    Quote from Toribasher >>

I've played against tons of different kinds of decks including Beast Hunters and Shaman using Bolner plus Y’Shaarj to resummon tons of Dunk Tanks and Circus Medics and do a ton of damage (this apparently is a successful deck, this guy had a fairly good legend rank).

It seems most classes have multiple deck types going on and some classes have several decent options.

I'm fairly surprised that the Drethar nerf apparently did so much to both Overload Shaman and Demon Hunter.  The Dragonbane nerf has reduced Questline Hunter maybe more than it should.

Man, wish I was at your ranks or had your mmr. Which ever decides the kind of matches. Once you get to platinum and diamond, it's a whole shitshow of the usual cancer stuff. Glad your rank experience is at least diverse. Not everyone's so lucky.

Quest hunter didn't get nerfed enough. Rapid fire needs further nerf if they really want the non-baku version to get hit. Trouble is how can you nerf it without giving the spell back to the baku version? Neither version of the quest hunter feels good to play against.

I don't think Pirate rogue specifically is a problem but the pirate package overall, specifically the neutral ones...yeah they need an overhaul. Universal problems like Mr. Smite will probably be addressed sooner rather than later, but they really have to look at the others too.  Southsea's Deckhand and Captain really need looking at. There's just too much neutral aggro value for this tribe that can cause LOTS of problems if not addressed.

posted a message on Nerf Nagas in to the ground pls. Its been long enough already.

Uh, no. Not all Nagas are a problem. Some of them are legit fun and overall ok at best. There are one or two problematic of course but it's not the entire tribe.

Also keep in mind this is in fact a new tribe. Much like when DH came in as a new class and they had ridiculously strong cards when the class was brought in. Same concept.

If DH had come in with week class cards, people would've bitched all over to high heaven that DH was "DOA" and a useless waste of space.

IF Nagas came is with week cards as a tribe, people would've bitched just as loud about the tribe. Much more so than the odd poster complaining about the nagas power level. So of course giving them decent to very strong cards in their introduction was the smart choice.

    No.

Rogue is bottom of the barrel right now.
    We get to have fun.

I wouldn't say that. Pirate Rogue is just as bad as Pirate Warrior in wild.

The only difference between the two hyper aggro decks is which boss card the decks rely on to win. For Rogue is Hooktusk, for Warrior it's either Rokara or Nellie.

Either way both decks aim to kill you by turn 6 and have been pretty consistent since set release. The nerf to warrior quest was pointless.

posted a message on No Reno decks around
    Quote from Ophion-EU >>

There are a number of reasons all contributing.

    1. The card pool is small right now after the rotation, making it hard to build a high quality deck. A lot of decks can't find enough AoE right now for example.

    2. When he was released it was rare for non-OTK decks to deal more than 10-15 damage in a turn and aggressive decks ran out of cards in hand very quickly. Nowadays a lot of decks will casually burst you for 20-30+ damage, and aggressive decks don't run out of cards until they've drawn most of their deck. In other words Reno's effect is simply less valuable in the current game.

    3. It's much harder to find synergies and win-conditions when you're limited to 1 copy per card. Shaman for example can't run the freeze package, Mage can't run the hero power package, you can't run most tribes, etc. Your win condition has to be either straight up value from individually strong cards, which is not viable in present day Hearthstone, or it has to be based on single copies of cards, something which is not available in all classes.

Since a lot of these factors probably aren't changing any time soon, I think there needs to be some Kazakus style cards printed to make the strategy viable.

I'm thinking the next set or two will most likely get a hand full of new highlander cards. Possibly even in Sunken City's mini-set. I doubt Blizz would bring Reno back without a plan. Maybe the Sunken City mini-set will be some crazy mini story were the League has the explore it to get some artifact or treasure. Who knows?

Either way Reno simply feels too naked on his own. Without other highlander cards to support him he's too isolated to get value.

posted a message on No Reno decks around

I think it's partly because Reno's very out dated in the sense that aggro players have 'more options' to take the game back after you swing the game your way with a full heal. Back when he came out players couldn't do that. Now the pressure from aggro archetypes is so great the healing doesn't matter.

Also it probably really is in part because Reno's the only highlander card they brought over. If they wanted the highlander archetype to be more viable then they needed to bring at least a couple more over. I'm not saying both were necessary at the same time, but EITHER Zephyrus or Alextsraza were very much needed to give highlander the boost they need. Otherwise they probably don't have a real win condition as is. Unpopular opinion I know because this community loves to give Zephy a lot of hate but the other highlanders really made those decks. Not Reno.

And until "charge" goes away as a keyword forever, standard highlander decks are simply gonna struggle. Plain and simple.

posted a message on Potential Card Nerfs

The problem for balance changes this meta is it's hard to pinpoint precise problems. A lot of cards like mech minions wouldn't even be problems if not support from the rest of the minion type. If not for galvanizer and mechwarper in wild shark wouldn't be an issue at all. Maybe change both warper and Galvanizer to reducing the mechs cost in hand by 1 but not less than 1 would help slow things down a tad.

Pirates are a problem of course but instead of hitting the whole tribe I think nerfs to Smite and Raid the Docks (again!) would help the cause alot. Even if all 3 tiers of Raid the Docks were at 3 each it's still way to easy to complete. Maybe nerf it so first tier is 4 pirates and second two stages you have to play 3 pirates each.

Smite changes his "Charge" and other Pirates "Charge" to both "Rush" each.

Change switcharoo so it only swaps mana costs.

posted a message on Blizzard screws up every release...

Yeah. While I won't go as far as to say they completely screw up release day, they do in fact mis-design cards. A LOT. Smite was a terrible example of this last expansion.

honestly I don't think any one card is to blame this expansion but, I will say, a lot of the power that comes with this set does compound pre-existing problems and create new ones from old cards that people on both sides of the fence knew were problematic already, especially in wild.

The biggest example this meta is mechs. On their own face value they aren't so much a problem, but with the OTHER mechs that are available in the pool, they're devastating. Without the likes of Mechwarper  or Galvanizer, cards like Mechashark or Seafloor Getaway wouldn't be much of a problem. But thanks to those two minions mechs can get explosive otk kills quite easily now.

Same thing with Switcharoo. The card on its own is fine, but as long as charge minions exist otk's will always be possible with it. Boar is especially a problem with this. Even if they did something so minor as to change Boar's "Charge" to "Rush" it'd solve a LOT of problems. It sucks Blizzard reversed their "we need less charge minions" policy already, but don't give them even more power on top of it, please. Charge is devastating enough on its own.

Kibler's gonna be a great streamer to watch this year. I remember he LOVED Reno decks and Tess was one of his fav decks of all time.

Even I might enjoy some standard this year. Just wish at least one of the other highlander cards could've been brought back too.

posted a message on Duels Reveal by RegisKillbin - The 4 Explorers Return!
    Quote from AoD7 >>

Why put this in the card reveal schedule under the new expansion countdown?

Because otherwise people wouldn't pay as much attention or care. Duels isn't any wear near as popular as constructed. They need as much hype as possible for their other shit modes, why do you think shitgrounds got to take up HALF of our prize slots for the CONSTRUCTED battlepass achievement track this season? They need to build hype for shitgrounds since there's no real way to do it otherwise. Shitgrounds is a f2p mode so they can't really make that much advertisement hype off of it.

They pull garbage like that again for my constructed stuff, then I'm really considering pulling out of the battlepass. I pay for hearthstone stuff, not shitgrounds.

I mean offering up the whole set for gold in a bundle is a sweet idea.

But why 70 bucks? 50 bucks probably would've sufficed.

posted a message on Want to get back into hearthstone

    Welcome back!

Which mode do you intend on playing most? If it's standard, I'd highly recommend paying close attention to the top decks there and craft the cheapest ones you can afford and do some resource grinding. It takes some time but should be doable.

If you wanna focus on any one set I'd highly recommend United in Stormwind. Easily best set (In terms of power level) of the year and its filled with the most powerful and broken cards and a lot of current decks are centered around those recent Legendary Quests.

I'm in wild and there, Pirates and Tavish hunter variants are HUGE. Both decks are getting hit with the latest nerf patch but don't let the patch fool you, the meta won't change much. Hunters will merely forgo Baku if need be and it will still be a strong deck. Both tavish and pirates are relatively strong and cheaper decks to craft in wild.

posted a message on Alterac mini set

Don't get too excited. Questlines are still a thing. Until they get addressed what's the point?

The "perfect world" solution is to print a card that says "Battlecry: Destroy the Enemy's quest or questline spell",

The "I'll settle for" solution would be to print a card that says "Battlecry: RETURN the enemy's quest or questline spell to their hand" and the rule would be once it's returned to hand the quest resets back to the start.

But hey, the balance teams being what they are I doubt they'll be addressed at all.
