New batch of Hero Powers ! This new Demon Hunter class really inspired me. I hope you like them and would love feedback. As always, I'm aware that only 20 to 30% of them are good, that's why I make so many at once.
Hey everyone ! I'm sure you're all excited for the new Demon Hunter hero coming to the game. Or course, being the Hero Power enthusiast that I am, I loved the new one we are getting. I think it brings a lot of novelty and design space that I would like to explore. That being said, I want to break it down a bit first.
So this new Hero Power will give your Hero +1 Attack this turn for 1 mana. Obviously it's a big change to the status quo because all basic Hero Powers were 2 mana until now. I think this is a great new addition that opens up the possibility of designing 1 mana Hero Powers. This one in particular is great because give your Hero the ability to attack is a big deal and enables synergies. I think that's what I'll go for in my designs.
"In the deepest forest lays a grove of emerald, a flourishing domain of ethereal peace. But the place has been cast in a gloomy slumber and there's no comming back for those who fall asleep. Hurry adventurers before the land despairs ! Come to follow your dreams and face your worse nightmares !"
This adventure is inspired by the Emerald Dream and Emerald Nightmare, as well as the events of the War Against the Nightmare. It will feature a new keyword : Phantasm which lets you add an extra copy of the card to your deck. Players would be given 3 copies of common/rare/epic cards with Phantasm and 2 copies of legendary cards with the keyword. The number of cards in a deck would still be 30 as Phantasm would only affect the number of copies of a card that can be added to a deck.
The Dream Cards from Ysera will also be featured in this adventure.
Wing 1: The Dreamgrove
Broll Bearmantle greets you in what used to be a verdant realm but has now been covered in a dense fog and cursed with slumber from which none can wake up. The worst part is that the sleepers are tourmented by horrible nightmares that leave them screaming in fear !
As you step deeper into the forest, you find yourself surrounded by broken trees and the shadows of dangerous beasts. It seems like the corruption of the land has taken hold on nature itself.
Comming out from the shadows are the ones who pull the strings. The mist, the nightmares, it's all their fault ! But are they the real master minds or just agents sent here by a more powerful evil ?
While the Adventurers were busy fighting the groove's curse, Broll Beramantle went to ask for help from the protectors the Emerald Dragonflight. Instead, he found the Emerald Dream corrupted and the Dragons tried to eat him !
Now this is the real deal : the Emerald Dream has been taken over by the madness of the Nightmare ! The satyr master of this place, Lord Xavius, welcomes you to he's land. He's been waiting for you...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but won't Mind Twister in Warlock just target always your hero? He's theoretically the only possible target. Still love the card though.
yeah I had to add the parenthesis for the Hero Powers that have a target but for some it's useless.
Thanks a lot for the feedback ! Quick update before I get the decklists done. I noticed that everyone liked (or was ok with) the bosses and most of the cards with 3 exceptions :
Reccurring Nightmare : I agree, the text is too long and thanks to my friend Yogg-Saron, I found a better wording.
Nightmare Golem : Sure, neutral demons aren't the best but there is Nightmare Amalgam. Also I like the card as it is and I'm fine with it's low competitive potential. And there is a friend coming up...
Mind Twister : What a well named card ! I had the art and idea of a low cost demon for this one since phase 1 but I had to change it many times because my idea were a bit to crazy. While I like the version I showed you, I think I came up with a better one. The effect is a bit hard to balance tho... See for yourself.
I think it balances out, espacially since many Hero Powers counter each other. And of course it's best in Warlock. It's also 3 Mana...
Tell me what you think and stay tuned for the decklists !
Fel Horde seems very powerful. It can easily be a 4 mana 6/6 in stats with Taunt with only both heroes injured, which is better than Saronite Chaingang... And then it scales up pretty fast. The current meta has a few agressive Warriors (sometimes with Galakrond) that could make a lot out of this card. Also Control Warrior would end any aggro deck with this. I'd say either up the cost, lower the stats or make the condition more restrictive (maybe only damaged minions).
Fel Blademaster is as fun as it is terrible. You'd only play him with an empty board but the it's Flame Imp on steroïdes. I think the biggest problem is Divine Spirit. Shame because this effect could lift up an Egg archetype...
Lost Netherwolf I'm not sure I understand. Is it "Inspire: Deal 2 damage to both Heroes." ? I don't really see what else it could be but as you phrased it's not clear at all. My first though was that if it's extra damage then it is on top of the damage it deal but then Hunter's hero power only deals damage to one hero so I went "whut?". If it's what I think it's also terribly broken because face Hunter is both powerful and frustrating to deal with and this is just to much of an upgrade for it. The recoil damage is not a problem except maybe in aggro matchups but Hunter can race pretty efficiently.
Dire Fel Orc is ok but again it's a frustrating card to face because it empowers aggro and midrange in the most brutal and boring way : more damage quicker.
Stoicism is cool
Mannoroth is the kind of last effort defensive card that's really interesting but 10 Mana is to much for that. Not only would you be dead against most aggro deck before you could play him, most Tempos would love to dump a bunch of stats kill him, leaving you unable to clear. I think you either need to change the design or accept that it would never see play, which is fine since it's thematic, but still you might not want that.
Bosses :
Grommash Hellscream needs a toolbox that explain what gaining permanent Attck means. Does he keep it on your turn ? Beyond that, it should be a fun encouter as long as the player make a defensive enough deck.
Gara I'm not sure about. I'd have to see the deck. My main concern is that it's very easy to burn with decks like face Hunter or freeze Mage. The thing is, if it's one of these deck as well, the best strategy might just be to race it with face damage and that's basically a coin flip determined by early draws.
Mannoroth is fun ! I love the fact that you used a card from Battlegrounds and it makes a lot of sense here so well done !
Lord Garithos is great in terms of flavor and bringing your adventure full-cercle. His hero power seems balanced and interesting to play against
@whatTheHeck
Cards :
Impatient Guard has great flavor and seems balanced to me, if a bit weak. Maybe a couple Health points ?
Resourceful Naga is fine I guess. I'm not sure Secret MAge would play it but maybe Highlander ?
Sea Horror is cool. I like the flavor and it's a good use of your keyword.
Resourceful Faceless is interesting. I like the 5 mana option better eventhough it's similar to Faceless Corrupter.
Defias Squallshaper is fine. I don't like this kind of "straight to face" aggro card but that's just my taste.
Corruption Fighter seems strong. I think I would only give it Attack.
Azshara the Mind Raider is ok but I like Azshara the Schemer better. The flavor is on point and she shares some similarities with N'zoth so that's cool.
Bosses :
Abyssal Commander Sivara has a cool hero Power. I'd give her an Egg Zoolock to be able to use both sides of her HP.
Ozumat is good, not much to say.
Lord Slithin seems like a fun fight and the twist with Vanessa VanCleef is cool but Cookie seems frustrating to face.
Queen Azshara is a great final fight ! I love the idea of beating her with one of the Pirates. I hope you find the time to make all those decks. The Boss' second HP seems a bit weak tho...
Okay let's do this ! Here are my ideas for phase 5. I'll try to include dialogue boxes in my final thread to bring the whole adventure alive but for know I'm more interested in the design.
Emerald Dreams and Nightmares

Hope you enjoy this wing as much as the previous ones. Please tell me what you think and to my fellow contestants : good luck on this last phase !
Just a heads-up, I'm shortening the final phase a little bit (ends on the 14th). I will then extend if necessary at that point in time.
I believe we should get the same amount of time this round, if not more. After all, we have the most amount of work so far: 4 bosses + make the thread (which will usually have the previous wings in most cases)
Well you're not wrong but we've had a lot of additional time in previous phases which means that the schedule has drifted from what was planned. Plus, last phase and the phase before, most people posted close to the last minute and interest seems to have dropped off so it makes sense to wrap things up. I've got more time this week so I'll review other contestants work in this thead to make the process easier hopefully.

While the Adventurers were busy fighting the groove's curse, Broll Beramantle went to ask for help from the protectors the Emerald Dragonflight. Instead, he found the Emerald Dream corrupted and the Dragons tried to eat him !
Hey everyone ! Before I get to Wing 4 (which will be a good one imo), I need to talk about something I messed up. You see, I already made 2 Hunter cards (Shade Chaser in wing 1 and Snuffed Light in wing 3) but I forgot to make one of them a class challenge ! To correct this, I'd like to switch the two rewards of my boss 1 of wing 3 (The Crow) so that Paranoïa (the Paladin secret) is the completion reward and Snuffed Light is the reward of the Hunter class challenge. Thus the Paladin class challenge will be this phase.
So let's get to it ! This wing wasn't teased, unlike previous ones, because I wanted to keep it kinda secret. You see, while the adventurers were busy fighting in the last wing, Broll Bearmantle went to the Emerald Dream to ask for the Emerald dragonflight's help in this time of need. What he found tho, was that the Dream had been corrupted from the inside. The Nightmare Dragonflight is now the threat adventurers will have to deal with !
