The Black Knight has gone in and out of favor over the years. One of the biggest resurgences was because of the popularity of the Lich King in the Frozen Throne. It seemed everyone and their mother had the Black Knight in their deck to counter him, but that quickly faded away.
It seems to me now that the new hype comes from his popularity in the Sunmer Championship, merely as a tech card. A smart choice for a tournament event maybe, but on the ladder? I doubt it.
I’m surprised Shudderwock isn’t in you list. I prefer playing control, so my WR is bad against them.
And also, Shudderwock has the stupidest end-game to look at/user experience. It makes the game look “dumb”. It’s obvious Blizzard never planned the interaction to go this far.
Honestly bro you don't really get jack shit for climbing and reaching legend or rank 5 and above other than some extra dust and a cardback. So, my advice to you is just experiment and play what is fun to you. I personally have never reached legend rank and I've been playing this game for years, all it really is is a grind and I value my time over a stupid number with a yellow background.
The OP was asking how to climb, not about your personal appreciation of rank 5 and legend.
Back to the topic, I’m currently having decent success with Big Spell Mage, as it does well against a lot of popular decks, minus Shudderwock and odd hunter, and the occasional odd paladin. I also like to run a secret version of recruit hunter, and the regular even warlock. These decks have taken me up to rank 3 last season. But as some have pointed out, the key is to understanding your matchups, where your weaknesses and strengths lie, and just take it one game at a time. Good luck!
If you don't run Prince Keleseth, you could try out a secret variant of this deck that uses Emerald Spellstone. It's actually the version I prefer right now, as it seems to take my opponents more off guard. It makes them think I'm spell hunter until the chargers start dropping in!
The secret package is also better against aggro decks.
I beg to differ. Blizzard has been putting a lot of effort into promoting players, giving us bios and highlights and such, basically making them look good for the esport itself. They want to make stars out of them, and with good reason. So for that fact yeah, the viewing experience matters. Image matters, for the game as a whole.
If you think it’s cool to watch a guy that plays like he drank 22 red bulls before the game, that’s great for you.
Some of these players need to chill with the nervous hover over cards. Like Pokrovac for example. Skims stressfully over his cards non-stop. I understand they’re under pressure, but it makes for a bad viewing experience.
After considering recent feedback and significant discussion, we felt that Quest Druid decks were most directly affected in terms of viability as a result of the changes that were introduced with Update 11.2. As such, we allowed players that brought Quest Druid an opportunity to resubmit their deck.
So only those who brought Quest Druid can resubmit? Doesn't that now give them an edge since they already know what others are bringing, or am I missing something?
Ehm, like the idea is cute, but all those 3 and less cost cards seem like they r pretty important in that deck lol :)
They're not late game. It's all up to you when to pull the trigger, but when you found your Murmuring Elemental, you're pretty much good to go. You don't want Doomsayer, Loot Hoarder or Mana Tide Totem on the draw. You want cards that feed into powering up Shudderwock or control the board (Hex and Volcano). Anyways, i've had success (and fun) with it!
Like it or not, i'm one of those players who really likes the idea of using Hemet, Jungle Hunter to thin out Shudderwock decks by destroying all 3 or less cost cards. Had Hex not been nerfed up to 4 mana, it would have fallen victim to Hemet's shotgun. Turns out that upping the chance of getting Hex in the in the mid game makes a huge difference, and plays a large part in making the deck viable.
I overall prefer flash's version. Hand size is less an issue since Hagatha the Witch is out, it uses Lone Champion that's surprisingly powerful with the deck strategy (and sometimes procs on a lone Shudderwock that will get copied with the divine shield + taunt), and finally the elemental package that allows shudderwock to go "infinite" with a reduced Murmuring Elemental. I've had better success with this deck over all other Hemet decks out there.

After years of playing, I’ve finally decided to auto- squelch every game. I say greetings, and squelch.
Since then I’ve noticed a big drop in my own tendency to tilt or make hasty plays.

They’ve all been chewed up by cubes and polymorphed.

So yeah, thanks for the Hex nerf!

I’m still experimenting with Hemet decks, and I found this one to be a bit more competitive, since it tune the murmuring elemental package.
