xskarma posted a message on Update on Weekly Quests - Quests Will be Easier to CompletePosted in: NewsI have to preface this by saying I'm having a dental issue and am more salty than usual.
But yes. This feels like the exact same thing they pulled when they first introduced this system of xp vs actual gold. The outrage back then was very similar, and it followed this exact same playbook.
They knew this would be unpopular, and deliberately set it up so that they'd have room to walk it back while still getting what they wanted.
"We had seen that many players routinely completed their Weekly Quests through their regular play, without even really engaging with the Weekly Quest system." <--- corporate speak horseshit.
Nobody wants to "engage with the quest system". We just want to play and have fun. The quest system is there as a necessary evil, as the only way to progress the bar that Blizz forced upon us with the Battlepass. Nobody wants to do quests. No one. We all just want the packs and the cosmetics we paid for. The choice to deliver this content to us through a quest system is a design choice by Blizzard, not the players. We'd be perfectly fine getting our stuff in a way that allows us to play the game in the way WE find fun instead. But no we are instead being forced to "engage with the quest system".
Show me ONE person who would rather play Hearthstone through the quest system than through just playing what they feel like instead, and I'll show you a god damn liar. No one likes chores, which is all the Quest system is. Show me the person who felt playing Miniatures or Titans or Excavate cards was super fun and engaging content, and not just a dull chore that you got out of the way either building a specific deck to minimize the annoyance or by not engaging with it at all and just playing the game and seeing it complete automatically.
But apparently that last way is not "engaging with the quest system" enough, so it needed to be changed, cause god forbid the quests can be done by simply ignoring them and playing what we want.
Anyway, enough salt from me. I'm going to grab some paracetamol and try to think happy thoughts.

Now we just need to see where they land and how far they feel they can push things while still making us spend more time playing for comparatively less rewards.
I'm not buying it this time. Seen this play one too many times.

NewBorn posted a message on Hearthstone Quest Update - Big Increase in Requirements and Lower Increase in RewardsPosted in: NewsYeah, I have been playing for 10 years now. I do not consider myself a whale, but I am far from F2P. I have pre-ordered almost every expansion and my collection Achievements show me at 92%. I am in a position that I do not really have time to play games, but can spend money instead of time. There is no issue with me paying money to support a game I enjoy.
The first rewards track was not good, but I have really enjoyed it after the second pass. The improvements to the rewards system and duplicate protection caused me to play the game more and spend more money. While I am not the most active player, I think I have only missed completing a few daily and weekly quest since they were introduced. Sometimes my weeks are busy and I am stressing about completing all my weekly quests late on Sunday nights. It is especially hard when the Meta makes the decks I want to play hard to win with.
I just do not have the time to "Win 15 games of Ranked" every week or any of the other crazy requirements. This is one of the few times I have seriously thought, "Do I just stop here since there is no way I will finish 37 more levels to finish the reward track?" (Normally finish between 150 and 200)

The 2 Battlegrounds 10th anniversary rewards are... well...
I'm sorry, but... was it really that difficult to create a brand new BG Bartender and Strike for the 10th anniversary?!
Or for fuck's sake, at least give out 2 extra packs instead of this garbage, that quite a few people already own.
