7-8 card combos are hard to pull off especially against an aggressive meta. But substituting 2 blasts from an arcsplitter for sticking in a spell damage card ain't much better. Warrior struggles with their 5-6 card otk (but that can be stopped by taunts unlike this)
I mean, mage did get KT to resurrect skeletons, rogues have gotten secrets multiple times, hunter is going arcane and DH is getting an "only spells" archetype this expansion and warlock got murlocs randomly, so maybe next year they'll get freeze?
All jokes aside, I wouldn't mind an expansion where classes swap identities and mixed up keywords. Could fit a butterfly effect inspired expansion where Toki messes with the time line or something..
With what little taunt synergizers warrior has, it felt like it was aimed to be quite a fast playing deck with cheap taunts but this goes against that style. Will probably be an unplayable archetype once again unless blizzard prints coherent cards for it... which is a shame because I really enjoyed the armagedillo days of warrior
On paper, I absolutely hate this archetype. It's just bad, both in design and it's fun factor. But otks that need more than 5 cards tend to struggle and this needs at least 9 (7 blasts, the legendary and this) to deal with renathal, leaving 2 cards for a mage to hold off their opponent until they get their 9th piece of the puzzle... This might not be as potent as it looks but I'm definitely reserving my hopefulness until it's release
Every single deathrattle is random, otherwise it'd be unfair for the other player as they can kill the minion their turn and then have to wait for you to choose your options, or to never choose, hoping the opponent will have to concede or sit there for hours or until their turn time is up (depending on how the Devs choose it to play out)
I'm pretty sure it is 3/7. (I stand corrected, it is 7/7) If it is, it's still good and might be able to bring back the old attrition type of control decks of surviving = winning.
In fact all three triple blood cards seem solid, probably the best out of all triple rune card imo, with unholy seeming the weakest but that might just be for the time denathrius is in standard for obvious balance reasons
I reckon the core set for this class will remain much bigger than other classes for this exact reason.
It's definitely gonna be interesting to see how it all plays out and how future nerfs and buffs will come for the class. The 3 blood rune card revealed doesn't seem enough to warrant that archetype now, with the aoe cards being elsewhere. Don't get me wrong though, I think it's an amazing idea from them and can't wait to see how it actually all plays out
You can craft the legendary just not the signature card version that has a different look. It's only bad if you are a new player and open a terrible legendary that so happens to be a signature version, I suppose
Dinner performer from this expansion, it's technically not a recruit minion but it could've been. I'm on my phone and couldn't change pages without losing what I wrote so I couldn't check the name when writing my original comment 😅
I always thought that the 2 mana neutral gargoyle that buffs beasts was gonna see play in a top tier aggro hunter deck, along with the Hunter's location. I do wonder if there is a deck there the meta is sleeping on.
Also the 3 mana recruit card in neutral was and still is something I'm surprised hasn't taken off in aggro decks. Even getting a one drop, you're still playing essentially a 2 mana 2/3, a 1 mana minion and a draw for 3 mana. Absolute worst case scenario is still worth it. But apparently not..
F2P here. 2 legendaries are actually good and 2 others are actually mediocre. The Jailor will probably get nerfed at some point, as we have seen the Immune mechanic being really problematic sometimes. As well as the Druid card. So I'll spend 2000 gold there play the cards and if they get nerfed to oblivion I'll use the dust to make other cards.
I feel the same way with jailer, even if it takes a few months or years, there will come a point that its effect will create a busted play considering how unique it is, they're always nerf contenders. What's the druid card? I guess you refer to the draw card but I actually think the minion is gonna see endless play especially if buff priest becomes a player in the meta or any of the many classes recieving deathrattle support (I feel like that's setting up for a deathrattle themed expansion ngl)
Even if the cards look mediocre at first, it's almost always worth buying the mini set - you only need one of the legendaries to be playable for it to be worth it, and meanwhile you've insured yourself against opening the bad legendaries in the set.
However, in terms of gameplay, I'm not seeing a lot to get excited about other than the mage cards. The two 'good' legendaries look like they're trying to keep you playing an actual game of hearthstone rather than annihilate the opponent's board or win on the spot, which is what top end stuff needs to do. So many of the mini set commons/rares are total filler.
I think out of all mini sets the only card that was exciting (depending how you see things) was Kazakusan. Also I think the 3rd mini set of the year is always the juicy one, expanding on all archetypes throughout the year, bringing back all keywords and doing something a bit unique with them at least with one card. The other 2 mini sets seem a lot more filler with fillers but do see play at some point.
sylvanas is the only standout, which seems like the theme with every mini-set, one really solid legendary and the rest will fit in eventually.
Glad I ain't the only one that thinks there's more to sylvanas than the general consensus, I also think the neutral infuser could be good too, you get 5 infuses from it and it pretty much infuses every card outside a handful of legendaries, no more bad topdecking.
It kind of doesn't matter if the cards are good. If you were to disenchant the entire mini set, the dust value would be worth more than the gold you paid. If you have 2000 gold, it's foolish not to buy it.
Of course, like I always say, dusting Standard cards is short-sighted. Even if you don't like them, you should hold on to them at least until they rotate out. You never know when something will get buffed or become better through new synergies in a later set.
I've not been short of dust for a few years now but I don't think it's too worth it, 2000 gold would be 100 cards in an expansion, handful of goldens, a legendary and half a dozen epics I think are just as good, maybe better than buying to dust (but I could definitely be wrong about that)
But I do agree with not dusting standard cards, it's how I've kept so much dust: nerfs! And when it comes to wild I tend to keep any mana cheating card even if it never saw play, SN1PSN4P taught me that with the priest epic way back in the day.
Mage definitely feels like it got the best set for sure but at least secret mage hasn't been in the meta for a while. I think the priest buff spell is gonna be the most annoying and frustrating card to play against in this set though
Interested to see what you guys thought about it and the legendaries, and if you're buying it or just gonna open packs for the commons and rares.
For all but the last mini set I bought them with gold, but the last one felt so underwhelming with the legendaries I decided to just save packs from ranked rewards and haven't yet regretted not getting those legendaries (I did open neptulon which was nice).
This time round I think I'll buy it, all legendaries actually seem somewhat playable, the jailer looks like it could possibly get nerfed. Sylvanas might see play after the rotation when options become limited or could push more swarm decks in the meta just by being a solid mid-game pay off for them. DH is nothing special, if a tempo demon deck exists in the future then that'll be an auto include and lastly, I think Hunter's legendary is actually good and playable. Anything on Cairne strength or better is decent for it.
Nothing screams exciting or revolutionary but all seems playable and worthy of 2000 gold

Lots of aoe in frost and unholy runes, yet blood seems to be the control rune and have none atm... I think I see what they're doing here for balancing

Now I'm not saying I predicted dual tribes... But I'm happy that's finally a thing

The epic is pretty crap tho.
