Yeah, the young Illidan and Malfurion illustrations by Alex Horley are really nice callbacks to the cover of the War of the Ancients omnibus illustrated by Glenn Rane. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/X8gdy

I hope they get added as alternate hero portraits at some point, unlikely though it may be. Or at the very least I hope we get to see the full art...

Did you do it when it was new content, or only later when you overleveled it? At the time of release it was arguably one of the most challenging pieces of content in the game, awarding a major cosmetic and feat of strength title that is no longer available.

I think it left a strong impression on people and was in fact probably an impetus for Artifact Weapons, Order Halls, and Mage Tower challenges in Legion.

At the very least he's a solid candidate for a Warlock legendary, considering how few notable named Warlocks there actually are in Warcraft outside of the leaders of the Burning Legion.

posted a message on What the F Blizzard? They changed Illidan.

I don't think you can argue that this is a nerf. At most the change is neutral. "After" is not strictly worse wording, and is situationally better. The summoned 2/1s are also demons, which gives them tribal synergy.

That said, since a big part of card games is the art, and golden cards specifically exist to put a premium cost on enhanced artwork, I don't think a full dust refund for changed art is an unreasonable request at all. Regardless of whether the card is good or bad, if a player crafts it because they like the art or featured character, it would at least be a nice courtesy for Blizzard to offer the same dust refund in the rare case that it is changed.

Now, does that argument holds any water regarding the game's ToS? Probably not. Even giving full refunds for nerfed cards is probably a courtesy they aren't obligated to do, since I'm sure their ToS specifies you don't own the cards and they can be changed without notice. So I doubt you will have much luck pursuing a refund.

Kanrethad is essentially a superboss that all warlocks have to challenge and defeat solo in order to unlock the green felfire cosmetic for their spells, and is the former leader of the warlock class order. He has amplified versions of all the warlock player abilities, simultaneously using abilities from all three specializations (affliction, destruction, demonology).

He is one of the most powerful warlocks in the lore. Frankly this card doesn't even do him justice.

posted a message on New Demon Hunter Legendary Card Revealed - Altruis the Outcast

It seems okay. Honestly reminds me a bit of Bloodmage Thalnos. Something you can use to add a couple extra damage to AoE to help clear a board you perhaps normally couldn't otherwise. More expensive so less flexible, but it synergizes well with actual Outcast cards which are quite powerful and often can be discounted. Also loses the card cycle, but you get a minion that can potentially trade better.

I'm not terribly impressed, but it's a one-of anyway. Might be situationally better than other 3 drops.

No, summon minion effects only trigger if there is board space. If your enemy doesn't have room it will fail to summon three wardens and there will be no way to activate its effect it.

It's a cool idea, but with 6 mana cost and 5 health it's pretty susceptible to AoE.

Very strong in fatigue situations though, after your opponent has expended resources, if you can push the game that far. Maybe secrets and other things will help rogue play a more controlling gameplan.

posted a message on New Demon Hunter Rare Card Revealed - Imprisoned Antaen

Demon Hunter doesn't necessarily give away the turn they play this because they have swarmy early minions, cheap weapons, and ways to both deal minion damage for 0 mana and ways to discount cards.

Don't underestimate DH tempo generation, remember that this is a new class. You can't think just of this like a rogue daggering up. DH can have very explosive starts off of just one or two cards. Think of old school tempo mage in the days of unnerfed mana wyrm and flamewaker.

That's a bit silly. Demon Hunter has very explosive early turns and a lot of cheap ways to control the board with weapons and cards like Twin Slice, Eye Beam, and Illidari Felblade.

Also keep in mind that this can be discounted with Skull of Gul'dan or Raging Felscreamer.

Aldrachi Warblades on 3, Raging Felscreamer on 4, Imprisoned Antaen + Twin Slice + Blade Dance on 5. Stuff like that is totally possible. You can definitely find moments to weave it in, and it forces them to think hard about developing a board.

They said they plan to introduce new cards to support handlock after mountain giant rotates because they still want the archetype around. Just a matter of seeing if they make the new handlock cards good enough.

Depends on what set / legendaries are available, but there are a lot of legendaries that are high cost build arounds, or just bad cards that aren't impactful for the cost, and Rafaam alone barely impacts the board.

With this costing only 1 mana and most demons being solid when you add +2/+2 to them, my gut tells me this is preferable on average, though less likely to result in the kind of highroll blowout the right random legendaries could give you.

How many demons are there in standard that are bad with +2/+2? For a zoo deck refilling their hand with upgraded threats in mid-to-lategame, i think this will be solid. Zoo already often ran Rafaam in the past and I'd guess that random legendaries are typically way worse than random demons with +2/+2. This is also more consistently drawable, and it only costs 1 mana so you have a solid chance of building a decent board on the same turn.
