Definitely seems more a warlock card than priest. Warlocks have an abundance of 1 drops, including lackeys as well as large amounts of reliable card draw to fill their hand to prepare. Priests do not have nearly as many 1 drops, the worst lackey generation and the worst card draw in the game, all of which are IMO necessary for this card to be good.

With what we know right now, solid warlock card, mediocre to bad priest card. That might change with future reveals

Actually Priest is the class with the most 1-drop number (Psychic Conjurer, Scarlet Subjugator, Disciple, Cleric of Scales, Homunculs, Reliquary, new Freshman).

I'm talking about the artwork theme, it's a freaking bloody angry ogre, what does this have to do with priest's identity?

I'm sure someday all this will all come together and Priest's copycat mechanic somehow actually carries the class. And I know a lot of people don't care how good or bad the mechanic is, they just like playing with random cards or use cards from their opponent's deck.

But I'm kinda tired of this theme. Not quite as much as I am of Rogue generating random class cards, but I'm not excited seeing more of it. At least Rogue received some cards that reward you for random card generators with Vendetta and Underbelly Fence, so it's not just "memes" for the sake of it. And it kinda fits the Rogue archetype to have this crafty approach, to improvise and come up with strategies on the fly.

For Priest, it really just feels like a filler, a mechanic that they pull out of the drawer every other expansion when they run out of ideas. I don't really see how imitating, copying, cloning or espionage (since you look into your opponent's deck) is a "Priest" thing to do, and more importantly, they never really do anything with it other than releasing more cards with similar effect and impact. Chameleos, Devour Mind, Cloning Device... this one is more like Madame Lazul, so it may provide a bit of extra intel, but that's all there is to say about it.

This trait got old, and it hasn't aged well. I mean, there was a time when Thoughtsteal was actually pretty good, when resource management was a thing and you could win just because you had one more playable card left. Curious Glimmerroot was also played for a little while. So I'm not saying they are all bad and always will be. But they are mostly played when Priest has little else to play and needs to fill empty deck slots, and they get dropped quickly if better options show up.

The only card that can potentially benefit from this mechanic is Princess Talanji, and she isn't too good either. I'd rather see some things that haven't been done before, or at least see new cards that make old mechanics more interesting. If there were some more cards like Talanji, only better, like "If you hold a card from your opponent's deck, do X" then sure, you can expand that. And who knows, maybe something like that is going to get released in the next few days. But for the time being, this card is just disappointing to me.

    Rant over.

It's the best mechanic in control vs control matches. And I love the idea... Read the mind, own your opponent with their power, like a "law of retaliation". The problem is that Blizzard has never supported the archetype, as for example was done with Rogue, even if it is older than that of the Rogue's one...

However, I always used Archbishop Benedictus last year like tech card vs CW match up.

Priest has always been the combo class. This is not a new development.

Sometimes it gets the tools for control, but that's not the default state. With no evergreen board clears, you can't claim control is its identity.

Wrong... Priest in the past has been the ultimate control class; thanks his steal, value generator mechanics, mind control, entomb, etc... Even at the time of Old Gods, when Priest was trash tier, you still managed to make a deck that outvalues the C'thun Warrior, the strongest control deck of that meta... Control Priest eats on CW for two years (Gadgetzan - Rashtakan).
But now you can't, now all classes will outvalue you and have best endgame cards, best value generator tools; Blizz is destroying the "priest identity" from the beginning of Raven's Year..

Bleah this is not Priest...Priest identity was never as a tempo class, but people bitch about it as they want quick wins. Go play Hunter or Rogue! We control shit and clear the freaking board until the opponent is left empty handed late game and we eat their soil :D I don't even want to play Priest on Standard now because of this stupid combo..
