You really only need Whizbang the Wonderful to play this game. That's what I've been doing.
Get a streak of the worst deck recipes and you will find out how wrong your statement is.
They didn't say "you only need Whizbang to climb the ladder efficiently". They said he is more than enough to play the game casually, which is true.
Yea, Whizbang isnt competitive, but you could break atleast rank 10 if you can learn the deck recipes. Plus it lets you play with cards you might not play with so its fun
I use to play this game pretty heavily, but I know the cards I have arent even in rotation in standard anymore. Is it worth jumping in before the expansion or should I just wait until Shaodws drop to try?
I would jump in and start doing the quests. Even if you're not a free to play player, the more gold the better obviously.
I was a big fan when Blizzard announced the new auto-complete deck. And no, this was not because of net-decking. In fact, I am not a fan of it. What I got excited about this feature was the following: When you put a card into your deck that you liked, the deck builder will try to make a deck around it. This is stated in an interview with Donais. ("It gets better though. Let’s say that for some odd reason, you decide you want to use Flame Leviathan, Duskfallen Aviana or another card you have never seen on the ladder. The smarter deck builder will take that into account and build the highest win-rate deck with that card. And you can do this with any combination of cards too!")
But in reality two of the things Donais said aren't working
1, The deck builder doesn't try to make a deck around specific cards.
2, It doesn't work with Flame Leviathan because it is a wild card. (this feature doesn't work in wild (yet))
Do you think they will update this in the future so it will build around cards? I would like to see a 'good' deck with for instance Tree of Life or other cool but unused cards.
I dont think they would put that much effort into the deck builder. I think its more to keep people from the 3rd parties and to help the newer players overall. So i think they're just going to keep it as is and just substitute whatever card you want and put it in a good deck.
