Keep 2000 gold for upcoming mini expansion. Its the best value gold can buy.
Then if got spare only spend on packs. For packs get 10 each starting with newest expansion. Because for first 10 packs u will get a legendary guaranteed.
This data should be analyzed from a standpoint as to why agro decks is particularly dominating the meta. Simple reason is non-viability of control archetypes.
Control decks being the bane for agro based decks is non-existent or don't see any plays in standard ladder. This is due to the new quest/combo archetypes which cannot be countered by slower decks. Game is over before control decks can start playing their cards.
So while agro feeds on quest/combo, they are left unchecked. As balance is broken, the meta is skewed to Agro > Quest/Combo.
Hope that Bliz team can figure out a fix to the balance. Quest/Combo which can completely draw and play all their cards by turn 6,7,8 is rather problematic IMO. The value of 8,9,10 mana cards is reduced to dust as adding them to deck list will just reduce win rate. So no point printing or keeping them anymore.
Standard has very limited pool of cards for much innovation. Rather bland now with just one or two dominating archetypes and boring if we que into the same deck every other or alternate game. This is a structural issue on every new year rotation with 1 out of 3 expansion sets.
Hope that the new expansion will breath life and fun back into meta or bliz makes some changes on rewards track to make it interesting/worthwhile to grind on standard ladder. Nothing much to look forward to post level 100 so excitement also dries up towards the end of month.
Existing archetypes yes - but I hope that it will skew in favor of the current non-viable ones like murloc shamman, elemental shamman, taunt druid, beast druid, big beast hunter, frenzy warrior, self destruction warlock, chaos warlock.
Any new variation of archetypes in ladder for any class brings flavor and spice to the meta.
Warlock is a class of fatigue and lifesteal/drain. Priest is a class of resource and heal. Warrior is a mixed class (Protection and Fury). These follows the lore of WOW.
I think the class identity is there to stay and worked on by Bliz. The competition and cards to counter one another is intended to keep the balance and identity of each class.
For example, agro and face damage will overrun warlock though they still have a chance to survive with lower odds. Likewise Priest can easily out value and heal aggression and face damage face but struggle against warlock. They also have chance to survive if they change their game plan to become aggressor instead of fighting on the turf of warlock at fatigue. Is it easy to overcome odds? No, but then it takes skill and experience to turn the game around.
Not worth as the win condition edges at danger zone. The payoff with 2 health boards is weak against too many board clears and even if it becomes good a ready neutral tech card in the core set will effectively disable it ie. Barron Geddon. More so with N'zoth some decks can easily fit in an elemental for resurrection.
It may require a few more expansions/mini set to make self mill/infliction archetype work like how bliz slowly add new stuff to make no minion mage meta and compatible. Mage finally got their identity as spell masters and Warlock may one day get it's identity as self infliction terrorists. Just not yet in Barrens.

I manage to reach legend with primodial druid in May. And in June now at D4 with decent win rate so I can say its viable.
The version I run is with cenarian ward. Does not guarantee 100% win but against agro and mage is not necessary unbeatable.
Can check out my decklist if interested. http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1388066-primodial-druid-legend-barrens

Mage produces MAGIC. Their spells does wonders unlike any other.
Rogue is flexible. Combo for value and guerilla tactics. You have many ways to play the same deck on different cards.
Each class have their charm. Ppl play what suits them most. Most important is that you had fun win or lose.

It's not spicy enough. Crabrider's nerf is right on spot though.
