So this is purely a hypothesis, but I'm seeing some commonalities in who is and isn't facing bots in this thread.

I've done the full Legend climb for the last four months and I have only clocked maybe one or two bots this whole time. Lately I've been playing most days, at least enough to complete the daily quests, mostly because we've had a lot of events with event quests back to back and you only have one slot for those dailies. Sometimes I let my quests accumulate for three days. I've also been grinding out 500 wins on DK so I've been making an effort to get 5 wins a day when I do play.

Hitting Legend each season means I start each season with a 10x star bonus, which quickly turns into a 20x/18x/16x star bonus due to win streaks as I progress. That allows me to leapfrog to Diamond within a relatively short span. In other words, I usually only spend a few days in the Gold-Platinum range. Diamond 5, where the win streak bonuses stop, is where things get difficult. I definitely don't think I saw any bots in that range. I spent the last five days or so seesawing back and forth between Diamond 3 and Diamond 1 before finally getting the win streak I needed to breach Legend, and most of those games were hard fought.

All this to say, I think what's happening is:

The consistent Diamond/Legend players are able to fairly easily climb beyond the metal ranks due to bonus stars and hidden MMR and so mainly wind up facing each other.

Bots wind up getting hard stuck in the metal ranks--Gold 5, Plat 10, etc.--and so players who don't climb as consistently, have fewer bonus stars, lower MMR, or who also get hard stuck in metal ranks also wind up accumulating in the same areas where the bots accumulate, and so wind up facing them more frequently.

Sargeras needs to be played from hand to get the battlecry that gives you the portal. Without the portal his abilities don't work.

Am I the only one who hasn't seemed to face bots at all? I ran into one guy running a basic starter deck when I was around Gold. Everyone else I've played (hit Legend about five days ago) has been using a meta deck, mostly warrior, paladin, and DK, and none of them seemed to show signs of being a bot.

Garden's Grace should cost (1) less for each Holy spell you've played, not mana you've spent on Holy spells. If you get two copies of it the second one you play is always guaranteed to be free.

At this rate I don't think we've got much hope of Paladin seeing any significant decrease in power until rotation.

Looks like we're going to see Paladin drop from a 56% overall winrate to a 55% winrate with this dramatic decrease in burst potential from this 3 mana, 3 card combo that lets you give any minion you stick on the board +10/+10, windfury, divine shield... down to +8/+8 windfury, divine shield.

That's 4 less damage, guys! Huuuuge nerf!

No, but seriously. Paladin has been a T1 deck for, what? The last 14 months? More? It was the strongest deck before the mini-set and only got stronger after it. We've currently got four classes with sub-45% win ratios, three classes at 50%~47%, two classes at 53%, and Paladin sitting up at 56%, where it's been for the entirety of Badlands.

Fucking buff some of the underperforming classes, at least. Christ.

Paladin and Druid are really degenerate right now. Rogue can also snowball super hard in the early game in ways that offer basically no counterplay.

These decks can just vomit an ungodly amount of stats on the board by turn 5 or 6 and there's no consistent way to deal with it. Paladin being the worst offender.

And it's pretty much all anyone is playing at legend, at least.
