This is the only thing I can actually agree with them changing. They definitely should not be able to target their own minions. Give it the hysteria treatment. Luckily, I don’t think a lot of hunter players are even aware of this interaction.

If Mage can have a 4 mana spell that deals 6 damage to whatever they want, it's completely reasonable that Hunter can have a 4 mana spell that deals 5 damage to face at best when removing a 1 Health minion.  The interaction you're describing is a cool play that Hunters can make, and actually requires them to have/do something just to get that damage.

As I stated in my first post, I don’t think anything really needs changing at the moment. This is just a small tweak that I agree could be considered at some point. The fireball comparison is laughable, but there’s no need to get into that. I personally don’t have an issue with hunters on ladder, since my control warrior largely farms them. They’re also beating up on all the warlocks, which is a good thing. So trust me, I’ll be fine with or without the change.

I like Rhino it is a fun card but the shot is quite problematic, especially since they can target their own 1/1s for 5 damage face

As an aside an completely sort of unrelated to this post, does anyone know why Mindrender Illucia was nerfed?  She's difficult to play, very situational and ( as far as I'm aware) no one was complaining about her when she got nerfed.  The stats to mana ratio are now terrible (as they were before the nerf) and most of the cards you would want to be able to play are often now out of reach given the mana cost.

It seems wierd that TIckatus has survived without intervention and lots of people hate it yet she got nerfed out of the blue when no one expected it (and could be a reasonable counter to Tickatus)

Iksar has already said in one of the Q&As, that if Tickatus Warlock was ever 10-15% of the meta, they’d probably look to making adjustments. As of right now, it is currently 14% of the meta across all ranks & 11% in legend. It’s the 2nd most popular deck in the game behind face hunter, despite being a “bad deck.”

Whether or not they will actually follow through with adjustments, remains to be seen. Stay tuned.

    Too funny, so predictable.

Nerf hunter and something else then needs a nerf, right?

Warrior deals with them pretty nicely in my experience. Be mindful of the rhino, you do need to play around that. I do like when I don't bite for it and they end up putting it on an empty board. Turn 5, expect a rhino, don't leave a 1 health minion or similar.

For the record, I hate face hunter. I've hated every iteration of it that I've faced. Not the way I like playing the game at all and I find it tedious to rush rush rush which is what they force you to do. Toxic reinforcements comfortably makes one of my least liked cards ever. I completely get why it's not enjoyable to play against this deck.

I've never asked for it to be nerfed though.

Pretty spot on here. I too, have always despised hunter as a class. I can’t stand the play style. However, this deck is pretty far from a nerf candidate if you ask me. Annoying to play against? Very. But not worthy of a nerf. The toxic reinforcements bit was a good point too, because in my opinion, this deck is nowhere near as strong as that one was. And as far as I can remember, that one was never nerfed either.

So long story short. Annoying to play against, doesn’t always equal nerf. I would recommend looking up what’s good against hunter if you’re seeing lots of them. I doubt anything in the class will be touched.

Good lord, this thread has been a roller coaster ride. After reading the initial post, seeing the inevitable downward spiral, & eventually, the full & total collapse of anything resembling an actual discussion...I can’t help but laugh at the irony of it all.

This thread is the HS community in microcosm. A sublime tragedy.

Here to once again voice my complaints about Warlock in the coming days, with how strong Control Warlock is gonna be they just have to be at least thinking about nerfing Tickatus. I keep saying this but what reason is there to play any other control deck? I'm not even talking about just viability, it's so unfair to play against Control Warlock with pretty much any slow deck and that's not including combo decks too. It is the fucking dream for a Control deck to be able to shut down other control decks and combo, I can't think of any other control deck that was capable of pulling this feat off with just 2 cards (Tickatus and soon to be Jaraxxus) and the class got more healing and still has a boat load of removal including the overpowered Cascading Disaster under their belt, so they still got a decent shot at beating aggro and decks that play big minions. Control Warlock disrupts the entire archetype trifecta with just Tickatus alone, even it's mere existence as it is now is a concern, even if Tickatus doesn't get played as much it's still a threat that other people will put in their deck and will stomp on alot of decks outside of aggro.

Yeah I also think this deck will be an issue post rotation. The Jaraxxus buff wasn’t necessary in my opinion & only compounds the issue. I also think printing cascading disaster was a mistake. Warlock will have the best board clears, draw, & healing post rotation, essentially pushing out anything other than hyper aggro to rule the meta once again. The soul fragments negate chip damage & the one downside Jaraxxus had was taken away. Nerfing Tickatus probably won’t even matter now with Jaraxxus, it’s just too much value over time.  I guess we’ll all just have to play rogue next expansion, because midrange & control won’t exist outside of controlock.

Run AoE. Run taunts. Run heals. Mulligan for better cards.

Damn, why didn’t I think of any of these things before?! *smacks forehead*

Pen Flinger should cost 2 mana

That would absolutely destroy the card and make it unplayable. What it really needs is to have the bounces limited like returning at the end of the turn. Could also make it a 0/1 so it retains its identity but is useless if you can’t bounce it

Making it a 0/1 would change absolutely nothing. A pen flinger is almost never played if it can't be bounced anyways, so that's essentially a non issue. The only way to nerf the card is to make it only deal damage to minions, which would also potentially kill the card, but so be it. No deck should be centered around a 1-drop. I truly believe this is the change we'll see later this month.

Another year of watching the rope burn while your opponent ignores your board & bounces pen flingers definitely does not sound like fun to me.

I am playing in Standard and I am so tired of meeting only Rogues. Since the last nerfs, I mostly find rogues on ladder. And initially it was okay, but I am the only one who finds it boring to go up against the same deck / class for something like 10 games in a row? I know that there is going to be a new expansion in two weeks but it is so frustrating to meet something like 40% rogues on ladder. Not to speak of 'It wasnt'me' spammed all over again every game....... Am I just being unlucky or does any one else notice this?

It's high playrate right now because it's a no skill deck.

That aside, it isn't that great.  If you're having trouble against it, Token Druid is 70% winrate against them, get some free wins in.

Facts. The majority of the decks in the game at the moment could be piloted by a garage door opener. I always get a laugh when I browse the HS reddit page & read thread after thread about how "skill testing" all these face decks are. I suppose counting to 30 could be pretty skill testing for a lot of players, but I digress.

Anyhoo... A laugh a day, keeps the doctor away.

I honestly didn't think it was possible for a meta to be this bad. I don't even feel like I get to actually play the game in most matches. It seems like the majority games are decided in the mulligan, with little to no decision making at all on either end. This game doesn't even seem fixable at this point.

It's also getting slightly nauseating to watch Rogues play 5+ cards every turn & ending up with more cards than they started with.

posted a message on Tickatus is good or bad for this game because...
    Quote from Shed >>

Tickatus is fine, 13 Mana to burn 5 cards and 23 to burn 10, all over the course of 3 turns, will be played only in control decks to fight combo decks and greedier control decks or in combo decks that aims to blow up your deck anyway. Meanwhile Rin, the First Disciple exists, is way more powerful, does not require setup, has taunt, has way more stats, actually deletes your deck and to balance it out, it costs 8 more mana. Was widely played during it's stay in standard and nobody complained to this extent.

Rin?...way more powerful than Tickatus? Good lord, I’ve seen some hilariously bad takes on here, but this might be the coup de grace.

posted a message on Are there core cards you are very unhappy to see ?

I’m probably in the minority here, but I was hoping for at least one of the build around highlander cards to make the cut. I’m not surprised they chose not to go that route, but a few classes do look slightly gutted. Let’s just hope the new expansion brings some interesting designs as far as deck building goes.

My god you guys are so toxic.. The op is being respectful and reasonable, says things like "it SEEMS problematic TO ME", can't you just tell him why you think he's wrong ?

I like how everyone thinks of himself as a great card evaluator but in reality every expansion we are horribly wrong about most cards, we think we learn to be more accurate every expansion but in reality game mechanics and cards combinations evolve much faster than our ability to review them.

I don't see this particular combo as being problematic, but I can absolutely see a world where someone makes Felsoul Jailer problematic in some way or another. If you can make copies of it, silence it or whatever, it can quickly become a crazy anti-control/anti-combo card.

Comparison with tickatus is also unfair, the reason you don't brewmaster tickatus is because you can felosophy it instead, and also because it already costs 13 mana to corrupt and play. And it burns cards from the deck, essentially having 0 immediate impact in exchange for bigger impact later in the game. Felsoul jailer has immediate, potentially massive impact if he burns the right card, so brewmaster makes more sense.

In the grand scheme of things, it's like Tickatus, never going to be problematic because Hearthstone will always be an aggro driven game, but i'm positive a lot of hearthstone toxic members and great card reviewers are going to cry a river because Felsoul discarded their wincondition and they couldn't get back the card in time.

Agreed, it shows the state of the forums when everytime someone puts something people don't agree with and it becomes a hivemind of people snarking and bullying and getting their self satisfying little pathetic jabs in from the safety of behind their own screen. What do mods do about it? Nothing.

That's the Hearthstone community in a nutshell. This game seems to attract a lot of the introverted, socially awkward, angry, basement dweller types, who are incapable of meaningful discussion. Any kind of disagreement, no matter the topic, usually results in unnecessary ad hominem attacks. Anything critical is automatically written off as whining by a large majority of this player base. I honestly have no clue why most players even browse the forums, since no topic is ever actually worth discussing in their minds.

Wow, you made an entire post without trying to validate your opinion with the fact that you “went to law school” and are “a lawyer.”

What an insecure b)%^* you are.  BTW, I agree with everything in your post.

now..... remove this post for being too accurate and real.

As I've said more times than I've mentioned being a lawyer . . . quite a few more times . . . I would be the last person to suggest being a lawyer validates anything except perhaps knowledge of a specific area of the law you might practice.  And even then, no guarantees.  Given some of the troglodytes that graduate Tulane, I would never suggest such a thing.

Glad you read my posts closely enough to catch that, given that in 1108 posts, pretty sure I've mentioned that about 6 times.

In any case, there was actually an intelligent reply here, which is noteworthy.  The folks who crafted golden legendaries are definitely going to go nuts.

I’ve crafted plenty of golden legendaries & have no issue with what they’re doing. Those cards will still exist in wild & could be brought back at some point since the core set rotates yearly. I have no clue why people are up in arms over this.
