posted a message on Moar Meet Invitational

As Hearthstone players from around the world await the final cards of Blackrock Mountain, 32 card slingers prepare for a showdown of epic proportions. The Moar Meet Invitational will take place Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 2100 CEST, and it will be broadcast on the Moar Hearthstone Twitch stream, Twitch.tv/moarhearthstone for the duration of the event. 16 players were invited, and 16 more players qualified over the past two weeks in two separate qualifying tournaments.

The Moar Meet Invitational will be a Best of Five tournament of the Conquest format, where the players will submit three decks prior to playing a single match. Once a player wins a match, the deck they won with is then eliminated, and they must earn wins with both of their remaining decks in order to move on. The losing player may stay with the same deck or switch to another. A player must win with each of his three submitted decks in order to move on.

The list of invited players are as followed: GreenSheep, Blackout, Raven, Flying Whale, FallenRemote, Sottle, RarestSolanum, Kaldi, Jonpi, Inderen, Crane333, Colma, Hoej, Brodos, Aquablad and Spark. These players range from 2014 Blizzcon qualifiers to top 5 EU Legend players to top 5 global rankings on GosuGamers. The invited players must still watch their backs, as some of the qualified players have a fine list of accomplishments on their own.

The qualified players will look to knock out the invited players with every opportunity. The qualified players are as followed: Jumph, Dannier, NickChipper, Sidi, GenjiSpeed, GosuForever, Xin, Shoop, Seviluminati, Pesty, Exploding Cow, RobinWho, Haslr, JamesHugs, Maraiki and Theude. These players also have a list of accomplishments from high placements (and even winning) major LAN tournaments to extremely high rank EU Legends.

What are these players fighting over? The winner of the Moar Meet Invitational will walk away with 100 Euro, paid for by the Moar Facebook group and E1337 Gaming. The Moar Facebook group can be found at Facebook.com/groups/firesidegatherings/ and is full of many of the players (both invited and qualified) for the Moar Meet Invitational. E1337 Gaming is the home of almost every relevant eSports game tournaments, including Call of Duty, Halo, League of Legends, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, Smite, Heroes of the Storm and more.

Moar Hearthstone will be streaming the tournament on Twitch. There will be six matches streamed, including both semifinals and the finals of the event. American radio personalities Keith “@Keiththeg33k” DePalma and Will “@AniasWB” Boyle have been hired to cast the event. Stefano “@DeadFaithHS” Sisovic is the tournament organizer, and Jonathan “@JottoHS” Stevenson has ran player relations for the tournament. Stay tuned to @Keiththeg33k on Twitter for more breaking news.

posted a message on the "new" 9/4 priest?

I  enjoyed Hunter up until the nerf occuredd, and then I switched to the Kibler-Deathrattle Priest (no Thought Steals - add Ysera and Mind Control) and it works great. Only real bad matchup is against Handlock, and if you see a lot of handlock, take out Sylvannas and one or two cards you aren't fond of (preferable not Deathrattles) and add two Shadow Word: Death and a Silence. These changes give you a much better chance agaisnt Handlock. Also, adding The Black Knight works well too, as they almost always taunt up a giant.

posted a message on Drops chances rarity, by 11359 hearthstone expert packs
    Quote from love_pho »

I once pulled a Golden Onyxia and a Golden Gorehowl from the same pack with some other rare (that didn't seem important to me at the time) as well. ( I DE'd the Golden Onyxia for a Leeroy, and still have the Gold Gorehowl.)    Can someone calculate what percentage chance that was?  I'm thinking that will never happen again.  (on a happy note, I let my Four Year Old, click those cards open for me...she was so happy about how excited I got.)

My seven-year-old actually plays with me frequently. He has learned my card pack opening ritual, which starts in the top-right, and then bottom-left, top, bottom-right and top-left. At first, we just hover over the cards, then we click on the common ones first, then increase in rarity. It is fun to watch him open his own packs on the iPad the same way. He got his first legendary (probably about 25 packs in) and it was Malygos. On a side note, he is already level 18 this season and is currently on a win streak lol. It's amazing how even a seven-year-old can grasp the concepts of the game and do well in the higher ranks.

Please do. I changed it to more of a face Hunter, and I climbed to 3 and at 4 stars at four now. I am willing to try anything. I don't run any of the cards yout mentioned. I don't even run buzzard/unleash. The undertaker/leper has been way more effective in the mirror (12-2) and is over .500 against Warrior. Haven't played a single priest with it yet though. Warrior, I am 50/50. Considering I am seeing mostly Hunters and then Warriors, I would rather find something that I can win over 70 against both with, but my amazing percentage in the mirror gives me hope.

    Hi

I have been floating in the top 100 legend rank all month on EU playing hunter almost exclusively. Firstly, I would never suggest changing decks on the fly during losing streaks between 5-legend as this is basically an emotional reaction to losing. Odds are you are playing your best deck (hunter) and swopping to something you think you should be playing (I do this with priest and drop games), decreasing your effective skill level and hampering your climb. There is still time to make legend, I ran from 5-legend in 120 odd games early August, so it is totally doable.

With respect to warriors: I don't know your specific deck (so I'll make some assumptions here) but mulligan for SH, Houndmaster and Animal companion. Buzzard/unleash is a play with 2 minions on the board as you will rarely see more. You absolutely have to run Leeroy for the extra reach, and try to keep and unleash in hand to add some dmg to the combo (add timber here instead of your miracle play if you have the option). I always sack Loatheb to a Death's Bite with one durability, else it gets sacked on a Highmane which is not ideal, as it needs to absorb opponent removals. Use spells to clear the board before popping down your high value minions (shed a tear and kill command those Belchers). Also, you may want to add a kodo to the deck (Acolyte is main target here over armoursmith) and drop whatever tech cards you run (I run Snapjaw for the mirror, kodo for warrior matchups). Finally look for value in your plays as you will not be drawing a full hand here. Don't feed turn 1/2 armorsmiths with webspinners, rather HP and shoot for Hogger on turn 3 for a clear removal. Try and play your SH around shieldslams, as your main winning condition is outlasting their efficient removals. I also find it worthwhile to huntersmark their Smiths/Acolytes and remove it if I have a good hand with strong curve plays.

I hope this helps and GL on your last minute grind.

Brainstorm, this is the deck list I have been using. I currently don't run any Timber's in my deck. What should I change around to fit it in? I am brand new to card games, as Hearthstone is the first one I have really played, so I am still learning a lot about the mechanics. The biggest problem I believe I have, is either trying to get full value out of cards (even when allowing it to lose value may be the better play) and trying to decide when to trade and when to go for face. I find it difficult to trade my 4/3 Houndmaster, for their 3/1 Scarlet Crusader (just an example). I feel like they are getting better value, so I will go for face and they will trade it with my Houndmaster next turn. Next thing I know, they use an AOE and I am left with an empty board while their SC is still swinging strong,

Thanks again for the help. I know you are experienced and your words (along with everyone else on this thread) will help me get over this hump.

I've heard this 25-to-5 equals 5-to-legend thesis a lot, bit it wasnt true for me (maybe I was just lucky)

I went pretty fast to rank 4-5 playing shaman (at the start of the season, faced mainly druid and hand/zoo), but then struggeled a lot, bouncing between 7 and 3 when hunters became popular. One day, I learned how to play against hunter and I got from 4 to legend in a crazy 25 - 6 winning spree because I faced almost only hunter which I almost always won.

Maybe I was only lucky, but I think the real challenge was to understand how the meta is in this very moment, since it shifts every 2-3 days. Track your game statistics, if you see, you face a lot of one class (>30% of the games) then modify your deck, so you win vs this deck.

If you win all this 30% and go even in the other 70%, then you have a total 65% win-lose ratio, which will bring you to legend in xxx games (insert math here)

    cheers

What deck were you using to beat hunters?  I modified mine more to a face hunter (since that is the Hunter that kept beating me in the mirror) and I still lost to them. Hunter is the only class I am under 50% against. If you could link me to the deck you used, I would really appreciate it. I don't have a problem taking out Warrior or Priest,  just hunter lol

My win rate getting to rank 5 with the Hunter was around 73, and it is sitting around 68 now. I keep changing decks when I keep running into the mirror, and I always questions into something else. Should I just stick with the deck and grind through the sub-70% win rate to legend?

Either you're lying about your win rate or you play only 2 games a day. With a 68% winrate you should be legend in less than 80 games.

My win rate with the same deck stays there, but whenever I do tank a few games, I change decks and my win rate with those decks plummets. My win rate since I have been at rank 5 has been just over 50, but it's still at 68 for that deck. Should I just keep grinding that deck, even if it starts losing a bit in the mirror?
