bblader1 posted a message on Baku & Genn Are Getting Nerfed?Posted in: General Discussion"Tbh I jus think the only ones that are a little bit out of control are Odd Warrior and Odd Paladin"
Honestly, a vast majority of the community would agree with you on this one, and I'd say I'm one of them. Odd Mage is a good deck but it's extremely beatable (especially if they don't run Zola or Jaina for the lategame) I would argue Odd Rogue isn't even good anymore after the Cold Blood nerf (and it'll be even LESS good once their Flappy Bird and Fungalmancer bites the dust) It's even debatable how good Odd Warrior really is because there's so many OTK combo decks it's bad against. And while it's probably not ideal spot for it to have great matchups against basically everything besides combo and getting mostly run over by combo, at least it's a deck that has weaknesses and counterplay.
Frankly, I'm a bit skeptical on a 2/2 "nerf", because while yes, odd Paladin does have synergies with bigger boards and thus the extra token is more valuable, a 2/2 is also quite a bit harder to remove earlygame, and with this change Odd Pally can spit out quite a few semi-relevant 2/2 tokens for free without playing cards, and that's a world that kind of concerns me. I'd strongly argue to make either a 2/1 or a 1/2 rather than a 2/2, because a paladin that can make all these 2/2 tokens on potentially turn 1 (with coin), 2, and then 3 without having played a single card really worries me, at that point you can probably just cut all the 1 drops from the deck just because that hero power is so dumb now.
But that's what playtesting is for.
But anyway, that's another overgeneralization that does bother me, that Baku itself is a stupid OP card... Baku is honestly only making two specific decks in the meta TRULY over the top and meta defining whilst making another one (with some control and aggro variants) viable and another one... tier 4 or so.
Blame those two select decks, not Baku in and of itself. Changes can easily be made. -

Old_Guardian posted a message on Help a noob out?Posted in: General Deck BuildingThis is the best Even Paladin I can think of from your collection. It could be improved even with simple common cards (2xHydrologist, 1xArgent Protector, 2xBonemare), not to mention rare cards (2xSpikeridged Steed, 1xArgent Commander), but it might get something done.
In general, Even Paladin can be built without any other Legendaries than Genn and generally without Epics too, although Corpsetakers are quite good.

Rang_Dipkin posted a message on Help a noob out?Posted in: General Deck BuildingWelcome back JustAnEye!
In the spirit of taking a stab at a fun (i.e. Casual) deck that used a lot of your legendary cards, I ended up with this nightmare amalgam (that doesn't include Nightmare Amalgam):
Just An Even Pally Even Paladin Deck by Rang_Dipkin - Feb 15, 2019Minion (19) - 1x Da Undatakah
- 1x Deathwing
- 1x Genn Greymane
- 1x Immortal Prelate
- 1x Omega Defender
- 1x Acidic Swamp Ooze
- 1x Belligerent Gnome
- 1x Zandalari Templar
- 1x Cult Master
- 1x Spellbreaker
- 1x Argent Protector
- 2x Dark Iron Dwarf
- 2x Dire Wolf Alpha
- 1x Loot Hoarder
- 1x Sen'jin Shieldmasta
- 2x Novice Engineer
Ability (9) - 2x Blessing of Kings
- 2x Consecration
- 2x Flash of Light
- 2x Hammer of Wrath
- 1x Sound the Bells!
Weapon (2) Loading Collection It's a combination of Even Pally for the early game/aggro match-ups and then Immortal Prelate Pally for the late-game/control match-ups. We don't have all the essential cards for those decks so I tried to piece things together using fun stuff from your collection. However, I don't typically play a lot of Pally so I'm sure this deck could be improved by people who actually run those builds.
Basic strategy is to Hero Power whenever you can and fight for the board early-on. If you gain control, by all means start buffing your Silver Hand Recruits and go face. However, there's also a ton of card draw in the deck to get to your main goal/engine of fun - Immortal Prelate. The card draw is there because we only have 1 Prelate and we don't have Crystology. Your goal is to get Prelate killed (by your own Hammer of Wrath if need be) so that when you play Da Undatakah later it inherits Prelate's deathrattle and gets shuffled back into your deck for repeated fun :D
Mulligan: You're going to be going all out in your search for Immortal Prelate! However, if you're playing a class where you're really nervous about aggro (e.g. Pally, Hunter, Rogue) then I'd also look for Dire Wolf Alpha to buff your recruits or maybe Belligerent Gnome to stall. And if you think you're in a control match-up (e.g. Warrior or Priest) I'd probably keep a cheap card-draw card like Novice Engineer or Loot Hoarder.
Strategies:
- You're obviously going to Hero Power on Turn 1 and then hopefully play one of the cards mentioned above on Turn 2 (Dire Wolf/Gnome or card draw).
- On T3 you'll hero power and try to get another two-drop out (preferably one with card-draw like Flash of Light).
- Turn 4 is where you'll have a lot of decisions in terms of buffing what you have on the board (via Blessing of Kings, Dark Iron Dwarf, or Argent Protector), drawing more cards (via Cult Master or Hammer of Wrath), or trying to protect your board (via Sen'jin Shieldmasta, Omega Defender, Truesilver Champion, or your 2 tech cards - Acidic Swamp Ooze and Spellbreaker)
As soon as you have it, you'll almost certainly want to play Immortal Prelate. However, the big thing to keep in mind is that you don't want to get it silenced, polymorphed, or hexed. As a result, I'd recommend not buffing it the first time you play it so that your opponent is less tempted to use one of those cards (you can also consider killing it yourself w/Hammer of Wrath like I mentioned above). This is another reason to try to buff some other cards on Turn 4 (looking at you Blessing of Kings) to try to bait them into using their silences elsewhere. I've only included 1 other deathrattle minion in this build so that you have the chance of drawing Immortal Prelate a second time and actually applying some buffs before killing it off so that you get the best of both worlds when you play Da Undatakah.
Deathwing is there for some legendary board clearing power on Turn 10, but with the added bonus that you'll return some beefy cards to your deck if things go well with ze Prelate :)
This is all going to be pretty hard to pull off consistently, but hopefully those few games you do will be extra worth it!!

TardisGreen posted a message on Help a noob out?Posted in: General Deck BuildingI think the best thing to do is to simply play your quests and earn as much gold as possible till early April when the new expansion is expected.
Rotation time equalizes the field a bit. You still have an uphill struggle ahead, but it will be a tad beat easier.

Point to the part of this doll where Leeroy hurt you...

That’s pretty funny, I like that. I just don’t see the point of BM in general in a game. Feels like I’m playing a 12 year old.

Salty, nah, I’m not salty. I find it funny. To go out of your way just to tell somebody to kill themselves because you lost? That’s hilarious. If I was salty I wouldn’t be laughing. I’d be cursing somebody out on HS.

...that literally laughs hysterically when somebody adds you as a friend just to curse you out because you beat them? I don’t know, I just find it pure comedy.

Never mind, I decided to go ahead and craft. Glad I did! I'm still noob and not very great, but this put me from rank 19 to 15 (first time above 17 for me) very quickly! Ran out of time to play shortly thereafter, though my streak ended. I'm going to see if I can take it further today. Great deck, thanks!

Trying to decide whether or not to craft this deck... I'm short cards that total to 1200 dust, and I only have about 1600 dust total, so it would nearly wipe me out. From the comments it seems tough against aggro decks... is that still true?
I have the three legendaries and am glad it doesn't contain Zul'jin, as I don't have that one, and so many non-budget Hunter decks count on it. I'm missing Nine Lives, Mossy Horror, Defender of Argus, Replicating Menace (x1), and Missile Launcher (x2). I assume there are no good replacements for any of these?

Thanks Bunnyhoppor! And congrats to Hunterace! He played some fantastic Hearthstone!

I guess for my part, I haven't necessarily played the deck for winning fatigue... though it surely could be played that way. Mostly I like having the repeated 8/5 (or more if buffed) minions on board, sometimes more than one at a time, and I've generally won (or lost) before fatigue set in. As such, sometimes Leeroy can add in that last bit of burst needed to knock down my opponent.
But then, I'm not that great of a player. :D I like this deck because it's fun, even though I suck with it (and pretty much all other decks too). Lol.
I would definitely be all ears for a better card to put in his place. Let me know your thoughts!

I had it on overnight last night and had a Witchwood pack this morning, but no RoS yet nor any Classic packs. I'm just grateful for the free stuff, honestly. Free is good.

Done. Got Crystalsmith Kangor from it, so that's a start. Same pack had an Augmented Elekk also.
