posted a message on Should I buy Classic or TGT packs?

Personally, I would buy TGT as you get classic packs for Tavern Brawl, Quests ("watch a friend play via spectate"), and optionally via gold (again, earned via quests).

In this way, you'll be able to play some of the newer cards that mix well with the BASIC class cards (earned just by leveling your character). If you win 100 games (any mode), you get 300 gold (which translates to another 3 packs - classic ones if you choose).

If it were me spending that money, I would go with TGT all day.

And, as a bit of an aside: you can dust several of the TGT legendaries (like Ramshield) without much worry. This would translate into crafting capability - again something you could focus on Classic cards. At this point, there are many TGT cards that are worthwhile, and Classic has a ton of playability - but you'll likely only end up using a select amount of TGT cards, thus leaving you free to dust the remainder (especially rare/legendary) to craft your specific Classic cards you may be missing.

Oh hey, Fluxflashor - you make the pages. Nice!

Thanks for the insight and feedback/response. It is somewhat of a minor point overall, but then so is most of UX. It all adds up - and I definitely agree that if amounts to keeping people on Hearthpwn, then it's worth it.

I'd be glad to provide any other feedback. Let me know!

posted a message on No more 10 gold rewards every 3 wins?

The counter doesn't show up, but you do get the gold. In most cases, it still shows the 10 gold reward on-screen as it always has, just without the counter display (and progressing) each time.

Thanks for taking the time to work through the feedback. Having a "Classic" (Expert) link that directs to a pre-set filter on the "Cards" search page is definitely one step closer to getting that content in front of users.

As for the card page itself, including the "Obtained by:" descriptor would be useful in further exposing how I go about obtaining the card (crafting, packs, adventure reward, etc.). I believe the "Gamepedia" (wiki) link on each card describes this - but again, that has me going off-site.  I suppose that makes sense when attempting to gain impressions (especially when monetized). Still, it seems like a small bit of content that just seems to be glaringly absent from the card's page itself.

That is very useful, though there is nothing that immediately does the same for the "Classic" set. Further, there isn't a page for "Classic" like there is for GvG and TGT.

It just seems that a lot of the relevant information for each set is spread across multiple pages. Though each page has their distinct purpose, it just all feels a bit disconnected. Basic aggregation like a "Classic" page or pre-set filter on the "Cards" dropdown may help. Then again, impressions/page views is something to keep in mind - though I'd day UX is  paramount.

Still though, even something like an "Obtained by: " descriptor for each card would have prevented me from going off site.

posted a message on Change to Hearthpwn Topnav to include "Sets"

    Here's my user story:

I'm currently making my way through the Naxxramas adventure, namely preparing for each boss by creating decks from scratch or using decks found here at Hearthpwn.

As I was browsing the main page (checking in on TGT news!), I curiously clicked on the "Naxxramas" button in the "Top Deck" section found near the top of the main page. This led me to the deck linked below.

I have never come across The Black Knight before, so I clicked through to its link (wiki?) to find out how to get it, thinking it was perhaps a quest/adventure reward from Naxx.

Instead, it's listed as from the set "Expert". Having played Hearthstone since the beginning, though only sporadically, I felt confident in my belief that this was what is now known as "Classic", though I wanted to confirm what was defined as the "Expert" set. When I clicked on the link for "Set: Expert", I was brought to a page that simply listed all of the cards in the "Expert" set.

Lame as it may sound (reflecting on me =/  ), I still was not sure if I could get the card from a quest/adventure reward, etc. - so I went to Google (!!!) to search for "Hearthstone card sets". That led me to this page, at Gamepedia, that describes each card set really well. I had found my answer (..."Classic, formerly known as Expert" ).

TL;DR - I think there's an easy win here that both consolidates the topnav (leaving room for future expansions/whatever) while also providing another great central, on-site, resource for new, returning, curious, or expert players alike....

"Card Sets" topnav item with expando/dropdown, listing each set - Classic (Expert), GvG, TGT. Each item in the ddl links to the existing efforts, with perhaps a new page for Classic (wiki, editable by the community? not sure how each page is built, but it looks like a person named Fluxflashor does each really well).

Anyway, just a suggestion that might help keep new and existing players on-site and informed.

This is a great idea for Paladin decks in the current Tavern Brawl! :D Thanks for the inspiration.
