posted a message on So...is enrage still a thing?

What I find the weirdest is that there's still an enrage daily quest even though so few enrage cards exist at all. The quest is especially bothersome for beginners as 3/9 enrage cards are in Wild, will be going to wild shortly or are of legendary rarity.

posted a message on Card Treasure Hunt

    Let's analyze this poem.

    If you're searching for something
That you know that you've got,
And you need it right now,
I can help you a lot.

This sounds like the card can tutor something out of your deck. The most obvious example of this would be Shadow Visions.

    But my power, of course,
comes at too great a price
    So unless you get ready
    I'll lose you the fight.

The card also has to have some sort of drawback that could even lose you the game if you're not prepared. Temporus comes to mind but he doesn't tutor you any cards.

    And what's the last strike?
    Made me the simplest target?
Let me tell it now this way
I lost out at the market.

About this one I honestly don't know, but it seems like just bonus tips. Could be a reference to a voice line or flavor text.

Overall, a card with a big drawback that can be used to fetch something specific out of your deck. Can't figure it out right now but maybe this'll help other people.

posted a message on And Now For Something Completely Different

I'm happy that someone has been able to make a successful version of Recruit Hunter. As soon as Seeping Oozeling was revealed I got the idea to make a Hunter deck with big beasts with Oozeling copying Kathrena's deathrattle. Here's the deck, by the way:

Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (18) Ability (7) Weapon (4) Playable Hero (1)
    Loading Collection

Originally I had devilsaurs but swapped them for violet wurms for some reason. I didn't really get the deck to work out though (Granted, tried it without Kathrena). Secrets came to my mind a few times but I didn't really like the idea of them, but it turns out they're probably the best way to build the deck. With the dust from Raza and dupes I've been building up I can finally craft Kathrena and test this deck out. Not so sure about Giant Sand Worm, though. It is one of my favorite cards but at the same time it's a bad epic that's about to rotate to wild whereas almost all other cards in the deck will stay in Standard. I did pull King Krush recently but I'm not sure 3 beasts is enough. Can anyone think of replacements or will I just have to craft one?

posted a message on Hearthstone earnings.
    Quote from SamHobbs494 >>

    Quote from Seagull0 >>

It was strictly from a greed POV, to remove adventures in favor of expansions, and people who disagree are just clueless. They saw that people love the game, so they decided to try to capitalize on it: More expansions, packs cost more, more legendaries every expansion.

The Kobold dungeon runs were added as an act of panic because they saw that their game is not good as they thought it was (which made them think that they can get away with making the game more expensive).

Here's to more free content and loot.

It’s a business, not a charity. If they see an opportunity to make more, naturally they will take it.
And no, they are not so ignorant to not know that player satisfaction and revenue are connected. There are so many more factors that their BI team have been reporting and analyzing on. A lot most here won’t be aware of.
they just see: adventure gone, earnings dropped = this has to be the only explanation!!!!!
No it's not just the adventures being gone that makes it the only explanation but that is part of it.
The rest has been mentioned above already. Higher price per pack, double legendary's per set and an extra set per year, all announced in a few months of each other. I know they want us to all be made of money and buy 1000 packs on release day but that's an unrealistic aim on their end. They are pricing lower spending players out of the game and there are more of those than your super whales like Kripp and Kibler so in the long term they lose hard.
Also issues like printing busted ass cards in the first new set of the year and not fixing it until its about to go into wild. That is a joke "its been ok for the whole year you have all been complaining about it but it cant stay like that for ever". If anything that as a huge fuck you from blizzard to the fans. Making stuff like jade mechanics its just bad design and bad design should not be rewarded with our hard earned cash
All these things and more that I haven't even thought of are reasons why their profits have tanked and good, they deserve to loose every penny until they sort this game out.
Looks like people are voting with their wallets though and if they have earned half the amount they did from the year before all they can do is backtrack (which they wont do because it admits they were greedy as fuck) or give us stuff like dungeon runs with every new expansion.
I would except an announcement of Warcraft 4 or Diablo 4 as placation as well but I don't think that is on the cards (haha get it) either
You have some good points here but also a few false accusations. Blizzard didn't double the amount of legendaries per set, it stayed almost the same. Also Patches wasn't printed in the first swäet of the year, it actually came in the last one which means it had much less time in Standard than cards from the first and second expansions. In addition, card balancing and marketing are done by different people in the company so nerfing Patches late doesn't even have anything to do with this topic.

    Quote from Anatak89 >>

It's very hard to predict anything before the expansion (as you mentioned), but I'm really thinking they'll give secret mage something else to work with.  Obviously the loss of Medivh's Valet is tough, but I don't think they want to completely kill the secret mage archetype.

I agree warlock is in a very dangerous spot, and I still believe they'll be top tier for the next year (not complaining about it, just saying).

I think control warrior will make a comeback, and I think midrange shaman will also come back, despite losing the Jade package (they do still have Stormforged Axe, by the way).

If I had to make wild random not-so-bold predictions, I'd say burn mage will also be very strong post-rotation, especially due to the presence of warlocks who are prone to burst spells.  Maybe a Malygos deck will show up too, to deal with it haha.

I would love to see Maly return, last time he was in the meta was in ONiK. This seems like a pretty good time for it too, considering we'll have such a small pool of cards.

posted a message on What will be good after rotation?

Like last year, the meta will shift dramatically with the launch of the first set of 2018 along with Whispers of the old Gods, One Night in Karazhan and Mean Streets of Gadgetzan rotating out of the standard format. I decided to create this thread so we could all mentally prepare ourselves for what the meta will look like. Obviously we know nothing about the next expansion, but we can at least think about which decks will become stronger and which weaker with so many core cards rotating.

Jade Druid is the obvious one, since all Jade cards are from MSoG and thus will be banished into Wild forever. As a side note, other Jade decks, Highlander decks and Handbuff will also be gone (Although of course Blizz could release more highlander support at some point). With Jade Druid and also Machine gun Priest gone, classic control decks could possibly return. Control Warrior seems like an especially good candidate to make a comeback as it has already been strong in the current meta. Secret Mage will also get hit hard: Medivh's Valet, Kabal Crystal Runner, Kabal Lackey and Firelands Portal are all leaving Standard. Warlock seems like the biggest threat so far. There's not a huge amount of cards they're losing since the core cards of Cubelock are all from Classic or sets from last year.

Some decks and cards might actually benefit from these changes. With both Potion of Madness and Devolve rotating, deathrattle cards such as Bloodmage Thalnos, Loot Hoarder and Arfus will all become much more reliable. On the other hand, N'zoth will also be gone, which means deathrattle-themed decks will for the most part depart from Standard. Aggro will also have an easier time facing off against Shamans, as you'll no longer have to worry about Maelstrom Portal and Jade Claws. Big Priest will be much weaker as well with the loss of Barnes and y'shaarj. Anyhow, we're in for some big changes, and personally I'm very excited to see what awaits us in the next Hearthstone year.

Only good for some hunters, evolve shaman, beast druids and Inner Fire priests with room to spare.

Is this a bad thing? Blizzard never wanted the card to be an auto-include in every deck.

posted a message on Patches the Pirate Loses Charge - Four Card Nerfs Coming in February

I haven't been this happy in a good while. These changes were exactly what I wanted. I'm especially surprised and glad that they nerfed Patches, since Blizzard usually doesn't like nerfing cards that are about to rotate. For some reason most people also don't understand how harmful it is to wild. Some people also complain about corridor creeper now being dead even though it's still good in Hunter and Evolve Shammy. Corridor creeper was never meant to be an auto-include in all decks. The Raza change is also very good in my opinion, since a lot of the suggestions people have been making just make the card too complicated, and Blizzard isn't about that. So to summarize: Thank. You. Blizzard.
