It doesn't actually kill anything, just reduces a single threat to a 3/3. If it could have attacked multiple times like hulking overfiend then it would be so much better.
Compare it to deathwing mad aspect which could clear a board or generally a few minions for the same cost, AND sometimes left a threatening body behind, this card just doesn't compare.
Vicious syndicate has a current zoolock build which only has 2 epics and the other cards are commons and rares.
It's very competitive, relying on insane imprisoned scrap imp buffs.
Seeing as that's so cheap, you might as well blow your dust on handlock too. If you learn the deck and the meta, it could definitely get you a smidge over a 50% winrate, and as others have said, it's a very fun deck to play. Especially if you like control decks.
These both seem quite complicated compared to just drawing your deck, playing 1 galvaniser to discount mecha'cthun and then playing plague of flames with it on your last turn.
I accept you can't dump your hand like you can with a cataclysm play, but ive had decent success (admittedly only mid rank wild) without running bloodbloom, cataclysm etc at all.
Similar story here for me. I started with a 10 star bonus, and with some casual sessions over the last 3 days, have reached Diamond 4 playing multiple decks for variety.
Will probably knuckle down with Galakrond Warrior until the expansion hits to close in on legend. Hopefully all month will give plenty of time to get there.
Plague of flames could help to make this usable on turn 5, if you have a few minions ready on your side of the board. Zoolock, or the galakrond invokes will help with this.
Fun deck to play, sadly i lost every game, both control and aggro. I had a good time though. Early game survivability is lacking a bit, and silence effects seem pretty common when you do plonk a big taunt down. At least in the 5 games i played.

Exact same thing happened to me too this month.
Must have made D1 5 timed then hit D5.0 again every time.
I eventually made it today with Tempo Rogue (not a full aggro variant. There is a decklist with great guide on this site. )
Don't give up and you'll do it!

Doesn't seem too good for 8 mana.

I'm not sure if Sanctuary works in this deck. Illidans hero power makes it very unlikely your hero will escape damage.
Glad it worked for you though, I've had 4 attempts, no joy yet. Nozdormu on turn 4 was the closest i could get.

I thought the thread title referred to decks in the current tavern brawl!

I have to say I enjoyed reading this, even if the feelings behind it all are a bit toxic.
Glad you got the vindication you wanted. You told the story well.

Maybe dread corsair x2 to bolster the pirate package? With the weapons and hero power it should be easy to cheat them out.
Metamorphosis is also very good if you don't already run it.

Same! Let's hope it becomes key in the future, because right now I am not impressed!

If Reno high rolls he's unbeatable in that encounter. Twice he killed me on turn 3.
Once you get galakrond going though it becomes an amusing battle.

Will keep playing the deck for a bit though!

That would then create the issue of a large portion of the set being invalidated for cards with the invoke keyword.
