Hey, I did the same thing as you: I was struggling to find the best control deck to climb then Clark’s deck made me realize how undying allies and balaseth can be powerful in quest priest.

since I included them I’ve never lost to DK or aggro priest, and that’s a large majority of the games I played! Demon hunter seems impossible to beat, though.

your build is cool but I think Svalna and harvester are too slow. In which matchups do you feel you need them ?
 The weakness of my deck is having only one 7 drop and one 8 drop, just like you, but also no way to get another because I have no steal/copy/discover cards. It’s not such a big deal because the quest is only for blood dk - you need to play around the disrupt cards and you win.

Just remove brann

If you play control, you have to run Theotar / Mutanus AND to steal / destroy Denathrius or you can’t win. This is not normal.

at first I thought I liked this expansion a lot but now I only face druids and it’s so boring. I didn’t even realize that shaman could also be a problem.

Denathrius is far too strong. For now, this is my only concern with the expansion.

Thanks for the deck, I feel unstoppable with big deathrattle priest. Paladins, warriors and thief rogues are easy wins except when they make a very very strong start, and that’s enough to climb because they’re everywhere.

The only problem is that this archetype is not very funny.… having fun and climbing at the same time  seems impossible for me these days.

i play a control deck with archwitch since the beginning of the month and I’ve been through the same choices as you.

Y’Shaarj is too slow, Ruswick is too slow, I even removed Tickatus and Jaraxxus…but I use deck of chaos, n’zoth and a few cards that combo with both.

it kinda works. I reached diamond 3.

the quest decks (warlock, mage, shaman) are a big challenge even after last nerf.

I play a wallet version of this deck (same 1 drops, bigger minions, scouts, boomship, woecleaver) mostly  levels 10 to legend last month and Played a lot of priest.

Versus Big resurrect, I generally lose when he plays Gallery early (turns 9 / 10) but otherwise it’s generally a win. I’d say 50/50.

Against Control Priest, you can control the board and keep high health level. Then he drops Alex...  the main trick is simply to keep Zilliax (+ Rover) for after Alex. In this scenario I generally win. Globally I’d say Rush warrior is favored.

Against OTK, you play on tempo mode, trying to avoid a very bad Mass Hysteria, and pray that you win the race. It works regularly (50/50 ? I’m not sure but definitely far from auto loss).

Rush warrior is definitely favored against Hunter, or I wouldn’t have reached Legend, globally you need to keep the cheap rush minions to kill hyenas and then only Zul’Jin is a major problem. Sometimes he doesn’t show up and some other times your opponent has to play it  early to survive and you win anyway.

The only deck that I can’t beat is control warrior, without the quest. With the quest it’s generally a win.

Not sure if my experience fully applies to this particular version of rush warrior, though. But in this one, Mojomaster should definitely help against most Priests.

As you mentioned, The Harvester and Svalna can make the deck too slow, so they can be replaced with other cards that can counter the most common classes you'll face at the time. 

• The Harvester - I really enjoy stealing my opponent's original cards and seeing their surprise 😂. My favorite cards to target include Astalor (2/5), Brann (3), Guff (5), Shadowstep (0), Reconnaissance (2), Identity Theft (3), Bound Soul (0-1), Lady S'theno (3), Stewart (3), Legendary Invitation (2).
• Svalna - I often use her in matchups where I need more control than my opponent, or when I need cards like Drown to remove deathrattle minions that benefit them in the long term, such as Aegwynn. I also use cards like Cannibalize/Void Shard to heal in some matchups, like Quest Warrior, and Identity Thief/Animated Dead to combo with The Harvester.

Demon Hunter is not my favorite matchup either, and whenever I add 2x Streamcleaner, the RNG gods never seem to pair me with them. If they do, it's with a Demon Hunter that doesn't use Souleater's Scythe card in their deck.

I frequently use the Quest card just to discover my deck 2 times and put pressure on my opponent to rush to end me quickly or make them hold onto their steal cards in their hand, waiting for me to complete it and steal it with The Harvester if I can (e.g. Theotar/Identity Thief) 

No, you´re not crazy... the game downfall was when ben brode left it, from there is a endless decline and I'm not even one of those people who repeats and defends this thesis vehemently, but nowadays I can see that, it was a long term impact.

I don't like to talk about it too much either because most of the time I'm going to come across as arrogant and boastful but this game was much more about strategy and skills than copy paste the most lame deck out there and spam it on ladder 24/7 while you watch netflix or make a poop. (you gonna encounter a lot of dks that does it or even bots from what i heard)

The game is not worth it playing anymore, thats sadly the truth... i still do because i´ve been playing card games since i was 7 yo and the other options we have are just straight up garbage imo, even marvel snap (which btw is the new ben brode´s project) i dont get the joy of it. Basically im constantly thinking hearthstone can get better but it only get worse , thats the scenario for me.

When will we get a team capable of doing some good changes for this game?Asking for a friend.

As a video game dev myself (not at blizzard), i just wanted to add that devs very rarely actively play their own game because they do not have time to do that. Designers of course do a lot of personal testing of what they make, and how it fits in the general game, but you have to realize that this is a job; you have (~)8h work days in which you have tasks and objectives to fulfill within time constraints, you don't spend that time just playing the game to stay up to date with the meta, it's just not doable or realistic, unless doing it on your own free time, which, let me tell you, when you work on a game, you most likely want to clear your head off of it when you're back home (which is also healthy for designers to do, playing lots of different games).

So yeah, of course they try to get the best possible feel of the meta they can at all times, and of course everyone, including them, want to have the most objective view on the meta as possible, but you'd be surprised how much live-ops devs (have to) rely on content creators to stay up to date rather than personal direct experience.

Annoy-o-Tron is a filler card, can be removed easily. The rest of the list seems solid.

i build a deck similar to it. but to sustain some damage for face hunters and rogue i changed it to dragon plot twist warlock. it also provides much more control tools with dragons. can send the recipe if someone is interested. gl all.

I discovered that Elekk is actually good for controlly games or mirror matches. The reason why licensed adventurer is in the deck though, that still puzzles me. I was thinking of just replacing it with mechanical welp.

After some games today I partially agree with you. I changed the way I was playing against control priest, going for a more control oriented game over tempo, and it works way better. Cloning gallery/res still same nightmare, I need a almost perfect start. And they have so much come back( kelen/maly + spirit link, zilliax, rev huge taunts). I don’t see how that match is even 50/50. Still want to see after the nerf odd rogue, it was the easiest games, the only that I lost was for some ridiculous cold blood bursts of damage.

Yea... sometimes they are lucky and we are unlucky... that can happen. But the winning favor is definitely leaning towards to Rush Warrior, at least with the way how I play.

What I do is just keep pressure up and play around Mass Hysteria/Board clears, don't drop your whole hand, but also keep the pressure up high enough that he will lose if he doesn't do anything.

When I have Sul'thraze I keep using it all on the face damage (in this scenario, Super Collider isn't good weapon), and with a single Kor'kron Elite on board, the Priest has to tank a Ragnaros fireball every single turn. It usually ends up he starting to do desperate/panic moves, but I keep replenish the board with new minions, If I manage to draw Grommash it's usually guaranteed over, because I've most likely an activator in hand and a few minions on board. Even without it, all the Frothing 2x Berserkers, 2x Festering Hulks, 2x Kor'krons, Darius + Sudden Genesis usually overwhelms the Priest at one point.

But yea, if he gets Zilliax and he keeps resurrecting Zilliax... and you have kinda weak hand, it can be tough. But that's kinda the worst case scenario and nature of Hearthstone. It doesn't happen enough.

Same with Spell Hunter, 12/12 on turn 5 it just isn't that common enough, more like Turn 7-ish, and Warrior most likely wins every time it doesn't happen. And even if the Hunter pulls off big Spellstone on turn 5. You have bunch Rush minions and Spirit Rush totems to reclaim the board and play defensively.

I still stand with my initial favorable/unfavorable matchups. The only decks I really felt powerless are Taunt Warrior, Mage + Jaina.
