i think the meta is overall pretty fine right now, but i am still disappointed about some decisions blizzard made. i feel like all decks clearly have to be build with cube lock in mind and even if some decks have a higher winrate, the whole meta is based around cube lock. i feel that blizzard just doesn't aim for a well balanced meta, they want one or two dominating decks to basically shape the meta and give competitive players an easy straight forward way to achieve a positive winrate. and while this may make sense from a competitive perspective and makes the game appeal to a broad audience, it feels frustrating to creative players looking for change and diverse matchups. i mean, this was not only a new set, but also a new standard rotation, but cube lock didn't really lose important cards and the whole combo package of the deck came mostly with the kobolds set (they knew what they were doing, deliberately putting warlock on top of the food chain).
i just wish they made a specific counter card, like geist back when jade druid was popular. if not to really change things up, at least to give some hope. a new silence or anti taunt tech maybe...
but well, i like the odd and even stuff and hope they keep these mechanics in mind for the next set. maybe then the rotation will really hit.
wow, there are some nice combos in this deck. i love the idea of combining Rat Trap with King Mukla and Hoarding Dragon. i highly doubt this deck will work very well in this form, but it can be a good starting point and improve with some changes. i'm especially doubtful about Emeriss but the success depends on the state of the meta anyway. looks interesting for sure, i might try something similar.
i just realized that Toxic Arrow could give you a board clear with this. it would be like Twisting Nether + a 1 mana 6/4. not too bad considering that both cards have some value on their own. control hunter could really need a board clear, but without more card draw it probably doesn't make much sense. well, just wanted to put the idea out there...
i bet everyone here is excited, even those calling it the worst set ever (some people always do). the meta will change quite a bit, not only due to the new cards, but also because of the rotation happening. and change is always exciting.
personally, i haven't played a lot of hearthstone lately and yet the release of a new set really gets me fired up. although i didn't preorder and only have the dust for three legendaries, i bet i will have a lot of fun the next days. will probably craft baku, countess ashmore and maybe shudderwock.
if some sort of deathrattle control hunter would ever work in a meta, this card will probably be part of it. since there are also two new, cheap lifesteal beasts for the build-a-beast pool, it could actually solve one of the biggest problems of control hunter. not saying it will be strong in a competitive environment, but i feel like we are one step closer to the hunter archtype many have been dreaming of for a long time.
i would not be surprised to see a strong control hunter, if not now, maybe later in the year of the raven. i mean, combined with Play Dead this guy packs 16 heal, half of which you get immediatly. for hunter that is a lot.
wow, nice find. didn't even notice that. what i did notice though, is that there is only one 10-drop ( Emeriss ). and with old gods rotating we lose five neutral 10-drops from that expansion alone. also, there are only two neutral 1-drops... kinda weird distribution of mana cost in this expansion.
i really wish this would be playable, but i don't see it. at least not in standard, for now. if i get it from a pack, i will totally try it out and keep it anyway though.
but apart from that, i just realized this is the only 10 mana card of the whole set. i kinda expected more expensive minions, now that old gods rotates out, which had five neutral 10 drops.
it's not really a bad card, but compared to Twilight Drake it doesn't seem great either. Twilight Drake is a neutral, has a Dragon tag and costs one less. i feel like this could at least be a beast or have 5 attack as a class card.
but it might see play if this hand druid thing works out...

great tech card in the right meta. wouldn't be surprised if this sees some play.
and the artwork is amazing!

great card. pretty sure it will see some play. worse than the curator? maybe, but not much.
also, i really like cards like this, that kinda bring together different mechanics and make deck building really interesting.
notable synergies would probably be Val'anyr Obsidian Statue Chillblade Champion Darius Crowley Rotten Applebaum Hunting Mastiff and... a lot more.
Edit: i expected the last neutral legendary to be even costed though...

solid 4-drop. doesn't feel legendary worthy, wouldn't craft it, but it's really not bad.
i wouldn't mind pulling this from a pack and trying it out.

Play Dead Control Hunter?
well, probably much better for warlock...

Mage Quest (legendary of course)
(i just really hope there's at least one new quest and a new legendary weapon in the set)
