Time and patience means you dont have to spend a dime on this game. I felt ripped off by the TGT preorder, and since then i have only bought adventures (which now is not an issue). I have a ton of cards and some competitive decks, make it to r5, and have a lot of fun. No more $ required.

Im not saying the game is not expensive, because it can be, but it can also be free, so I personally don't see the cost as an issue

For new players, yes I understand the frustration of not having a huge collection, but my wife just started and even got a win on razakus priest with the most garbage hunter deck on her first day! (taking partial credit for being a good coach haha)

There is a simple problem with what you say, yes you can reach rank 5 and even legend by using the exact same mid-range hunter that has existed since Hearthstone is thing, some cards come in and some subpars ones go out but at its core is the same deck but the point is that a a vast majority of the people don't want to just ladder and reach high ranks every season, most people want to accomplish that whle having fun and if you ask me I would shoot myself if I had to play the same hunter deck every day , every game for 2 months in a row, I absolutely agree HS is not pay to win at all, as I said the same exact super cheap hunter deck can take you to legend on multiple expansions aand metas but that is not fun at all, I don't expect to be on a streamer level that spends thousands of dollars every year and they can play whatever deck they want, no matter how much of a meme and shit it is but I still would like to be able to play all decent decks without having to drop big bucks for Blizzard, if you want to be realistic a lot of players have to choose classes and almost drop other ones to stay competitive.
And this will never stop being a problem cause there will always be people that are willing to pay whatever money Blizzard asks for, we call them Big Whales, and here is a simple example, Brian Kibler is one of the most popular streamers currently, he reaches legend every season but very very rarely plays any "good deck", the stuff he plays is, a lot of the times, borderline meme-ish, the problem here is that he has an obssesion with having all his cards golden... worse than this he has saved around 45k gold but still every expansion he drops hundreds of dollars to buy packs for literally no reason, players like him make it so Blizzard will never check the price to toggle them down a bit, if there's people willing to pay that kind of money every 4 months and even when they announced no more adventures and even 2 legendaries per class, blizzard will just keep the prices as they are and even make the game more expensive.
I totally get what you're saying. I mentioned the hunter deck as more of inspiration for new players, or players who aren't playing the top tier decks. Having fun and playing competitively is possible, you just cant expect to win with every deck. You can build an outrageous all golden super expensive deck and not win. Heck with the way Blizzard designs their legendaries, it seems as though they are in favor of the players that cant afford massive collections.
What i was trying to say, with a well thought out deck using the cards you have at your disposal, it can take you a long way if you have experience. I have a pretty extensive collection, but i typically like to play fun decks of my own design that hang around r15 most the time. And if you are free to play and new, sure it means you cant play any deck you want and be competitive, but that is the case for every card game out there.
As a former MTG player, I really appreciate the dust system in hearthstone. Since i have been playing so long, it has really enabled me to play any decktype/hero I want without having to spend anything. Although you are totally right, i almost completely ignore certain classes (warrior, warlock)

But the dusting system in HS is just terrible, I'm not asking for a full price refund for every card you don't need and/or want anymore, that would just be thw worst economy for Blizzard and probably the game would end up not existing any more but the amount of dust you get back from your cards is just miserable, the fact tht out of the most standart of packs you usually get 40 dust is just horrible and getting 25% off your cards (12,5 if common) sucks, a lot of people say you shouldn't dust any cards unless they are literal thrash and is so bad that even if blizzard printed other 29 cards to support this card, the deck overall would still end up being shit but how can you do that and still play whatever you want? it isn't possible unless you put more money into the game and the worst thing is that you end up feeling like shit because you have to dust a large amount of cards to just get ~25% of it back. I don't think the way blizzard is handling the free stuff is the correct one, yes getting a DK was sweet and now getting a legendary weapon and 10 free packs rocks but if they could re-work their reward system, maybe giving small amounts of gold and dust for just logging in every day, creating some actual achievement system that rewarded you for doing in-game or PvP stuff, the end season chest would actully be rewarding (500 dust to get to rank 5 is nothing and then if you consider the fact that you have to grind A LOT to get to legend and you get 100more is a fucking joke) and then changed the ladder system so you don't have to grind your ass off, I 100% assure you that people would stop complaining a lot, with simple changes like that.

posted a message on difficulty spike at end of month!?

What rank are you currently on? It should technically be easier as the better players start to ladder up to the point you find players that should be on that rank and will more than likely end the season on that rank, so if you can't progress further it probably means that that is the rank where you should be according to your skill, this obviously is not perfect science and you could just have a bad luck streak or something might be tilting you or something as simple as for whatever reason your opponents may be drawing better than you. And no you don't lose your bonus, that's directly linked to your highest rank achieved aka your chest.

I was almost at rank 12, and now I'm on rank 15 with zero stars. I have been extremely unlucky in card draw and match up's as well I think.

Basically refining my decks for the current mini-meta I'm facing... so many control warlocks, man. I didn't even think cntrl-lock was in a good place, but it's stomping me. If it wasn't so close to a new meta I'd just craft myself a tempo rogue then ruin everyone. ha ha. I have about 6k dust and only need around 5800 to make it happen, but I think it's a stupid idea really as I will need new cards on the 8th to make my decks viable.

I do have the 50x pack pre ordered, but who's to say I will get anything I can even really use... the dust as a back up is probably my best option.

PS: I find mid month to be the sweet spot. I think too many people think they can ladder easy at the end of the month now and it's actually countering itself as far too many really strong decks tonight it seems.
at least I won't loose my rank bonus though. highest I've climbed this month is rank 13 though, I wish I'd not taken a break and kept playing as I could have climbed much further last week.

PPS: anything I can play now that will get me more wins, like hard counter to the mini end of month meta? I do have options with hunter as I got Dk rexxar for free, i doubt hunter is all that good right now though, even though I got ruined by one in a few turns before,
No don't you craft anything rn we are literally a week away form the new expansion and while I think tempo rogue will still be strong, anything could happen, so save the dust. Also as I said maybe rank 12 is you cap as long as your current skill is, maybe you could make it to 10 with a streak of good match-ups and a bit of luck but 12 is probably your "real and honest" ranking. And as the other guys said, people that are not at their desired rank yet are now just playing the more try hard decks they have and the best against their local meta, so that also makes it difficult to ladder this late in the season. As for what's good against controlock really the more reliable stuff are greedier control decks or at least more solid ones, minion-based decks are bad against that archetype cause Warlock has an unhealthy amount of removals and board clears, Defile, Drain Souls, Syphon soul, Hellfire and Twisting Nether are really strong against fat boards with a lot of minions and then if you get to turn 10 you lose as you have no board, they bring their demon legion back with gul'dan and then they have a 3 damage ping that also heals for 3 every turn from that point on.

posted a message on Jade Lotus(at least the Golem side) rework

I won't talk about how horrible and bad this changes you suggest are cause everyone else pointed that out but why do you even bother changing the rarity of the cards? Making a rare card epic has absolutely no impact, it's only worse for f2p and new players, other than that it has absolutely no impact at all, if your olan was to screw new and budget players then great suggestion, other than that our suggestion are probably the worst thing I've seen from a fellow player, just quit.

Man does Stancifka own this website or something? How is it that only his decks get showcased when there are a lot of prominent deck builders, he either owns the website or is a super close friend to the dude that does.

posted a message on is control/n'zoth death rattle valid in this meta?

I really wouldn't craft anything when there is just 2 weeks to the new expansion where the meta is gonna change at least a little bit... As for if N'zoth is good, well he's ok I've been trying things like N'zoth Highlander Priest or N'zoth Jade Rogue and they are ok but honestly the more standart or common versions of those decks are better. The only really good/fun use of N'zoth was a Control Priest I tried which only used Tortolians and Obsidian Statues and then some Stonehills to get more Statues (Tortolians are ok as well) and then Eternal Servitude to revive more statues and then cockblock the opponent by reviving like 4 Statues or so, other than that if you have the cards the overall N'zoth archetype is fun to play with and it can be decent enough but I would never recommend crafting him when there are so many insanely pówerful legendaries available that are 200% better, if you have all the other legendaries or dust to throw out of the window then I guess isa fun ok craft.

What is the real intention with journey from below?

    Get another Aya?

You can get a second Aya which would be like the highroll but other stuff like Swarmer and Xaril are pretty decent + it's a cheap spell that you can cycle with auctioneer

posted a message on Conflicted with which to go first; Experiment decks or Dungeon Run?

I'll open all the packs I have and then jump into dungeons to get the card back, that way I can wait until the new decks start rolling in so I know what to craft/dust.
