posted a message on Way to make Raza/DK priest less oppressive: nerf Raza the Chained

I think another good change would be having Raza read "your current hero power" instead of your hero power for the rest of the game.  I think this is a good enough nerf as well, especially considering that while Razakus Priest is a strong deck, but not nearly as obscene as pre-nerf Jade Druid

I personally think Shadowreaper Anduin's hero power should just deal 1 damage every time, I personally think the hero power with Prophet Velen dealing 4 damage a pop is waaaay too much.  Priest as a whole is a class built around not having efficient burst and even with the hero power dealing 2 damage a pop it feels like a priest can burst you down just like a classic freeze mage could, and that was an entire deck in a class that specializes in burst.  The Razakus priest deck literally just runs Shadowreaper Anduin as their only burst card.  I love the card and it's flavor, but just lowering the damage each ping by 1 should feel and be solid.  It's still certainly possible to nuke your opponent for 10 over 2 turns with this.  Also it should make the matchup more "fun" to play against as it doesn't feel as bad for a priest of all classes to be bursting you for so much.

How is it a step in the right direction? You get cardbacks not from playing the game but from a website no1 cares about

We can already get those, and this is all extra content.  Trust me if Blizzard wanted to add more of card backs for in-game achievements it would be fine by me, but this event is also pretty much being sponsored by and paid for by Twitch as they partnered with hearthstone for this event, if I were to guess.

Thank you for the reply!  I was just really upset to see most people's reactions to something that many people (including me) have been wanting for quite a while, which are more events in the game (I've been playing since a month before the release of Naxx).

I can understand most of your points besides the one where you say that it would be better if Blizzard rewarded players with rewards that inherently change the game.  I'm assuming this means like giving a player a free legendary however that would create many problems.  First of all most people would probably start accusing Blizzard of making the game pay-to-win by making players pay for a game-changing legendary (a non-aesthetic change) and I would agree with them that this is unfair.  Other games do provide players with game-changing content that can give players who pay an advantage and that can feel extremely unfair.

Also I can agree that for the vast majority of players, this event does not provide much content outside of card backs, but I feel that having both events that reward players in larger or smaller ways is ok.  The fact that multiple and different feeling events are being made is very good for the game.

About my first point, I just meant that for people complaining that this event is a detriment to the game overall, and not as an excuse for allowing blizzard to make poor optional content, which I believe this is not an example of.

About my third point I agree that the true competition is only for the few streamers involved, but there is some level of involvement a player will feel when winning games with their chosen card back to help the team they support.  This adds on to what you play constructed hearthstone for which is typically golden hero portraits or the legend rank.

Finally I also really like your idea of the Choose-your-champion addition to the event, and I feel like I would be an interesting extra reward for the otherwise smaller event for the player, but I guess Blizzard is opting to make it a smaller event.

    1.  Does anyone realize that this an OPTIONAL event for anyone WILLING to participate in it

    2.  The reward is two card backs, it's great that we even get anything and this is a step in the right direction for blizzard to be introducing new events like the fire and frost festivals into hearthstone and not just expansions

    3.  It will create some more different and fun competition in hearthstone featuring popular streamers besides what we are used to

    4.  Blizzard has no control over what countries have access to a twitch/amazon product

If it's not for you, just don't get prime and appreciate the fact that blizzard is trying to do something new and innovative to the game so many people complains is stale.  I in fact do not have twitch prime so I will not be doing this, but I think this event is a good thing for the game to give more incentive (in the form of giving their team a boost in the competition) to play besides reaching legend or obtaining a golden hero portrait, if you already have or are willing to purchase prime.  And if you don't participate, you can still watch the weekly games and enjoy those.  Overall I'm happy blizzard is willing to expand the hearthstone IP by doing more than just creating expansions, and I hope they do more things like these in the future.

I think Gul'Dan has awesome emotes

    "Your suffering will be...LEGENDARY"

    and my favorite

    "That served no purpose"

Personally, I think Thrall has the worst emotes

Thanks for the advice!  I don't track my stats but I also found that not going full aggro and not going full value with the elementals against priest is usually the right way to play, and to instead trying to balance out my plays and threats and always playing around potential removal swings and clears.  Going face over clearing tends to be more effective.  I find that Jade Druid is also a tougher matchup (I'd say I can win about half the time) but definitely have less in the way of full board clears so I tend to be more aggressive against them.  Tempo swings are the typical way I beat them.

Just hit rank 1 with the exact decklist, so far it's been performing great!!! (Went from rank 5-1 after 2 days of straight playing this deck only and about 40-50 games in total). I can easily beat any Exodia Mages and Miracle Rogues just by rushing them down, and any aggressive decks (ie Aggro Druid, Murloc Paladin, Pirate Warrior, Evolve Shaman) can be beat by out-tempoing them with your SI:7 Agent and Fire Plume Phoenix and a decent turn 1/2.  Also Prince Keleseth ends the game on the spot when played on turn 2 80% of the time, which is always fun.  I feel Kazakus Priest decks are my most unfavored matchups, any tips on how to play the matchup more effectively??

I beat three this morning, just play as aggressively as you can and try not to be tempted by all of the value your elementals can give lol

I saw this deck a few days ago and I was like wow that deck looks like so much fun so i decided to craft up Prince Keleseth and give the deck a try!!

The deck is really fun and surprisingly effective, I was able to get from rank 5 to 3 in about an hour and a half, which is good by my standards as a monthly rank 5 player. Shadowcaster is insane in the deck and there's nothing more satisfying than using a Shadowcaster on Prince Keleseth, and then watching the opponent get rammed down by 3/3 pirates xD

Also Grave Shambler is fantastic in this deck, I always love seeing decks make use of cards many people forget about

It's unlikely that Blizzard will change any of the cards from the new expansion or any other cards for that matter in at least 3 months, and even if they do the cards they change will be able to be dusted at a 100% refund, so I wouldn't worry about that if you want to make the deck
