Just go Arena and never look back. Grinding through torture all month just to be rewarded with a 400 dust golden epic? No thanks, I'll take my 3 packs/120 dust per day + gold/cards.
Is Xaril worth crafting guys? I love playing Rogue,so I wonder if he would help me improving decks from this class in general.
Decent in Miracle Rogue (for the poisons), less useful (but just as fun) in everything else. I think Thalnos is regarded as better for Rogue if you're looking for a legendary though. Or perhaps Edwin.
I likely won't be posting much here anymore - I've found consistent success in Arena and for whatever reason, losses there don't set me off. I've decided to pretty much quit playing ranked, since the Arena rewards are better and more frequent, and I have no reason to play ranked anymore.
It's funny how I always see people posting on forums about how much more fun and diverse wild is, and some even talking about how it's ''harder''. Meanwhile Thijs lost to a wild rank 3 aggro paladin who played like an absolute retard.
God I swear if standard hadn't come along I would've quit.
You mean a skilled player with a non aggro deck isn't guaranteed to win a game?
Well, now that I think about it, with certain types of randomness I tend to agree with BB, that luck and skill aren't necessarily in direct opposition. Let's say for example you constructed a deck where every card had some random element attached to it. If you gave that deck to a brand new player, and the exact same deck to a legend player, and they played each other....surely the legend player would win a majority of the games (rather than both sides winning roughly half), right?
I thought this was really well done, well formatted, and easy to follow along with. I agree with you on all your points, and specifically about how luck and skill are in direct opposition.
That said, I think certain types of luck are healthy for the game and are what keeps it fun and interesting for new players (let's look at chess [the game of nearly 100% skill]....not very easy or fun to break into as a new player, unless you're willing to commit loads of hours studying the game). Flamewaker/Knife Juggler/Flame Juggler are examples of bad randomness (by contrast I think Ragnaros is fine, since the effect of 8 damage to a single target is offset by 'can't attack' and the late game nature), whereas cards like Sylvanas, Shredder, and Mounted Raptor are good randomness (Shredder's cost/stats are up for debate though), because as you said, you as a player can strategize and plan around them, and sometimes they have that "wow, cool!" factor.
Maybe the key is that randomness should not be able to negate ALL prior turns' actions and strategy, or immediately flip the tempo without paying some cost. (pre nerf) Yogg can outright win you an otherwise lost game, Flamewaker can destroy a board you've built up to that point, (pre nerf) Tuskarr can decide the game on the spot, and Fiery Bat can trade into a 2-drop 2/3 and immediately steal the tempo, for 1 mana.

Play some arena! Every game is different.

You get way better rewards in Arena, and more frequently. That is, if you're not garbage at the game.

I am 100% convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that ladder is purely luck.

What's it like to have an average amount of luck? Must be pretty sweet.

excellent news! i figured out what im doing wrong.
playing beyond turn 6.
from here on out, im conceding all games that go beyond turn 6 - its obviously my fault and i deserve to lose.

I struggle against Priest with my Thief Rogue deck. Also, Priest is quite good in Wild.

Arena, queue into Mage as Paladin. My opening hand is nothing but 4 and 5 drops.
Not only does he have Dr Boom on turn 7, but has Faceless Manipulator for my 7/7 Silent Knight which was how I dealt with Boom.
I won that game.

why is it that when running a combo deck, the combo is the last cards in the deck, most of the time?

but....yogg is still a good card.
