posted a message on Why is Rogue so Hated?

Exactly what is says on the tin.

Especially Stealth Rogue, it is not that strong. And I should know it was the only deck I felt comfortable crafting this close to the reset. It is considered a tier 2 deck yet it gets hate like no other in particular. Hunter and Token Druid is a toss up race at best, warrior is probably a bad matchup. That big taunt druid also I'd say is bad. Pure Pala is also a pain. In fact every match up is struggle and none make me go "nice, ezmode"... except maybe control warlock. Which given the Tickatus hate you'd think people would be grateful for. Without rogues keeping them in check you'd see a lot more control warlocks and they'd feel more comfortable running slower stuff like Tickatus too.

I am now high diamond and despite being a good player and playing like crazy to try and finish the stupid reward track I feel I am reaching the limit of this deck. I am climbing very slowly now, if at all. Not sure I can reach diamond 5 at all.

In summary I think rogue hate is really overblown and uncalled for. And indeed I invite people to try out rogue for themselves if they have the cards. They will realize it is far from unbeatable but they will have fun since it is a fun deck. The miracle style plays in particular feel very rewarding when you just barely scrape together a win.

but i don´t get it, why i could disenchant edwin only for a period of time for the full dust-value? i mean his nerf is permanent...?

The limitation is also very punishing on returning players. A lot of my cards were nerfed in absentia but I can't react to that at all. It should be two weeks to DE if you want after the first time you log in post-change.

Also pretty sure this also is true for cards that were Hall of Famed. A good number of my cards were HoFd while I was away and I am very sure I did not get the customary dust. It is small things like these that always somehow end up being to the players disfavour that have convinced me without a doubt that the HS team is primarily guided by greed not good gameplay.

    Quote from Pizzacats >>

Idk, I feel like that mode would get old pretty fast, considering it’s basically a slightly more complex tavern brawl. I think it would be fun to have an “autocomplete” mode, where we get to choose 1 card. Literally any card we want, and then let the autocomplete bot finish the deck and we have to use that. Could even have it use cards not in the collection, to get a similar “preview” feeling to cards we don’t have. Would create some hilariously memey matchups

Obviously I don't like this idea as much but it could work, though probably just TB material. You see I like to play AI finished decks with my friends and one thing you notice after a while is that it always finishes the deck the same away. So some exploitability there.

As for your complaint, when you roll ladder you get maybe 10 decks representing the vast majority of all you will see... so how is that different or better? :P Here we would have between 20-50 decks all balanced as well as can be. Furthermore the decks are optimized to be interesting and cool not for raw power which should help with replayability. Plus taking away the deckbuilding aspect makes it more like chess where you know exactly what they have and so the plays become a lot more strategic. There is appeal in that certainty too. Not to mention the equality this mode brings.

@PetiteMouche Show some imagination man, not 100% like Blizz recipes now but it is a rough outline to get people thinking in the proper direction. One thing I've noticed about Blizz recipes is they tend to be quite well themed. That is the kind of decks I'd put in this mode, theme decks (like say those Watch Towers from Barrens), fun decks (Deck of Madness for example) and meme decks (weird combos and synergies). So similar to Blizz ones but better and well balanced which is easier for decks not built for max power but to be interesting. You can always make decks like these better or worse by adding better or worse stand alone cards.

Anyway guessing you will never like this idea, and that's fine. Not everyone has to like it, arguably not even most people. As Blizz said just because a mode does not have the popularity of BGs or Ranked Standard doesn't make it a dead mode. There are still thousands of players who enjoy those other modes. And this one could be one of them, I know I'd love it. People tired of uber optimized decks and value would like it. People who want a more consistent game. New players and players with small collections. People who dislike deckbuilding and so on. Don't think an idea is bad just because you dislike it.

posted a message on add Arena to weekly quest list

Sure a fine idea. But you know what is even more fine? Adding Arena wins as an option to the Win 5 Ranked Games weekly. I don't think Arena is any less challenging than Ranked, more surely. Could add Heroic Duels too but might make the text too clunky.

I don't think there is enough proof for your idea OP but it would be good if true.

I think more synergistic and themed decks are more fun. Plus less general value cards, especially less general value Legendaries makes the game more easy to play. Deck costs have been going up over time, And Blizz printing more Legends is a big part of it.

It only took me 5 years to get A Hungry Crab but the pack opening rule change finally got me a pair. Prolly wont finish but will only end 3 legendary short.

That's nothing, I must have opened 100-200 Classic Packs, maybe even more, and never got Mana Wraith. Well I got it after duplicate protection was a thing but before that it was the only rares I lacked and I lacked them for soooo long. :P

posted a message on Last chance to complete your Classic collection

Hmm. I think I am like you. Several epics (mostly nerfed ones I DEd) and about as many legends, again mostly nerfed ones and trash ones.

I have almost all the cards that matter for the upcoming Classic mode which is what's important in the end. Think only ones I lack are Molten Giant which I DEd once they were nerfed and they will be easily replaced. That is why I DE any card that gets nerfed and which I won't immediately need as a matter of course, those 800 dust were doing useful work for me between the time of the nerf and now. It lets you liquidate the value of a card with no loss which is amazing in this game, even if you end up recrafting it like I will.

Also funnily enough back when everyone was crafting Golden Silv and Ragnaros as they were about to go bye bye into Hall of Fame I didn't have to, I pulled them in Golden randomly before that. And the extra funny bit? Never was under enough pressure to DE them. I also randomly have a Golden Geddon. I will look like a whale wallet warrior when you see me in Classic :D

posted a message on New Mode Idea: Preconstructed

Now I like Battlegrounds a lot and hopefully I will like Mercenary Mode but they don't really feel like HS do they?

So how about a Mode that is more HS than HS instead.

The decks I always enjoyed the most were janky meme/theme decks. And I'd argue this is what most people imagine when they first think about the potential of card games. Except they don't really work forcing some very suboptimal ways of playing. Or arguably ever worse optimizing the deck until only the faint glimmer of the original fun idea remains. The number of decks that are fun and unique while also being top tier is a very, very precious few throughout the entirety of the history of HS. Blizzard often adds interesting and flavourful mechanics and families of cards each expansion that see little or minimal play because they just aren't cookie cutter enough. But what if there was a mode that changed that?

So as some may have already guessed the idea is partially inspired by the upcoming Tavern Brawl, the kind we often get at launch of new expansions where we get to play around with Blizz built decks as well as those Blizzard made recipes you see when you go to make a new deck. It is a mode where we use Blizz made, prebuilt decks only. That way these fun decks can compete, cards that see tragically little use can shine, it is a good preview of the expansion and so on. The decks would be balanced so as to all be roughly equally good (bad :P). To prevent a situation where it is decided that say the Mage deck is 0.5% above average and the meta becomes heavily saturated by Mage and whatever is the best counter to Mage each class would have something like 2-5 prebuilt decks ( 3 is probably the magic number) and you don't know which one you will get when you queue up as that class. The decks of the same class can also be balanced to keep each other in check.

All in all I imagine this format would be a lot of fun at the very least and potentially quite popular since new and F2P players can just jump right into it, the size of your collection does not matter (though the idea can be modified that it expressly does but that would weaken it imo) just your piloting skills. And the decks are optimized to be fun and balanced not for soulless value or tempo which I know tires many players out after a while.

There are some issues ofc. The most obvious is does Blizzard want us to be able to use all these varied cards just like that? Like these decks are expressly designed to be flavourfull and varied so a lot if not all cards of the current expansion and to a lesser extent Year will appear in one deck or another. I think they would and here is why. You don't own those cards, you only get to use them in a specific preset deck if you happen to roll that deck. So very limited use, similar to how we get random cards in some Brawls and so on. Plus these decks and cards serve a promo use, this is what is possible in HS, the fun or the value if you want to optimize them. Seeing and using the cards as they are meant to should stoke the desire to own them and use them in your own ways. Furthermore with the increasing cosmetics monetization and suboptimal dust economy (increased number of legendary cards, not sure about epics) this would be a nice player friendly gesture.

So, what do you guys think?

posted a message on Reward Track is so Frustrating

THE CONFUSION WAS THE SO CALLED BONUS AT THE END OF THE TRACK. I GUESS I JUST GLANCED AT IT AND CONCLUDED IT GIVES 50g FOR PAST LEVELS AS A BONUS NOT FOR FUTURE LEVELS. I SEE MY MISTAKE NOW. I HAVE STRICKEN THAT PART OUT AND MY SUGGESTION TO GET 50gxLVL WHICH WAS NOT GREED BUT JUST TO BRING IT IN LINE WITH WHAT I THOUGHT OTHERS ALREADY GOT.

I kind of get the reactions now but the vitriol was still pretty crazy. Anyway help is still welcome if seemingly very unlikely ;)

So compassionate guys. I really am a shitty person for starting late on this reward's track thing that I did not even know existed previously. And I am sure you would be completely chill about being lvl 48 or 9 on March 30. If you don't care it is fine but why dump on me. I mean I can imagine some player who has very little time, or again somebody who returned to the game late.

    Quote from Banur >>
    Quote from Neko_Tamo >>

They really should make it so if you don't hit 50 before end of expansion you get LVLx50 gold if your level is <50. That way it would not feel like such all or nothing thing. While there still being an incentive to hit 50 for more gold and ofc the hero portraits.

Every level past 50 only rewards 50 gold. So level * 50 gold is the same amount as the next 50 levels. Since you would forfeit that by going from 49 to 50, the portrait would essentially cost 2.5k gold.

Perhaps this is why. I understood that once you hit 50 as a bonus you are given 50g for each level you earned so 2500g bonus. That is what is frustrating me about being so close to 50, not the hero skin. But maybe I misunderstood it, otherwise why would you say getting from 49 to 50 would cost 2500g, it should give 2500g as stands if I am right.

I really dislike its all or nothing nature. If you get to 50, it's great. If you get to 49, weeeeell you're shit out of luck.

And unfortunately I am in that latter category it seems. I will get very close to 50 but not quite there before the end. It is frustrating as all hell. I only came back to the game about a month ago so that is my misfortune as well. But it would be a lot easier if I was lvl 30 now or something, like this I am tantalizingly close and I feel I am missing out a lot by not hitting 50. And objectively I am, but there is a Skinner box component to it too.

I am accepting help in the form of Play a Friend quests if anyone is feeling generous and will seek to repay the favour in the future.

EDIT: I USED TO UNDERSTAND THAT "BONUS" AT THE END OF THE REWARD TRACK GAVE YOU 50g FOR EVERY LEVEL BEFORE 50 SO 2500g BONUS. READING AGAIN I SEE IT JUST SAYS YOU GET 50g FOR FUTURE LEVELS. I HAVE STRICKEN OUT THAT PART FROM THE POST. IN THE UNLIKELY CASE SOMEONE WANTS TO HELP THAT WOULD STILL BE WELCOME.

    Quote from M0res >>

I never understand people’s fascination with cosmetics... it’s purely psychological “superiority” and nothing more.

“Hey look at me - I have a diamond card and you don’t” kind of thing. It’s the same with the coins and so on. The game experience is exactly the same even if you use the basic light blue card back.

And of course blizzard like many other game companies know that people want to feel superior than others and make the most out of it!

In principle I agree but it remains to be seen if in practice relying more on income from cosmetic things will lead to greater availability ordinary cards to players so we can actually enjoy the game. If you ask me ideally they should fully or almost fully rely on cosmetic income but I am not holding my breath for more rewards let alone that.

Also my PC is shit and I hope diamond card animations can be disabled in case they prove a resource hog.

-I am still unfamiliar with the new quests. I only get 900XP and 1000XP daily quests, I flip the 900 ones ofc but seems wrong to flip the 1000 ones for sure. Weekly quests I am starting to think the 2800XP one for winning five Ranked games cannot be gotten twice. Even if I finish it fast and flip one of the 1750XP ones. Indeed I never got anything better than 1750XP by flipping them regardless of the time. Buuut I see the quest trading thread is still alive and well so clearly better quests exist they are just very rare. What is the quest mulligan strategy now?

-Any special, hidden rules about "Prime" minions? Like how Quests will always start in your hand despite it being written nowhere. Seems they get them pretty early and I never saw one be the bottom card. Probably a mixture of confrimation bias and hate of Solarian but still worth asking :P

Daily quests give 900 or 1000 xp, so you want to reroll 900xp quests. There are 3 quests that give 1500 xp (Play a friend, Spectate a friend winning a game, and win 5 games in any mode), but they are so rare that I don't reroll 1000 xp quests. I think I got a total of 5 or 6 of these since the new system started. It might be valuable to also reroll 1000 xp quests, just to have a chance to highroll, but it seems too unlikely to me.

The weekly quests are 1750 xp each, except for the win 5 ranked games. You get the win 5 ranked games every week and can't reroll it, rerolling the other quests will never give a new quest that grants more or less than 1750 xp, so you should only reroll 1750 xp quests if you don't like them (don't play the mode/cards that are required). Imo the easiest combination of quests to do are Finish in top 4 in Battlegrounds and Deal 200 damage to enemy heroes. It's possible to do both in one BG game.

There is no special rule for prime minions that works similar to quests. Your opponents probably just got a little lucky.

Thanks again m8. I was even unluckier then if that's any comfort. Been playing for about a month or more and 0 such quests.
