I did it on 3 accts, trying all the costumes 2-3 times. It's ridiculously hard on the pirate because your minions are low health and attack and can't clear the final boss minion. The cat one is ok if you get infest, which may give you some higher attack minions or even a poisonous one to deal with the boss. The easiest by far imo is the witch one. Spread wide with double feral spirits and hope you get ramp and white eyes, iron bark, or bog creeper to finish off the boss. And hope he does clear your early minions with destroy all minions with 4 attack or less. And hope he doesn't have shadow word death for you biggies. So, basically a lot of rng.
You sir are intriguing me. HellVetica, legendary demon quartermaster of the abyss, checking various things...blankets..and..um pillows...uh for the troops and stuff.
Anyone else miss adventures? I liked getting cards from each wing and then going through a challenging heroic mode for a sweet cardback. I hope they bring them back, but not holding my breath.
I don't think it was mentioned in the patch notes, but the monster hunt quests for witchwood packs will no longer appear on new accounts. I wondered why I didn't get any when I made a new account, so I checked reddit to confirm.
I'm still interested in leveling an alt acct, but definitely need more cards to compete. But to play arena you need to reach level 10 in each class and I think they nerfed the amount of xp you get from friendly challenges. I got the boomsday project cardback the first day, but the xp of playing the various puzzles classes didn't transfer to my classes like I thought it might. I also played my lock all day and only got to lv 12, seems really slow.
Reddit users are saying that it's blizzard's way of protecting new players from near constructed level decks. If they allowed it, it would be nothing but whizbang mirrors, which imo is more fun than what it currently is.
I love the changes in the ranking system for new players. It allows them to get the cards they need while practicing to get ready for rank 20, where there are lots of people with experience.
Another thing to be grateful for, or at least to be positive about: They didn't forget the people who are NOT new to the game, allowing everyone to buy a classic bundle. That's what we call making some effort in the customer relations and all.
The rank 50 ladder is actually way more aggressive than rank 20-25. As soon as the patch hit I started playing a pretty decent demon lock (opened guldan) and had a 90% winrate for the first few hours. Then all I faced was back to back tempo mages and midrange hunters (minus rexxar, but some mages already crafted luna). This morning I thought there might be a little more variation and played 6 more games (4 midrange hunters and 2 tempo mages). Once you get past rank 46/47, there's literally nothing else but these 2 decks. That's the entire meta, two decks. Since no one has enough dust to create control decks, all you see is near meta quality aggro decks with no counters yet. My advice is for new players to dust every card and make a zoolock, it should have a favorable winrate against these two decks (HSreplay link below), but it's hard to tell for sure with key cards missing from everyone's decks. If you don't counter these two decks, you wont get past rank 47 without a tremendous amount of losses. After about 50-60 games (currently rank 44), I'd say most of the players I face are bored experienced players farming new players (and me unfortunately). Don't make the mistake I did. Make one of these two aggro decks which have about the same winrate against each other,... or start crafting a zoolock, which is favored once all three decks have all their key cards.
https://hsreplay.net/archetypes/134/zoo-warlock Substitute Reckless Rocketeer for Leeroy, and two Vulgar Humunculous for Keleseth (until you can craft it). A new friend that was farming me (and others) had this made within 2 hours of the patch, but he did open Keleseth, so that's pretty big. No one has giggling's yet so you don't need to tech mossy horror. Good luck.
I wonder how much Ben's absence will impact ticket sales from HS players that traditionally go to Blizzcon or buy the virtual ticket. My guess is that it'll be a noticeable decline.
You're probably right. Just the timing was odd, it was 3 hours after the patch. Maybe he got lucky from the 6 boomsday packs and the 300 gold or so for opening quests.

Isn't this further confirmation of Secret of the (seven) Seas theory?

New rank 50 player facing dude with almost a meta constructed zoo deck (soul infusion and life drinker were played too I believe).
Is this a matchmaking goof or did this guy drop some ducks?
Notice his ranking isn't showing, so thinking blizzard done dropped the bar of soap in the prison shower.

Matchmaking at rank 49 and 50 is really bad.
