Maybe if you're using meta decks. My advice: don't use a meta deck.

What? Any half-decent control deck can manage a barrage from DH. Just wait for them to burn out and then start dropping your big minions.

vulpera seems nice in this deck.

I can see where you going with this--more card generation and synergy with King Phaoris. It could maybe replace x1 of Noble Sacrifice or x1 of Air Raid--maybe one of both? I'll have to play around with combinations before I make any changes. Thanks for the suggestion!

They said it couldn't be done. They mocked us. "Macinstosh, Control Paladin can't hurt us", they said. "He's not real", they said. Well, it is fiction no longer! Coming to you straight from Macinstosh's secret laboratory (me mum's basement) comes another amalgamation of cards, fine tuned into one neat little package. Now, I proudly present:

    • People don't want to put the time into learning the meta because they're afraid they wouldn't be able to win a "mirror match." They know deep down in a vacuum they are less skilled, so if the meta is "more diverse" it'll automatically make them better. They are wrong and don't have the self awareness to learn this. They are no more successful in a different meta and are not happier

Except in Hearthstone, there are classes that get completely left in the dust by some, if not all the others. You can end up at a massive disadvantage by playing certain classes. That sounds like a balance/meta problem and not a player problem.

Also, imagine regarding anything on Reddit as the golden standard.

I assume the 17 damage comes from having equipped Flamereaper earlier and playing Inner Demon + 2 x Twin Slice + Hero power. Actually one could theoretically play Kael'thas SunstriderTwin SliceInner DemonTwin SliceInner Demon + Hero Power for 25 damage from the hero in one turn

But that's really not the hero power doing that damage, is it? The bulk of that damage is from cards that have nothing to do with the hero power and could be done regardless of if you press the button. It's just total damage from a bunch of attack boosters. Taking what they were saying before about Mage, it's like saying Mage can do 13 damage with their Hero Power by using 2x Fireball. Or it's like saying Druid can do 9 damage from their hero power by using 2x Bite.

Basically what I'm saying is, it's nonsense to say that the hero power is doing 17 damage here. It's totally fair to say that DH has too many class cards that allow it to burst for 17 damage, but not that the blame is on the hero power specifically.

The problem is that DH's hero power is really easy to combo for massive damage, which also happens to be one of the main selling points of the class. Mage on the other hand gets very little value out of its her power in comparison. DH's 1-cost HP is unjustified.

What massive damage combo explicitly requires the DH hero power? Let's say you used Kael'thas Sunstrider w/ 2x Twin Slice and 2x Inner Demon for 20 damage AND THEN hero power to bring it to 21. Was the 1 mana +1 damage really the problem here?

I could buy an argument that the hero power ADDS UP to a lot of damage over the course of the game because 1 mana is easy to weave into a turn, but that's not what you're saying. And if you are, then both Rogue and Hunter should be problems as well because their hero powers also average 2 damage for 2 mana.

You're just cherry-picking at this point. Every turn, DH has the potential to do at least 5 damage using the hero power. When the class is so reliant on cards that buff its hero power (obviously the focus that Blizzard wanted for DH), then what is the real problem? 5 or 6 cards that buff the hero power (mind you, these types of cards are what Blizzard is trying to use to make DH unique) or the hero power? All of a sudden, if the hero power gets nerfed to 2 mana, the wild combos coming from those cards are less of an issue. Still a threat but less of an issue. Why nerf 5-6 cards when you can just nerf the one mechanic?

Honestly, I like the 1-mana hero power. It's comparable to Rogue (since for Rogue it can be thought of as +1 attack for 2 attacks for 2 mana, while Demon Hunter is +1 attack for 1 attack for 1 mana). It helps make it feel distinct from Rogue by making Demon Hunter get all up in your face every turn to get the value, while Rogue feels more patient by comparison since they equip the dagger and wait to strike.

Then why does Mage's hero power cost 2 while DH's doesn't? DH also has cards that have synergy with his hero power while Mage doesn't. So why is DH's a 1-cost?

Mage's hero power is really different to DH. It ignores taunt and the Mage doesn't take any damage when they use it. That's why it costs (2) instead of (1).

Mage also has had cards that synergize with their hero power, such as Daring Fire-Eater, Jan'alai, the Dragonhawk, Frost Lich Jaina, Arcane Amplifier, and Coldarra Drake.

Kayn Sunfury also allows you to ignore taunt. All those Mage cards are in separate expansions; DH has them all in Standard. DH can also hit 17 damage with his Hero Power in one turn if the right cards are in play/in his hand. None of the cards you mentioned are even close to the power level of DH's hero-power synergy cards.

posted a message on DH healthy for the meta?

Why should only one or two classes rule the meta? Each class should have the ability to face each other in equal combat.  So, no, DH is and Rogue are not healthy for the meta.
