miscreant — i'd say its always good result unless you losing
- Edwin VanCleef — also good, you can play it on the as 4/4 or more
- Cutthroat Buccaneer — mediocre, but ok
- Headcrack — well I don't know. You getting it for free this card may be not that bad after turn 10. However it means you will have to see new art once more, so its rather bad
- Perdition's Blade — 2 damage with combo and 2/2 weapon. As free card i'd say its ok
- Hooked Scimitar — I'd say its pretty good
One is 4 mana(~8%):
- Raiding Party — definitely the worst result, literally dead card unless you have some pirates. Or you didn't draw non of your Hench-Clan Burglar. There 8% chance to get this every time you triggering it. So it might be so this card will be the most viable in pirate deck.
One is 5 mana(~8%):
- Crazed Chemist — mediocre
and one is 6. (~8%):
- Kidnapper — well after turn 10 it might me useful
5 are good, 6 are mediocre and 2 are bad (unless you have pirates or can stand new Headcrack art. So 38% chance for good card. Of course they are good only imo and not if you losing. If you looking for board impact, you need Eviscerate, SI:7 Agent, Perdition's Blade or Kidnapper I guess. which is 30% chance.
So without shadowsteps or prep shenanigans and imagining you have use for all of them (including Raiding Party, the clunkiest one), if you play it on 10 turn with, lets say, Evis (tbh its very best case since Defias is never played and I doubt this will be in one deck with cold blood), you will have 6 mana left. So:
- 1% to play three 2-mana cards and get one more for later, Quite impossible
- 58% to play two 2-4-mana cards and get one more for later
- 41% to play one card and get one more for later
If you will trigger it with 3mana card (which is more likely generally), you will have only 5 mana. Chances are not so bright:
- 30% for 2 cards and one for later
- 64% for 1 card and one for later
- 8% for Kidnapper exactly which you wont be able to use
With stuff like prep or shadowstep we can pretty much add 1 card in each field, whatever.
Edit: I counted Crazed Chemist as 4-mana for some reasons. Numbers should be ok now, but chance of mistake is slightly increased
Edit2. Well. now it SHOULD be ok

I understand that a deck can be problematic design wise, although that's moreso to do with someone's own perception of what a problematic card is. Personally, I see little design issues with Alignment but I understand you may not.
As for the information, I literally pulled it straight from HS Replay so I dunno how it's inaccurate

I love the concept of this deck, and I adore the Majordomo Amara synergy, however I feel like this list is being pulled in too many directions:
1
I've been using Antonidas/Baron/Rag and as much Fire Damage as possible to try and kill it asap. After that, bring in some Mercs that can clean up the remaining Treants since you don't have to worry about the Ancient dealing massive damage per Treant killed or it healing itself. The passive you can get that deals AoE damage when you kill an enemy with a Fire ability is also nutty and triggers repeatedly from all the Treants.
Also, if you do get Monstrous Heart on someone like Rag, it can trivialise the fight alongside Uther. Just equip Sulfuras for the massive health boost and use Uther to give Rag Taunt and heal him. Diablo can do something similar with Soulstone and Heart and he'll get a ton of health with all the dead Treants.
Overall, you either want to deal massive burst damage to the Ancient (to spawn as few Treants as possible) or to fill up the board with smaller Ancients so it can't summon any bigger Treants and is stuck with the relatively smaller Treants. Hope this helps!

When BGH was around at 3, the game had much more of a focus around minion combat and big minions were more of a win condition instead of the current Quests & combos. In today's meta, Legendaries rarely serve as win conditions outside of Quests - something Grimtotem can't cancel out and are typically reserved for setups/tech cards. Also, many legendaries these days have lower stats/cost and aren't nearly as valuable to destroy as a Deathwing or Ragnaros (who were the typical prey of BGH). Hero cards are also being reintroduced so there are even less targets for Grimtotem. I wouldn't be surprised either way if this card saw play or not

Honestly, double Illidari Inquisitor is probably all you need. DH has the best/most card draw in the game (Spectral Sight, Need for Greed, Acrobatics, Skull of Gul'dan, etc.). You have so many opportunities to draw them out early and get value from Warden. There's also multiple forms of tutors available (Pokelt, Taelen) and deck manipulation with Sphere of Sapience.
My question is moreso is: is a vanilla 4 mana 3/8 with Taunt good? We've had several iterations in the past (Hecklebot & Conjured Mirage) and none have been amazing so I'm not too sold on this one

Aggro Druid and it's variants are literally the highest winrate decks for Druid on HS Replay at 75%~

I'm an idiot. I legitimately thought this only applied against Diablo's Apocalypse. Welp, this passive got much better in my eyes

Not sure why you're asking this on a fanmade site lol

Cheers fam, I just want people to have better days and I don't think shit talking is generally the best solution. If it's just venting then I completely get it, but there are better outlets than online forums imo

You didn't need to put the second part of your comment there at all, it's just unnecessarily negative. The mini-set will come out when it comes out, no need to rush/pressure a release date
