Not sure how useful it is, but Elder Scrolls Legends did this exact keyword already. they just greyed out the inactive effect.

whatTheHeck posted a message on Custom Class Competition #6: Phase Two, VotingPosted in: Fan CreationsHmm, why eliminate anyone for this round? That is, why not just let the current 11 roll through and then add up the cumulative scores for the Initiate set to determine the final 4?
I get that initially the "Eliminate five each round until you get to four finalists" was clean and symmetrical, but with the phase two non-participants self reducing the number of contestants anyway, at this point I don't think the difference between 10 and 11 contestants in the third phase is too much cognitive load to handle.
I personally agree with this, it's one set after all, some people maybe will unleash their set full potential with the set's second half.

- Unlike the Mechazod Tavern Brawl, this Adventure Battle allows the player to create their own deck. Therefore, there are several things that have no effect:
- Silence has no effect on Marie.
- Poisonous minions have no effect on Marie.
- Marie can never leave the board. (Sap, Vanish)
- She cannot be destroyed by effects such as Assassinate or The Black Knight.
- She cannot be affected by any enchantments. (Humility, Subdue, etc.)
- Mecha'thun works... but you would just destroy your ally, so you'd lose.
- Like the Tavern Brawl, Marie will clear your board if you have 7 minions and she switches to your side.
- Like Mechazod, Marie has certain algorithms to improve her performance. For example, Mechazod tries not to Overclock too often.
- She will not use Royal Decree if there are no powerful, heavily buffed, minions.

Greetings, Adventurer! I am Mariscal Lord Garithos, time traveler and guide of the Human race.
In the ominous future I come from, a Horde of wretched monsters came from another world and destroyed our precious Azeroth. Many other calamities followed that invasions, and now Undead and Demons alike walk over once sacred lands.
That's why I came to this time: If we attack their world before they attack ours, History can turn very differently. Follow me through this portal and help me to claim Draenor in the name of the Holy Light!

Adventurer! We need your help once again! Near Stormwind City, in mountains leading to Burning Steppes, unexpected earthquakes took place. Our scouts reported apperance of a giant hole, which is enlarging. They also said they heard whispers from it. We're not sure what that means, maybe that's true what they say, but maybe something made them crazy. But if so, we still need somebody to solve this problem. That person will of course get price. So?
Welcome to my custom adventure! I'll introduce it to you as best as I can, starting with my custom keyword - Whispers:
To explain how it works, I'll us in-game example: Corruption. So, let's assume that this card doesn't exist, and it's introduced in my adventure. With my new Keyword it will read: "Choose a minion. Whispers: Destroy it." (the only change is that this effect couldn't be removed with Silence). Also, Keyword is not the only new thing in my adventure. I also introduced a new race - Frogaen. They're big frogs moving on two legs, taller than dwarves, but shorter than humans. They're also smart enough to speak and build underground cities.
Dark Tunnels
Now, something to let you know what can you expect from this adventure.
Showcase cards:
Spider'n'Troubles:
I'm in trouble?
This works just like Discover, Choose One, Siamat or Zephrys the Great. You choose an effect, then that effect occurs.
First Boss: Terrifying Ooze
You expected that whispers will be stronger when you will enter a cave, but instead they began to be much more quiet. Soon, a cave splitted into smaller tunnels. You entered one, but suddenly a big ooze monster formed at front of you.
Deck:
Minions (16):
- Growing Ooze x2
- Acidic Swamp Ooze x2
- Echoing Ooze x2

Frogaen's Ooze:
Second Boss: Slithius, the Hungry
Just when you thought there's no life there, you saw a shape in the darkness coming to you fast. You draw a sword, but when it was closer, you saw a big frog running on two legs wich screamed: "Help me! It's Slithius!" After it, you saw a giant lizard.

Third Boss: Leonora Heartloss
After saving the frog, it decided to follow you. It introduced itself as Groag, and he told you about his race - Frogaen. He offered you a deal: He will lead you to his home, where you could gain help of other Frogaen, but you will protect him from dangers until that. And it looked like there were many dangers in these undergrounds. Soon after you fought a giant lizard, you met a banshee. When she saw you, you heard her voice: "Dougan? You're not my Dougan!". Then she started to scream.

twistertiger posted a message on Weekly Card Design Competition 10.12 - Discussion Topici really like the combanation to create a beast i could imagine seeing its probably on the weaker side as it costs quite a bit for 7/7 stats for 7 with most of those stats being 1/1 bodies but i love the flavor i think thats a good one for this competition.
i think your stand alone beast be pushed a little comparing it to Temple Berzerker which is similar but is effectively more stats but i think its a really good zombeast result!
i think the powerlevel of your custom beast could be pushed a tiny bit probably a 2/3 with that effect would be ok to print but if you are going to combine 2 underpowered beasts then that works great the combined beast is a solid card. to submit you need to say which card you combined, your custom beast (you dont need to make a card for this) and your custom zombeast.

The Chronomancer
"Hi, good to see you again ! Or have we not met yet ? I should introduce myself then: I'm Chromie, Ambassador of the Bronze Dragonflight ! I've noticed a lot of anomalies that require my attention in this... inn you call 'Hearthstone'. So I've come to help. Here, look what I can do !"
Fast Forward - Waiting is dumb... I wanna get to the good part now !
Sand Blast - If you think this isn't a big deal, just you wait for the next one. And the one after that !
Bronze Drake - He's not late, he's just early for next time.
"I'm told that to start off here I need a 'Basic Set'. Well, here it is !"
Bronze Drakonid and Sandstorm fulfill the second challenge.
Blessing of the Bronze, Bronze Drake and Protect the Timeways fulfill the third challenge as references to the Bronze Dragonflight and the Timewalkers.
"Also this guy had a whole speech prepared about 'saving all Time from certain doom', blah, blah, blah... We'll listen to that later, now is the time for fun !"
"Oh! Quick, before I forget: Future Me thinks I should tell you about my silly jokes and comments. You can find them here !"
Blessing of the Bronze - Time for a training montage !
Rewind - Sometimes I need to roll back just a little bit. Usually 'cause I wasn't paying attention the first time.
Time Turner - When the last grain of sand reaches the bottom, she's just gotta turn the whole thing over.
New Possibilities - When the future looks bad, just keep looking for a better one !
Protect the Timeways - “Your task is to protect the timeways in the absence of the Aspects. Do you accept this responsibility?” -Watcher Lara.
Bronze Drakonid - He always arrived right after the big moment.
Sandstorm - Oh no, someone messed up the flow of time, again !?
"Well, that's all for now folks ! I see I'm a little early here, I can't wait to see everyone else around. See you last- no, next time !"

Alright so after much consideration and debate, I've come to make a big thematic change to my entry. I'm no longer doing a Merchant class as this has already been done and I couldn't find a good match for my hero. I'm still keeping a lot of the design principles and cards ideas though. But to show you that, I need to do a REWIND!
Introducing : The Chronomancer !
The bronze dragon Chronormu, better known as the cheerful gnome Chromie, is a master of time magic ! With Borrowed Time and the Hourglasses it creates, the Chronomancer can manipulate the cost of cards to play them early and create devastating combos. The little guys can also come in handy when you want minions to buff.
The Chronomancer gets access to a new school of spells : Sand ! These spells are good at dealing with enemy minions and setting up combos.
With all that mana to spare, Chronomancers are looking to play big cards and play them fast. This is just the Basic set so you can expect a lot more crazy stuff later on !
Chronomancers also have minions to turn the tide of battle and reinforce their existing synergies. Dragons are likely to show up as Chromie's allies.
The Chronomancer is also a class with weapons but those aren't your typical axe or sword. Instead, they provide additional utility to the class.
Finally, here is a control tool for Chronomancers who want to play it slow.
I'm really happy with the set and can't wait to read what y'all think of it ! I'm still not sure about the cost of Accelerate, Sandstorm, and Time Trap but I decided to go with the cheaper option as a starting point. Cost manipulation is a thing for this class so maybe that was a horrible decision... Sandstorm in particular is hard because it's quite weak if you play it alone but can because a 5 Mana Twisting Nether pretty fast.
As far as keywords go, I'm debating wether I'll keep Stock (with a different name) of make a completely new one.
1
Let's do this ! Introducing : The Merchant ! (Yes, I know, done and done but I'd like to try my hand at a simple idea)
So, I'm doing a merchant class and the hero power was quite easy to figure out from there. Still, I want to get as much use for it as I can in my card design. For the hero, I'm not so sure. I know we're doing Warcraft-esque flavor this time around but I couldn't find a good merchant character. There's Gallywix but I don't think he fits super well for the class I envision and it's already been done in the past. I went with an original character but I'm still looking for a warcraftian character and I'm open to suggestions.
As you will have guessed, Coins are really important to the class. I wanted to explore as many synergy points as I could in conjunction with the hero power. I'm starting to think that I might have overdone it... Here I'm also not quite sure what qualifies for the 3rd challenge. Tailoring is a type of craft in WoW and Coin Toss is a boss ability from Gallywix. Is that enough ?
Since the class is taking a control turn and has access to mana acceleration with Coins, I wanted to encourage spending a lot to get huge swigs. A big upside of the class is its ability to reliably play these high-power cards a few turns before they should be available.
To finish the set, I wanted to give the class some draw potential and disruptions tools. Its also a weapon class and I want to expand on that synergy.
Tokens
The class keyword, which will not be used for Basic but that I'm quite fond of. Expect deck and hand manipulation in the future !
I know some of the cards in there might be a little over-the-top for Basic cards but I think the set is very cohesive as a whole and I'm really happy with the flavor. Feedback will be appreciated !
So what do y'all think ?
2
I see a burning city, a people in distress. I hear a prayer in vain, one last call to the Light. I see a broken champion, corrupted in his flesh. I hear the countless voices echoing through the night.
The world is changing now, the future comes to me: visions, dreams and nightmares, whispers lost in the wind. I cannot wait again, I cannot hold or flee. I heard the call and I will fight with the might of my mind !
Upgraded Hero Power
Nobundo is a Broken Draenei, a former Vindicator who lost his connection with the Light. After discovering the power of the elements, he became a Farseer and joined prophet Velen to guide the Draenei in their exodus to Azeroth. He joins Hearthstone as the Seer, a class that likes to slow things down and plan a few steps ahead of the opponent.
Exclusive keyword
Omen is the Seer's exclusive keyword. It gives the class ways to predict future draws, which synergizes with the class's hero power and brings new ways to play the game.
Showcase cards:
The Seer makes the most of its cards by drawing a lot and slowing games down. No need to rush things, the future will be here soon enough. But prophecy isn't an easy art. One must take their time to get a good look. This is why "end of turn" effects are core to this class's identity.
Basic set
Fleeting Image was made for the week one challenge of making a basic card with Rush, Lifesteal or Poisonous.
Flavor text
Blinding Vision - Asking a question is always a gamble. Sometimes you get the answer you want, sometimes you have to deal with the one you fear.
Channel - When I'm finished gathering all my power, you're going to be sorry.
Truesight - I SEE YOU NOW !
Expanded Mind - It's big brain time !
Impending Doom - Fate is like a boomerang: just when you think you've gotten rid of it, it comes back to smack you in the face !
Stellar Protection - Watching the night sky is always a soothing experience.
Fleeting Image - You are your own worse enemy. But the enemy of your enemy (that would be you) is your friend, right ?
Sharp Eclipser - Whenever I see magic, I can't help it, I have to shoot something.
Peaceful Hermit - Slow down, take a deep breath.
Behold - Peering into the future isn't the hard part, it's coming back to the present after seeing so much.
The Seer is a control class at heart, with powerful tools to generate card advantage. The Mystic set also provides proactive cards to close control games and set up powerful combos. Omen is introduced in this set and the class has many ways of benefiting from the knowledge it provides. Murlocs are also a common occurrence as they are one of the races most in tune with prophetic forces. And of course, the Seer wouldn't be complete without the Secrets it knows about the past, present, and future.
Mystic set
Weirdeye the Allseeing was made for the week two challenge of having a card that changes the hero power in some way, as well as the challenge of using an old keyword, but not in its keyword form (here Inspire).
Ner'zhul was made for the week three challenge of making a 7+ cost legendary minion if the one from the previous week cost 4-.
Flavor text
Confusing Times - Wait, why did I come in here again ?
Curse of Knowledge - Morlucs usually have a hard time learning quantum physics.
Future Past - No more past, no more future, only the present remains.
Gift of the Naaru - Sometimes you have to get hurt before the Light notices you need help.
Ominous Specter - Boo !
Cleansing Winds - Let the power of the elements ease your burden.
Novice Diviner - The first reading is free ! I'm actually a student still so I'm working for experience.
Prophecy - Once you know what's going to happen, you can nudge it just a little bit in the direction you want.
Weirdeye the All-Seeing - The thing with Murloc seers is that they have absolutely no concern for the boundaries of their powers.
Darklight Lurker - The depths will silence your magic.
Flash of Insight - It came to me in the middle of the night... Now I can't get back to sleep !
Lunar Sister - One was robed in silver's glow
Solar Sister - The other clad in golden flame
Alternate Reality - I like these cards, I'd just love to have more of them.
Spark of Life - Never gonna give you up.
Tol'vir Scryer - I see you and you will see me.
Angered Manes - People always wonder how much knowing the future can affect the present. Honestly, I think knowing the past is a lot more important.
Riptide Seer - Big wave goes wooosh !
Coven Witch - A coven is the only way to the most powerful sorcery: gossips.
Ner'zhul - I... have dreamed of you. I have had visions of death, and now you are here.
In Scholomance Academy, the Seer takes up the role of a teacher. Knowledge and wisdom, as well as the ability to control one's top deck card, empower the class to make the most out of the cards it already has and expand its horizons. Aggressive strategies become much more viable with the addition of low-cost minions. The Seer teams up with the Traveler, another finalist, with a set of unique control tools for both classes. Meanwhile, the Seer/Paladin combination is all about tempo and giving your little guys the courage to take on larger foes.
Scholomance Academy

Seer/Traveler
Overprotective Sphere, Playground Bullies, Crash Course and Algalon the Observer were made for the week three challenge of designing four dual-class cards in cooperation with a fellow finalist (here MvonTzeskagrad with the Traveler).
Flavor text
Mr. Bigglesworth - How did he get in here ?
Quiet Lecture - Shhhh ! I want to hear the pages turning.
Cryptic Studies - I know it's supposed to be secret wisdom, but did they really have to write it in Murloc ?
Detention! - Shame that we can only punish delinquents after they've harmed others. If only...
Educated Whelp - These financial lectures are starting to pay off !
Sudden Revelation - Nothing is quite as frustrating as reading a mind-shattering prophecy in a long-forgotten tome, only to find out that it has already been fulfilled.
Deep Researcher - It's not a "crazy conspiracy theory" if you can back it up with vague evidence !
Overprotection Sphere - Better safe than sorry.
Prepared Pupil - YOU ARE NOT PREP- oh wait actually you are extremely prepared !
Slow Learning - Doesn't matter that I don't understand it, I'll just write it down and reread it later.
Attention Split - They should put a disclaimer at the beginning of every magic textbook: DO NOT READ OUT LOUD WITH A WAND IN HAND !
Impatient Student - What they don't tell you about magic is that it take an excruciating amount of time to get a spell right.
Playground Bullies - Your horoscope says we're taking your lunch money.
Welcoming Classmate - Come in, I'll show you around.
Textbook Freak - I can't wait to get to the next page !
Coach Andrik - The thing about an even playing field is that it favors those who are best prepared.
Divination Major - Divination is so easy: you can just scry on all the tests ahead of time !
Crash Course - We don't have time for a full lecture, let me just show you what I mean by "Super Nova".
Algalon the Observer - Time travel cannot save you from the homework I am about to lay on you !
Special thanks
To the moderators, especially McF4rtson, for making this competition possible. It is a tremendous amount of work and, given the state of both this forum and the Hearthstone community online, they could have easily saved themselves the trouble. Great work, on this occasion and many others before.
To my fellow competitors, finalists or not. Everyone did their best and, no matter who wins in the end, that's the real victory. A tip of my hat to MvonTzeskagrad for the work we did together, it's always a pleasure to cooperate with a fellow designer.
To all the amazing freelancers and independent artists who make and share beautiful artworks for Hearthstone. Designing cards is fun, but it always feels much better when you find an image that makes it look like the real thing.
To all the people who took time to review cards in the Discussion threads. One person can only go so far, especially when it comes to designing nearly 50 unique cards in the span of 4 weeks. Life sometimes got in the way of my own participation but it was good talk nonetheless.
To everyone who voted for my entries in previous weeks, for obvious reasons.
To everyone who took the time to read this whole post. I am really proud of this class and hope you like it too.
To this forum, for all the good times I spend here. For welcoming me, taking a look at my weird ideas, helping me improve every step of the way.
With all my heart, thank you all.
As my final statement, I want to say that I am truly happy to have come so far in this competition. The CCC was what drove me into this community of custom card design and I have enjoyed it for a very long time. I recently left Hearthstone and don't intend to come back, so it was good for me to have this project for a game I can no longer love and a hobby that I may not be able to pursue in the future. I don't have the foresight (see what I did there ?) to say if these will be my last Hearthstone cards or if I'll ever come back to the game, but it brings me pride and closure to have this. It gives me hope for what's to come, whatever it may be.

Hey everyone ! I'm super hyped for this competition and have been brewing something for a few days now. Here is my first draft :
Introducing : The Seer ! This class is all about planning ahead, drawing cards and controlling the flow of the game. Glimpse is meant to open a lot of new synergies, with things like with Keli'dan, the Breaker as well as shuffling and hand size. I also want to introduce a few new ideas for card design in Hearthstone but I'm trying to keep it pretty tame for the basic set.
Card draw is a strength of this class so I wanted to start with a couple staples. I don't want to overdo it though, because of the hero power. They also both showcase the 'end of turn' theme of the class. To know the future, you must give up acting in the present.
This class is built toward a control playstyle and these cards are meant to help that. Not much to say about them, though I wanted to go beyond 'deal X damage' or 'restore X Health'.
I decided to use Silence as a core keyword for the class. In my opinion, it is pretty underutilized in Hearthstone and I see a lot of potential for it. Of course, it's really fun to play against which might explain the lack of cards printed with it but gameplay isn't really a concern here.
Finally, I gave the class combo tools to allow for a more proactive style of decks. It's a playstyle I personally love and it makes sense for a class that wants to consider its every move.
So what do you think ? Is there a card that feels out of place ? Did I make a big balance mistake ? Let me know !

I'm pretty sure everyone knows card packs are a gamble.
Loot boxes with cosmetics is one of the reasons I stopped playing Overwatch. The game just tries so hard to convice you that cosmetics are a reward. I see nothing wrong with games selling nothingness but at least don't shove it in my face.
Also I would be super upset if the base value of card packs dropped down for no good reason. Hearthstone has a robust cosmetic system, WoW, HoS and Owerwatch as well. "Rewarding" players of one game with cosmetics of another makes no sense. If I wanted cosmetics from a game, I would at the very least play that game.
