Right now the ladder seems to be full of the new variant of taunt druid. Just met four different druids in a row. Which deck do you guys use to counter it??

Not a specific deck, rather 2 cards: Skulking Geist and Ironbeak Owl/Spellbreaker.

Delete his selfkill cards, then silence hadro and undertaker to win.

Alternatively you can run Tinkmaster Overspark if you feel like a coinflip god.

When you queue into evenlock, but make them believe you whiffed on your second Kobold Librarian as a zoo opponent so he plays a 2 drop, only to then lock him with Mindbreaker.

    That completely made my day.

And of course the geisted and outmaneouvered taunt druid gets an obliterate for the undertaker.

But i cannot get godfrey or doomsayer with 2/7

    Aight.

rank 5 is literally unbeatable if youre not aggro or hunter.

Nah. I see heal paladins, Kingsbane rogues, warlocks, druids around rank 1-5.

     I think that's what he means ;)

I was just frustrated that I was making no progress with my Mage decks.  It's hard to be a pure control deck these days, with the existence of so many OTK/combo decks, Kingsbane, Aggro where you're dead by turn 4, Hunter, who has more board floods than control decks have AOE...

I mean, the best i could do is a howlfiend deck. It barely scrapes over 50% winrate if i play well. But the more hunter i get the worse it gets.

all braindead aggro except four of them(odd warrior, taunt druid, mech'thun druid, maybe odd mage(?)) Oh boy i sure do love hearthstone

Yeah, I love playing 60 hour games instead of 5 minute games.

Cards games should require the player to think, smart games don't take 5 minutes, smart games takes time because the player thinks, 5 minutes means the player plays an idiot's deck

in control you can make a lot of mistakes and it won't matter much cause the game is long and some mistakes aren't that critical, but in an aggro mirror if you make the tiniest mistake you either lose or missed a big opportunity, playing aggro is more intense than control since you have less turns to make an impact every trade or face decision is way more critical. in long games that doesn't matter as much, since your game plan is most of the time "bombastic" so your end goal is quite obvious "play this big card once my opponent is out of removal"

This aggro demonizing and control elitism needs to stop some day. it's very childish and stupid, there's a reason the same players playing the same decks are at different ranks.

before you "accuse" me of playing aggro I will just note that I play all 9 classes and all playstyles (of course I am better at some than others) this is a card game not "hate your opponent's playstyle"

While i would agree in some cases, if you play control versus aggro it is the same for both sides of the fence, any mistake on the control players part usually ends the game. In a Control mirror, it does not matter if your strategy beats the opponents strategy, but any real mistake will cost you in the long term as well. So i doubt it is that clear cut, both archetypes have matchups and hands in which decisions matter and those in which they don't.

Soo what decks counter Taunt Druid besides the obvious OTK decks which i hate?

Is it that Taunt Druid promotes OTK decks because there is no other type of counter? i mean i guess Warlock can Gnomeferatu or Demonic Project but is not fair for other classes.

Well, you mostly got it. Against classic taunt, big spell mage has a shot since you can screw with the Witching Hours.

Against the tiger undertaker loop, you could make sure to not kill the tiger and transform it, so he has 2 waves and thats it. But that requires you to run Skulking Geist in order to remove his selfkill cards, and some form of transform removal be it mage, shaman, or Tinkmaster Overspark, which can be a bit of a horrible (or amazing if you are a god at coinflipping) card.

Geist is the key against the new version tbh, since if he cannot kill the undertaker himself, he can be stranded after the first wave with a simple Spellbreaker.

    Edited for grammar.

posted a message on Do you think all these hunter archetypes are here to stay until april rotation?

I mean dr hunter is a nightmare for control, but any of the others are more than manageable. There are techs you can use, and the Dk rexxar hp actually loses you tempo since you need to spend 2 mana each turn.

Aka if you are able to get ahead in tempo it is not as bad (give or take the occasional bullshit beasts).

I mean if you wanted to see that you might as well have looked at the frontpage.

Super defensive warlock with Mindbreaker does the trick more often than not.

However you can get screwed by random Mossy Horrors

Been a while since I complained, but god DAMN.

In the Brawliseum, I played as a big mage against a Mech Warrior. He had played both his Brawls, and I went for the fatigue game, which I would win.

I played Dragoncaller Alanna, which got me 6 5/5 dragons and her own 3/3 body. Even though both his Brawls are gone, he gets the 7 armor hero power and is able to clear my last threat with Armor flurry. Hindsight, I should have waited 1 turn. But, I'd still win in fatigue.

Except he gets Elise the Trailblazer, which got him another Elise, which got him another Elise WHICH GOT HIM ANOTHER ELISE

I mean, if the algorythm decides that you should lose, you lose.

Does not happen often, and maybe i brought too much tinfoil, but at least in my experience there are these rediculous games in which everything goes wrong from time to time.

When you play Mindbreaker to counter Dk rexxar (or as i nowadays call him in german, Drecksack), and you do all your homework, Skulking Geist to delete Hunter's Marks, force his hand dry with tempo in order for him to not have a random zombeast that could screw you and then, after all this, drop the boy to lock him down.

He topdecks his 1/12 Mossy Horror. I even checked with Voidwalkers and Stonehill Defender, he did not have it.

But a random tech card, that the deck does not need and screws you over more often than not because it eats a deckslot a dino could occupy.

In a match that is frustrating beyond belief in order to get to this point (denied cubes 5 turns until he Kathrenaed, then set an Ironbeak Owl + Lord Godfrey off in order to clear his stuff), and he still has rexxar, and even through that i manage the lockdown with 2 useless cards left in hand, he topdecks the only out due to a questionable deckbuilding choice.

That was enough to make me rq for the day.

posted a message on It takes zero skill to play Hunter, change my mind

I mean i won't be able to change your mind, since you don't even specify the level of play we are talking about here.

Anyone can pilot a well crafted deck against a badly structured brew with a mediocre pilot and win, but if you want to play on curve against people who know how to build and tech, you will more than likely get answered and boardwiped into oblivion.

Also, if you say it takes no skill to build-a-beast correctly, you should have enough insight to laugh at yourself on the inside in case you would dare to think.

Since knowledge about the matchup, removal pieces left, possible tempo swings, the pool of discovers, possible combinations as well as your current role being agressor or defender make this one of the hardest cards to play correctly.

If you toned your salt down a little and actually pointed out your issues with the class (strong cardpool, little weaknesses that are hard to exploit on top of some borderline broken combos), i as well several sensible people would agree.

    Errr, no?

Malygos is more on the inconsistent side of things, and never goes infinite either.

Ye the rogue deck is highrolling, but espionage is way worse for that.

So as much as i hate things that get out of control. they need to be there, otherwise we will be playing late 2016 format with greetings and armor up all the time.

posted a message on I gotta say, Rastakan is looking nowhere near as powerful as K&C.
    Quote from Katie >>

I actually changed my attitude on the preorder, most because Team 5 realized "oh wow, we have so many unsupported archetypes that we circle jerked everyone around with for the last year. I guess we should make most of them into playable decks before they rotate out of standard, huh?"

As much as I am upset about their release schedule and their short attention span with ensuring decks have the proper support to maximize the number of playable cards, I at least appreciate that they fixed a lot of the long-standing problems with Hearthstone, from my perspective. I can only hope they learned their lesson from now on.......

Having said that, the initial spoilers for this set were terrible or underwhelming. While Shirvallah, the Tiger seems like a powerful card, it's not really that interesting or exciting (it's not like we haven't seen rush, lifesteal and divine shield on the same card before, and we've been playing Zilliax for awhile now), and it's quite possible the 25 mana is too harsh of a requirement anyway (you gotta play Lay on Hands or you can forget it).

The card that really burned me though was Jan'alai, the Dragonhawk. I don't care to see Ragnaros in standard anymore - especially an identical reprint. Team 5 keeps finding ways to bring this card back into standard after 4 reprints, and I'm just bored of doing 8 random points of 'fill-in-the-blank' every standard. I want something new and I want hearthstone to move on. We're only 5 years in and they keep hitting a nostalgia button that just isn't there.

Once High Priest Thekal was spoiled though, shit got interesting from then on. To me, that card and Flash of Light, Time Out!, and Zandalari Templar are going into my first deck on Tuesday. And I expect it to be pretty good times. Zandalari Templar is vastly underrated. Getting the body of a Lich King for 4 mana is a ridiculous payoff, especially getting out of combo range at the same time. The deck is going to be good. If it turns out not to be good, trust me, I will be the first one bitching to Blizzard about all of the useless life gain pally cards they printed and wasted slots on if it's not possible to make a deck with it all at the end of standard.

Maybe i am getting too old, but "back in my day" we called those Ironbark Protectors ;)
