I feel like Blizzard has learned their lesson from the disaster that was the Joust mechanic >> slightly above standard if won, below standard if lost, overall not worth the risk.

Now they're just printing good efficient vanilla cards (this is basically a yeti) with an upside in case you got the conditions right. I like it.

We have like 127 more cards to go and people are going crazy. Same thing happened with the TGT lol

But TGT sucked. If anything it validates the impression.

Horrible card. Ofc there WILL be people trying to defend it (as with every other crappy card) but fact remains that this is a 0/7 drop for 5 mana. All it takes the opponent to destroy your value is slam one or two minions on it, and voilat, you just paid 5mana for a 7/2 or 7/3.
Fel Reaver is used because while the drawback is huge it's still a 8/8 your opponent has to crash his own minions into to destroy, while this 0/7 is basically a free punching doll with no consequences.

No, you paid 5 mana for a 7/2 or 7/3 AND negating the attack of all minions that attacked into it.
So going by this logic dropping Summoning Stone to die is a viable move? Please. Against control the missed face damage means jack shit and if it's against aggro is a minor benefit. Horrible card, devil's advocates can't possibly change that.
Giving you the initiative in trades, however, is a big advantage to control decks. For example you can prevent your opponent from trading their minions before wiping them out with AOE, avoiding the waste of your other minions. This is before factoring in the fact that should you have board control when playing this, it is indeed a 7/7 for 5 mana, if not better because it isn't BGHable. Plus, to be fair, you're supposed to get the effect off, that's the gist of this card ; And if you do, it'll more than likely trade a 5 drop ; The rest, minions trading into it, possibly health left, is only bonus.
Again, I never said this card was competitive worthy, only that it wasn't senseless garbage.
It's not senseless, just garbage. "Giving you the initiative in trades" isn't enough to pay 5 mana for, otherwise all mages would run Frost Nova which gives you the same effect for 3mana. "You should have the board when playing it" is also not enough at all, there are way better Win-More cards that don't bring along a huge risk like this one (Mukla's Champion to say one). How many Shamans run Bloodlust, which is a far better board-centric Win-More card? None.
    This card sucks.

This is going to be repeat of TGT isn't it?

I hope so, TGT was balanced. Naxx and GvG were not.
More like TGT sucked. Barely any playable minions and mechanics that didn't work.

If the biggest concern of BGH being nerfed is that Giants will run riot, isn't the simplest solution to change the Battlecry to "Destroy a Giant"?

Also a good opportunity to finally introduce the Giant Tribe.

Seems to me a very simple and elegant solution that avoids needing to nerf any Giant.

Card would be dead, nobody is gonna tech in a card that's viable only against a single deck of a single class.
Its makes no sense to talk with you... you think its bad to nerf the BGH because Handlock...
So you will play in standard your really nice godly Handlock and get Legend Nr.1...
Because its give no counter vs the Giants ;)
Strawmanning me isn't gonna make your point look smarter.

Hey everyone, this is sort of an apology on behalf of the community.

You don't represent the whole community, so speak for yourself and not for all of us.

I've never thought Blizzard was greedy when they didn't give us free stuff with LoE and TGT, nor I think that they've suddenly got generous because they're giving us a free gimmick legendary and 3 card packs right now.
C'Thun has synergy with a lot of cards from that set so he's basically a cheap bait they're giving everyone in order to encourage people in investing into the new set. Is that bad?: ofc is not, it's free stuff. Is that generosity?: no it's called marketing strategy.

I earn my money and I couldn't care any less about 3 free packs, I'd rather like to see them pulling out:

    • an interesting expansion with fresh content and new, interesting mechanics
    • a well-conceived rebalancing of the Basic+Classic sets
    • I'd rather see them rethinking their policy about unofficially not giving a fuck about the balance in Wild mode and its grim future in official tournaments
    • I'd rather like not see too many reprints in disguise in the upcoming expansion

Free stuff is always nice but I don't sell out my approval for something as cheap as 3 free packs and a legendary, I'd rather see a great expansion that I have to grind through than an average or shitty one with cheap ideas and some free content.

This, especially the "Unofficial Wild drop". The newest news is that BGH is gonna get nerfed also, so good luck playing Wild where Dr.Boom exists but not his natural nemesis, just so they could push Ch'thun and similar high atk legendaries.
"Fuck Wild but don't say it loud" is pretty much their strategy on this.
