This is such an obvious manipulation attempt. Just smells to me like "Baby's first political move". I'm sorry, but I'm not buying it this time. Not gonna settle for anything but a full revert and/or 1:1 ratio of requirement-reward
And besides, them saying their goal is to increase engagement with quests? That's an absurd lie. If they want to increase engagement they would increase the reward by 200% as well.
This is obviously a very costumer-unfriendly move. Hearthstone is a F2P game mostly. What usually was supposed to make the most money for blizzard was cosmetics and the battle pass, and I think for the most part, we understood that and we were okay with every 3 months paying for it. In return, if we engaged with the game weekly and daily for some about of time, we got our mini-expansion + 50-60 free packs with a new expansion.
I thought that balance was fine, but maybe they were losing money on it. I know Legends of Runeterra was losing money lately and they cut most of their staff.
But even if this was the case, this move just kills the game. it will turn off most if not all casual players, and a game with no casual players is a dead game.
Most likely scenario is likely they will lower the quest requirements in a week or two and expect us to say "thank you". not gonna happen.
Another card that discounts cards to zero.. When will they learn?
This enables your brann + whatever combo next turn for your OTK, which means the downside of "Dying in 3 turns" is irrelevant. And like every zero cost discount, this will get nerfed too.
II swear this is the most consumer non-friendly ever created. AND I PLAY IT! I don't know why I expected them to be even slightly fair. 1000 rare coins for 50 rare coins. come on.
I just wanna share a funny game I've had with the deck + Discovered a new hunter deck to try?: I got The Rat King through Reconnaissance and then Revive Pet through Swashburglar I think you see where this is going.. with Tess/Stash, had a board full of Rat kings.
I wonder why I haven't seen the rat king/revive pet deck at all in Alterac Valley expansion And in sunken city you can even make revive better with Twinbow Terrorcoil and Emergency Maneuvers (Unfortunately I don't have the rat king to try this out, but it could work!)
This deck is so much fun! Especially when you manage to get (or even better, copy with Venessa) a good card For example, a colossal minion (in particular: warlock's, warrior's or druid's because of the taunt) AND ESPECIALLY if you shadowstep and play it again...
Then summon it with contraband or Tess.. over.. and over.. and over and over and over again You can just feel your opponent soul being crushed.
Edit: And btw, I'd rather lose a cutlass or parrrley for Faelin'. Shadowstep is too important imo. I haven't tried it with him, but it's true he can make the deck more consistent to insure you get a good card.

Wait, you wanna tell me you don't LOVE putting Nozdormu in your deck to make the deck worse just to do a quest??!

I dunno about this, a 5 mana 3/5 taunt is really bad and slow.
And the cost for recurring it is pretty steep.
Maybe if you can play Corrupted Ashbringer the on turn 6 it can be worth it.

That's a straight up better Swipe

Doubt it.
Even at 5 mana a lot of decks dropped him.
At 6 mana, only very specific decks relying on stealing cards would take him.

Was probably designed before locations were designed.
(They don't release expansions in the order the designers created them)

Not weird at all.
First, it's good on its own for infuse and just taunts.
But it becomes even better against agrro decks

With this deck you don't really crush or lose badly
it's very attrition oriented
But you do crush their souls!
Always play Okani and counter a spell before druid's turn 7, watch them play Scale of Onyxia... and concede.
