Would say it's critical to find shield slam early on ? I tend to lose hard when i don't draw them early enough because armor generation is gone after playing but that could also be me not playing armor cards well enough.

3/6 taunt has a vanilla cost of 5 mana. At worst you can pair it with Time Out! for the same cost but you loose a turn and a card slot for Fen Creeper, this i a pretty serious gamble although almost unbeatable if you go second against any class that can't deliver ping damage or has a 1-cost already played because you can coin this on turn 1.

On the other hand, it could make your opponent  lose some tempo like for exemple a mage will have to ping you to keep the quest from ending.*

One thing i'm not sure of, does damage taken by armor points count as damage taken ? Looking at Crystallizer combo.

Since RoS has landed, there's a card that became quite valuable for Shaman :Swamp Dragon Egg

On the bright side : it can be killed with either Hagatha the Witch or Hagatha's Scheme, over half of the dragon pool are battlecry and most of them empower Shudderwock. It can cheaply generate a spell through Hagatha the Witch and to some extent to you can get value from it thanks to Swampqueen Hagatha with things like Rockbiter Weapon or Ancestral Healing.

However, it's still a super bad tempo card but you can potentially get two extra lives with Nozari and Shuddy or massives Walking Fountain with the help of Emeriss.

Check this list for the available candidate : https://www.hearthpwn.com/cards?filter-show-standard=y&filter-race=24&filter-premium=1&display=3

Deathwing : Deadcard vs Control unless you somehow have an empty hand (deep fatigue), could insta kill aggro-ish deck if you're not dead.
Emeriss : Great value, especially with random Eureka!
    Kalecgos : Simple value.
Nozari : Laugh at Bomb Warrior.
Alexstrasza : Secret 2TK, stalling, who knows.
Malygos : Big guy, left unanwsered, he can serve.
Nozdormu : Time to troll !
Onyxia : Ever wanted to get use of those useless The Storm Bringer and Bloodlust ?
Ysera : More cards, always good.
Crowd Roaster : Never bad given you can enable it.
Nightscale Matriarch : Waste those precious Witch's Brew to fill your board.
Carrion Drake : Ruthless, you have tons of way to kill one thing and get this.
Dragonmaw Scorcher : Can be really juicy.
Emberscale Drake : Fre 5HP given you can enable it.
Twilight Drake : Almost guaranteed to have over 8 HP at later stages.
    Bronze Herald : Hagatha's best winged friend(s).
    Marsh Drake : Bad.
Faerie Dragon : Must be AOE cleared or traded, provide a spell for 2 mana.

Nice input there ! I've made a couple of changes since but i think some of the stuff might come back, the reason some of the cards didn't stick was because the meta isn't settled so they can't be played because anything can happen and holding card for value at this stage of the meta is a grave mistake.

I effectively dropped the Mana Tide because i had no control on it, pun intended. Instead, i use a Storm Chaser that keep both Far Sight plus only one Haunting Vision. I love Far Sight because for so long it allowed me to mostly play around Overload by having discounted cards i could still play. Besides, the curve got slighly higher so it has more value and less chance to draw 1-2 mana cards but it still has the powerful advantage to be played on top of something else you play on curve, especially earthshock.

It relates to another card, Ysera that is. I agree that she has more reliance than Elysiana because the card pool is narrow compared so you know what kind of outcome you will have but she can also make you overdraw on some cases. I like Ysera and i'd like to play her more but as a general i struggle to play 9 mana cards.Lynchen was dropped too, instead i have a Rain of Toads. At first i targetted high value plays like you described but then i realise that dropping her whenever possible would still be nice, especially with lackeys since there's a high chance you can play them instantly if turn 6 or later.

Lightning bolt was removed too, deemed too restrictive.

Doomsayer is my way of being old school, it's like a signature card for control decks no matter what. Besides, it has potential to force ennemies into playing cards in a way that will hurt them later on or even take risks, like that Hunter who tried to get Huffer to get rid of it but Misha didn't agree to that. The more removal used on them, the better other late game cards will fare. So yeah, pure philosophy.

For now i still have 2 witch's brew because it's not settled yet. I also thought about keeping one and bait people into playing around two of them. For now it's the opposite that happens because i run only one omega mind so when i combo her with hagatha's scheme they expect a second set, it will depends on what will happen the following weeks.

Al'akir was in the original list but i wanted to experiment Walking Foutains without having him around, will see if he makes his way back.

I tested Zentimo a bit with the news cards was disapointed by the lack of interractions with them, there's some but that threw me off.

Earthen Might didn't occur to me as we lost many elementals though we still have a bunch to use, it's pure griefing.

Lastly, i begin to toy with Unseen Saboteur, while having a medioce stat/cost ratio. It is sometimes devastating against some classes such as warrior (brawl on 1 target), mages (randomly targetted fireballs or Conjurer's Calling to get 2 six drops for yourself if he's the only on board) or even rogues (preps and such) but also unplayable against hunters for exemple, especially twin spells.

That moment when you're recommended to put Storm Chaser in your deck and it actually causes Shudderwock to kill yourself.

Well, that sums it up : https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1253616-ros-control-fatigue-value-shaman-updated

I still have to make some tinkering but i think i still too used to the midrange aspect that even shaman was last year and this is why my deck is shaped like that.

posted a message on Struggling with Control Shaman

    Hi,

I want to build a shaman deck, control oriented that is but i struggle with balancing it in terms of playability, efficiency and fun. At first it had Shudderwock but it tends to be a downside for some of the battlecries i used so for now he's out until the deck needs it, if it ever does.

But now, i'm on the case of Chef Nomi who at first seem incredible but i have a problem with him, indeed, he tends to be a dead card that i sometimes play for its body or because i need space in my hand with ALL the bonus cards i get, which is unwise because of his stats compared to his cost.

Lastly, there is Sunreaver Warmage that looks really enjoyable to play as a somewhat better Fire Elemental, so far i've only included Hagatha's Scheme as "big" spell so i removed the warmages because i can't trigger them at will if i must wipe the board or if i just don't draw them in time. I might consider putting them back in if Eureka! makes its way into the deck because two free 6 mana Walking Fountain is something to strongly consider.

If any of you guys feel like sharing experience and thought, i'd be glade to know about it.

    Cya

posted a message on Archmage Jackson anyone ?

Until April 9th, enjoy your stress-free Reno Jackson in Standard. He just has 2 less attack and has no conditionnal trigger aside from using only one spell to secure the combo.

posted a message on The issues with shaman in the year of the raven

Well, Path of Exile has the Scion class and Hearthstone has Shaman. Shaman can do all but all other classes can do better. It has been true for almost the entire game's lifetime, the first time i really grabbed shaman as quite an OTP was during GvG as Mech Sham but then Mage could achieve the same thing much better but that Power Mace tho.

I've played all the deck archetypes that existed for shaman as of today and yeah i always had in mind that another class could likely do better with that same archetype but who cares, they can't summon a 0/2 taunt for 2. I did a post in here more than a year ago about the class most dampening aspect : overload. Statements remain true, the base cards of shaman are essentially overload cards and ever since Shamanstone is over, they only released two cards to make up for the downside of overload which are the 3/2 that had the lava surge effect from Old gods and as of late, Likkim from RR.

Blizzard is so affraid to offer shaman a gameplay that evolve around this mechanic because not only it can proves fun killing and hard to play around but also they cannot "rework" it because it's part of the evergreen which means that either they bring shaman a new identity during each expansion or they don't and we end up waiting another couple of month hoping to get a viable deck archetype. And if you think about it, that explains why Shaman can play so much things another class can run yet better and its most efficient archetype is one that is brought by a neutral mechanic coupled with standalone class cards.

Here are the decks i play :

Note : the last deck named "cacarniflore" is a play word of the french version of shudderwock, basically i renamed it shittierwock. I just precise that so you can aknowledge how genuine my post is.

So i wonder how many times, possibly endlessly, i can go even against a final boss and get to start over after the 45 turns limit. I really didn't wanted to try it out so i ended it but i may had the ideal infinite toying scenario.

Tough to say, she's the reason Even Shaman can contest with control decks and the late game in general. It would take any value engine to replace her : Lich King, The Runespear or another Arcane Dynamo. But to be honest she's one of the top priority legendary class for almost every shaman deck.
