posted a message on The Pepper Thread - Share your good vibes!

As a counterpoint to the last post in the Salt Thread, I did it. Eeked my way into Diamond 5, first time I climbed this high in the new system (first time I saw the new system really) since I only came back a month ago. But it was a grind from hell, I must have been on the very brink of hitting Diamond 5 like 10 times but always got pushed back a few steps back. Just in time too because my deck gets nerfed later today.

Bonus happy points: Some priest was one the ropes, I had the board, my hand was monster, next turn he way dead. Takes my hand and deck with the legendary, my hand is low and discounted, plays all, turns it around, has a good chance of winning now. My turn I draw his own Zephrys, lethal him :D

Be me. Winstreak. One game away from Diamond 5. Up against a druid, option to keep two Prize Plunderers, decide to take it it will crap on those annoying Dryads if it is Token. Get some card draw, I now have minions I can play too, looks very good. My shitty laptop overheats and shuts down. Infinite Sadness, I am now three games away from Diamond 5. Tomorrow my deck gets nerfed. FML.

Aye.  If you craft a legendary then dust it, you'll not get it from packs until you have all legendaries from that set.  Banur's point is well made, in that you need to get away from the "Undo" screen for it to count.

But are we sure about this?

I might run a test where I craft and immediately DE all bad legendaries in Barrens set and see if I get them before the good ones after.

posted a message on Classic is Coming!

And I for one am very hyped! In fact how come there is not more hype for Classic? Let's change that shall we ;)

I am kind of tired of the randomness of the game now, infinite values, especially tired of the Discover mechanic which has kind of totally overtaken Hearthstone. I am looking forward to more down to earth games of Classic. I also like that the power level was lower, it seems to me also that the plays were a lot more tactical then. Maybe a lot of that is rose tinted glasses but hey nostalgia is a powerful drug so bring it on :D

Do you guys think the meta is solved? Will it just be wallet warrior, ramp druid, burn mage, miracle rogue, handlock and face hunter to annoy them all over again? I think it will start that way probably, people are nostalgic for those decks and with the possible exception of face hunter I am too. I especially wanna try miracle rogue, but all of those popular archetypes were too expensive for my card collection then so now I get a second chance to try them all out. BUT, has there been some brainiac out there thinking about this since Classic was announced, trying to come up with a meta breaking new deck? Well probably, lots of people out there :D Not sure they can succeed though, millions played then and if this groundbreaking deck was not found then it probably won't now. Still would be fun if even this settled meta was shaken up by some clever invention, maybe even now waiting in the wings.

Finally even though it hasn't even started yet, thoughts on the future. Should Naxxramas be eventually introduced? Should Classic instead get its own mini-sets? Some card balancing? I like all of those options since being eternally the same might get old, BUT I think if those are added pure Classic should be preserved. Kind of like they are doing now for WoW Classic come to think of it.

    Discuss away :D

posted a message on Does it make sense to craft Jaraxxus before the release of the Classic Mode?

As I understand, and I am not 100% sure so don't hold me to this. The Core Jaraxxus is Jaraxxus, the card is just changed from a minion who becomes a hero to a straight hero card. He is not a wholly new card like the new Y'sera or Alex. Those have new names to distinguish them from the old cards. All cards that exist in Standard and Wild that also existed in Classic times will be mirrored to their old form in Classic Format. This includes Jaraxxus. So as you will have two forms of Mana Wyrm you will have two forms of Jaraxxus, one in Classic and another everywhere else. And as it has been said Core cards can be used outside Standard I see no reason you can't use the free Jaraxxus you get from Core in Classic. I am very sure this will work.

Either way if it doesn't you lose nothing, you can just craft Jaraxxus then.

posted a message on add Arena to weekly quest list

Sure a fine idea. But you know what is even more fine? Adding Arena wins as an option to the Win 5 Ranked Games weekly. I don't think Arena is any less challenging than Ranked, more surely. Could add Heroic Duels too but might make the text too clunky.

posted a message on New Mode Idea: Preconstructed

Now I like Battlegrounds a lot and hopefully I will like Mercenary Mode but they don't really feel like HS do they?

So how about a Mode that is more HS than HS instead.

The decks I always enjoyed the most were janky meme/theme decks. And I'd argue this is what most people imagine when they first think about the potential of card games. Except they don't really work forcing some very suboptimal ways of playing. Or arguably ever worse optimizing the deck until only the faint glimmer of the original fun idea remains. The number of decks that are fun and unique while also being top tier is a very, very precious few throughout the entirety of the history of HS. Blizzard often adds interesting and flavourful mechanics and families of cards each expansion that see little or minimal play because they just aren't cookie cutter enough. But what if there was a mode that changed that?

So as some may have already guessed the idea is partially inspired by the upcoming Tavern Brawl, the kind we often get at launch of new expansions where we get to play around with Blizz built decks as well as those Blizzard made recipes you see when you go to make a new deck. It is a mode where we use Blizz made, prebuilt decks only. That way these fun decks can compete, cards that see tragically little use can shine, it is a good preview of the expansion and so on. The decks would be balanced so as to all be roughly equally good (bad :P). To prevent a situation where it is decided that say the Mage deck is 0.5% above average and the meta becomes heavily saturated by Mage and whatever is the best counter to Mage each class would have something like 2-5 prebuilt decks ( 3 is probably the magic number) and you don't know which one you will get when you queue up as that class. The decks of the same class can also be balanced to keep each other in check.

All in all I imagine this format would be a lot of fun at the very least and potentially quite popular since new and F2P players can just jump right into it, the size of your collection does not matter (though the idea can be modified that it expressly does but that would weaken it imo) just your piloting skills. And the decks are optimized to be fun and balanced not for soulless value or tempo which I know tires many players out after a while.

There are some issues ofc. The most obvious is does Blizzard want us to be able to use all these varied cards just like that? Like these decks are expressly designed to be flavourfull and varied so a lot if not all cards of the current expansion and to a lesser extent Year will appear in one deck or another. I think they would and here is why. You don't own those cards, you only get to use them in a specific preset deck if you happen to roll that deck. So very limited use, similar to how we get random cards in some Brawls and so on. Plus these decks and cards serve a promo use, this is what is possible in HS, the fun or the value if you want to optimize them. Seeing and using the cards as they are meant to should stoke the desire to own them and use them in your own ways. Furthermore with the increasing cosmetics monetization and suboptimal dust economy (increased number of legendary cards, not sure about epics) this would be a nice player friendly gesture.

So, what do you guys think?

posted a message on Reward Track is so Frustrating

I really dislike its all or nothing nature. If you get to 50, it's great. If you get to 49, weeeeell you're shit out of luck.

And unfortunately I am in that latter category it seems. I will get very close to 50 but not quite there before the end. It is frustrating as all hell. I only came back to the game about a month ago so that is my misfortune as well. But it would be a lot easier if I was lvl 30 now or something, like this I am tantalizingly close and I feel I am missing out a lot by not hitting 50. And objectively I am, but there is a Skinner box component to it too.

I am accepting help in the form of Play a Friend quests if anyone is feeling generous and will seek to repay the favour in the future.

EDIT: I USED TO UNDERSTAND THAT "BONUS" AT THE END OF THE REWARD TRACK GAVE YOU 50g FOR EVERY LEVEL BEFORE 50 SO 2500g BONUS. READING AGAIN I SEE IT JUST SAYS YOU GET 50g FOR FUTURE LEVELS. I HAVE STRICKEN OUT THAT PART FROM THE POST. IN THE UNLIKELY CASE SOMEONE WANTS TO HELP THAT WOULD STILL BE WELCOME.

posted a message on Am I the only one that misses control ?

I think if Mill tools like Tickatus are going to be in the game then HS needs to man up and add a Graveyard system along with cards that let Control and especially Combo retrieve their critical cards. It adds a push and pull, add Mill to fuck with them and they add cards that protect from that. But these cards don't help their win condition so the deck gets a bit worse, eventually a balance will be struck and Combo won't be out of control but neither will it be killed by one card.

Plus you can only resurrect what is in your Graveyard so that will be a big indirect nerf to that annoying priest archetype who will no longer be able to have 7 of a kind of minion that only died once.
